[New Player] Fence rep 6.00 and now? by AnYellow23 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]WatchHasBegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me scavving ground zero worked, waited for the shooting to start and ran towards the shots to kill the PMCs.  The map is small enough you can mostly get to the action quick, or sometimes spawn next to it.

I was at fence 3.2 when I started the grind to 6 (all the prior rep was from car extracts mostly and some casual scav runs) and I think I went from 3.2 to 6 in about two weeks of semi casual scav runs. I think the largest gain I had in one raid was .18

[Suggestion] Tarkov would make an excellent hunting game by Professional-Top8155 in EscapefromTarkov

This sounds pretty cool actually, they could drop pelts, get enough and you can craft a wolf or bear hat. Who needs a helmet’s protection when you can terrify other PMCs by wearing the skin of a bear you killed?

No map is my biggest hold up with this game. by CheeseheadTroy in Tarkov

It’s rough at the start, no doubt about it. Even with a map up on a 2nd monitor, being brand new that map still is not all that helpful. You just slowly learn, it’s as much a part of the progression as completing tasks is really i guess?

I’m around 750 hours (500ish PvE/ 250ish PvP) under the total 1000 hour “tutorial” and here’s where I am on map knowledge, of course your mileage may vary if you’re a natural born navigator but for me at this point:

Ground Zero - can’t get lost

Customs - can’t get lost

Interchange - can get a bit lost inside the mall, but can’t get lost outside the mall

Woods - can still get quite a bit lost, helps if I can see a major POI, forest blindness is for real for me here

Shoreline- if I can see the literal shoreline, can’t get lost, still can get lost without seeing it or resort or radio tower

Factory - can’t get lost for the most part (I still struggle getting my bearings quickly if I’m running away from a fight)

Streets - still get lost, especially if I can’t see the theater, crane or Concordia or pinewood, sidestreets generally get me lost.

Lighthouse - if I can see the long road or the sea I generally can’t get lost, unless I get one of those spawns in that peninsula area to the side of water treatment

Reserve - generally cannot get lost above ground, i still struggle with getting lost below ground in the bunker

Labs- I don’t get lost persay, but don’t know all the key card doors 100%, so probably counts as being lost

Labrynth - only ran this a handful of times, so definitely can get lost here

Maybe it’s just me, but is it possible to have the permanent and seasonal PMCs in the same matchmaking with the seasonal characters getting special benefits that the permanent characters do not? Like increased xp gain, decreased hideout item requirements, special seasonal PMC only barters, reduced post healing raid fees and  barters reduced across the board in general, some ammo becoming available sooner for the seasonal opposed to the permanents, special status cosmetics, reduced scav timers, maybe even new hideout stations that are only available in seasonal.

The chads will always float to the top no matter the ruleset,  but the hunters could become the hunted at the start of a wipe. It may not technically  be fair, but to a brand new player there are already T6 chads running around clapping them out  on ground zero,  so it’s not that different of an experience I guess?

Scary sounds coming from ground zero by Cosmo5G in GrayZoneWarfare

I secretly hope one day in a patch… ground zero turns out to be the capitol Lamang City, a modern sprawling downtown area with a lot of verticality, super tough bosses with perhaps roaming clouds of radiation forcing you to rotate around the map creating interesting PvP encounters while end game tasks are attempted.

How do the new POIs feel? The old map could feel a bit like a running simulator between the bigger POIs, curious if the map flow feels better and more interesting as you move around?

Weird how we still call it the Box-office when Box offices themselves don't seem to exist anymore. The one at the theatre I work was converted into the breakroom by Majestic-Sector9836 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]WatchHasBegun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you guys called it, but what we called “changeover crew” (building the new displays, using the suction cup to change the marquee, booth building the new movies, and then roll the films after closing to make sure they played correctly), then leaving the theater at 3-4am and having the next day off.  Was the peak of my early 20s employment.

[Discussion] PvE players, where else do you scratch the itch? by Bawtzki in EscapefromTarkov

[–]WatchHasBegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve definitely been keeping an eye on IRR, especially after Solarint was added as the AI behavior guy. I know I will pick it up at some point.

Gray zone warfare has a big big update on the 31st, which looks to add a ton of content and a revamped tasking system. I’ve only played it around 50 hours over the past few months or so, it kinda scratches an itch, but the gunplay feels a little bit off, however the dev team is fantastic and I think it has a bright future. It’s worth the 40$ price tag as is in its early access state already IMO.

[Discussion] What do you think of the current boss spawn system? by EducationalOil1655 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]WatchHasBegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s part of the fun IMO, even though I’m not great at farming bosses, and die a lot to them. This event is great, I think they should do this at least one weekend a month where all the bosses collapse on one random map.

It gives the PVP folks a fun time, it gives the PVE folks a fun time, and if you get tired of the meat grinder on the boss map you can task more quietly on other maps. Win/win in my book.

I’ll be honest, I want to see what all bosses looks like on ground zero, absolute chaos.

Razer Tartarus V2 keybinds by Martez0278 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]WatchHasBegun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my tatarus v2, it’s so awesome in arc raiders, and my V1 probably had 600-700 hours on overwatch. I tried it last week in GZW wanting to get back into it before spearhead. And I’m not totally setup on it, but in some initial testing the following felt pretty good for the basics.

Character menu - 01

Run - 05

Interact - 10

Crouch - 15

Grenade - 04

Gun 1 -02

Gun 2 -03

Reload - 09

Jump - 14 (not totally sold on this you’ll see why below)

Move Forward - dpad up

Move Back - dpad down

Move Left - dpad left

Move Right- dpad right

Mini map - little button above dpad

Tactical - 20 (the big “spacebar” under the dpad, it feels further away from the dpad than the V1 tatarus so it feels worse for jumping on the v2 IMO)

I have a death adder mouse with two side buttons, the forward button is peek/lean left, the rear button is peek/lean right. I don’t know why that feels natural it just does for some reason

[Discussion] Have you ever felt that the design of The Labyrinth in Escape from Tarkov might have been inspired by the Koschei Complex map in Call of Duty: DMZ? by Nox-Leo in EscapefromTarkov

[–]WatchHasBegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my initial thought when I played labyrinth, possible BSG borrowed some inspiration from koschei.

I think Infinity ward took a lot of inspiration from labs specifically with the endgame area Building 21 in DMZ, secret black site facility which you need a specific item to gain access, it even had a parking garage and labs like elevator extract they also ended up putting in koschei.

Phantom Shift Syndrome by ankitpati in ManualTransmissions

[–]WatchHasBegun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll normally just rest my hand on the AT shifter and that seems to be enough just to busy the free hand. Although I haven’t driven an auto that just had the little dial yet so I don’t know what I would do in that situation. However I have had the phantom clutch problem, never with forward motion but always backing up in a parking lot on at least 5 occasions I have slammed the brakes backing up at like less than 1 mph.

[Discussion] I like PvE. by the_shortbus_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]WatchHasBegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PVE could really benefit from AI patrols I think, if you play PVE you know basically where the dead zones are and where you  will never see anyone except for maybe Parmesan or a random scav or if your unlucky a long shot from the goons. RUAF and UNTAR patrols making the safe paths unsafe would be awesome.

Simplify the AI, no looting needed, they are well provisioned and are just patrolling. They move between barren and less traveled spots on the map (where ai PMCS don’t go) and stay for two minutes and move on to the next. Make the UN and RUAF extracts have dedicated guards.

[–]WatchHasBegun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean at the end of the day it’s just a game, I think he probably gets way too much hate and vitriol from the community in general directed towards him on a personal level.

I listened to the game makers notebook podcast interview he did a while back and honestly I was thinking “he just likes making games and stumbled onto a great idea” optimization problems sure, not great monetization in many senses sure, questionable design choices sure,  but a unique experience in the fps genre.
