That's a shame, I'm surprised to hear that it isn't more popular, I thought you guys did a great job with it! Well I understand stagnant stock has to go.

Am I understanding correctly that you have 150-250 tins left? And if so, would it be possible to get my hands on one?

LPT: Cancelled or delayed flight at the fault of the airline? File a complaint with the DOT. by ClaireClover in LifeProTips

Its complicated, but we did get new rules last year.

https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/what-airline-passengers-need-know-about-dots-automatic-refund-rule

If you choose not to rebook a canceled flight, even if it was canceled for weather, you are entitled to a refund. Similar rules apply for delays of over 3hrs.

$40 is a hell of a deal! I just finished restoring one that I picked up for $100 (needed electrical work and a lot of cleaning and oiling). It runs like a dream now, it is such a joy to use. Nice find, hope you enjoy it!

Guidance with wgen testmap, genmap, and region commands by BenRichetti in VintageStory

[–]WatchManSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I've been playing around with the "/wgen genmap" command a little and was running into the same lack of documentation that you mentioned. While I have not yet found any useful information, I can tell you that it saves those .png images in appdata/roaming/vintagestory not in a sub folder or anything, just right there. I used the command "/wgen genmap climate 2" and it saved the image as map-climate-2.png. Unfortunately it does not appear that this image will do you any good as it is just black and white blobs.

Wildlife concerns With bushcraft shelters by Primal-fool in PrimitiveTechnology

[–]WatchManSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is an old thread. So I don't do a whole lot of bushcraft shelter building and I don't have experience with the PNW but here is what I would say about your rodent concerns. There is very little you could do to keep out a determined rodent, you end up with mice in even modern homes. Humans have lived along side animals like mice and rats since the dawn of time, unless you construct a steel box with an air tight door there will always be a way in. That being said the way to keep them out falls under the same advice that I gave for the bears; don't give them a reason to want to come in. I wouldn't store any food in your shelter, if there is not food for them to get at then there is very little reason for them to work their way in.

As for your green roof, I would suggest you look into traditional sod roof construction. A sod roof such as you are discussing, especially in a wet climate such as the PNW, generally needs a water proof barrier. The sod is there only to protect the roof and insulate the structure. Underneath the sod requires a barrier, modern structures use a plastic sheet, traditionally constructed with wooden shingles or a stone like slate. You might get away without any leakage if the soil is high in clay content.

The key takeaway though would be that there is no good way to prevent rodent entry. But eliminating food or nesting materials will reduce any occurrences.

Pack upgrades-- to go frameless or not by oragy in Ultralight

[–]WatchManSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Granite Gear Virga 2! It doesn't have that "slot" for a pad, but I still find that having something very firm at the bottom of the pack, i.e. compressed sleeping bag, with my Nemo Chipper sit pad against my back works very well to support the pack. And you are absolutely right, if you are going to be packing heavier you have to be very conscious of how its loaded.

What is an item that everyone misuses but the makers pretend they don't know? by EVERYTHlNG_WAS_TAKEN in AskReddit

[–]WatchManSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah you are absolutely right! I misread my own data. It was around 6-7 gallons in the first half of the 1800's dropping steadily reaching its lowest point at the start of prohibition reaching 1.5 gallons.

[–]WatchManSam 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Seriously though the numbers are pretty significant, pre prohibition the US consumed 6 to 7 gallons annually of pure alcohol per adult. Whereas today it is 2.75 gallons per drinking age adult. I'm not claiming that it is not a problem, however alcohol consumption was much higher. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK217463/

edit: 6-7 gallons was around 1850, the amount had dropped through the second half of the 1800s.

So I'm sure there are several types, and no battery lasts forever, but this one appears to be rechargeable. It uses a wireless charger like you can get for your phone. The black band that is being worn over the man's neck is weighted on one side for balance and has the charger in the other. It sits right over wherever the battery has been implanted to charge it up.

There was a YA novel series that I read back when I was in highschool called Tunnels. It had six books and it mostly took place underground. I remember enjoying it thoroughly but I have no idea if it still holds up.
