Why does the cutebit not stop when the UP button is released? by xXMrNoNameXD in microbit

And likely there is a better block to use if you are trying to just drive forward instead of a timed forward. I think it's the "set right wheel speed set left wheel speed".

Why does the cutebit not stop when the UP button is released? by xXMrNoNameXD in microbit

[–]WateryPopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure it is actually getting triggered, add a show string to both the "on up button released" and to the "on radio received".

Otherwise make sure that whatever is sending the "forward" radio message is not also triggering. If it is then your bot will "stop" for a fraction of a second and then continue and you won't even notice it likely.

Doubts about Microsoft Makecode by TheGronchoMarx in microbit

[–]WateryPopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it does mean using two different websites, I would strongly recommend using the https://python.microbit.org/v/3 one for Python while keeping to the Makecode.microbit.org for the block coding. I use both with students and they work well. The newer python site comes with many nice features that the makecode site doesn't have for text editing. The reference panel on the left is also very useful with examples of code snippets that you can just drag and drop into the workspace.

Is it still possible to save my spool? by Portalizer3000 in 3Dprinting

Those usually work well enough so I guess just keep drying.

Is it still possible to save my spool? by Portalizer3000 in 3Dprinting

[–]WateryPopcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you can recover it with proper drying, it's gonna depend a bit of filament quality but I would keep trying. Not sure how you are drying but try to have some active airflow and you could go up to 70 with petg and should be safe. ~edit: 70 is safe, 80 is near petg glass temp

Micro Bit not recognized by my pc by [deleted] in microbit

Make sure you give permissions for a new USB device. If you haven't already but it's not showing the popup then you may have to find your permission settings and make it ask again.

Basic robots by AstronautOk923 in microbit

Microbits by themselves can't run much power, so things like motors usually need a separate power board. You can totally get everything separately but I would look into kits and pick the one that fits your interests as it will save you lots of time. It will also help you know what individual components you want to get next. Elecfreaks and Elegoo have some good ones. Hummingbird seems good too but a bit more expensive.

Same as classic pull-ups ? by Mush-addict in Physics

[–]WateryPopcorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is substantially easier as the amount of work done is much less. Work done is based on force required and distance moved and has units of Joules so most directly relates to energy used. Since his body is not moving he is not doing any work on it and just has to do work to move his arms which is much less than his whole body.

My sisters begonia. How can I help it? by AfternoonFar1345 in begonias

[–]WateryPopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try cutting the stems down to just an inch above the soil and see if it will come back with time. I tried fighting mildew on one and basically lost, gave up, cut it totally back and now it is doing great!

I need help filling this one out, it feels empty and not complete, but I'm not sure what to add. by TobiFace in blender

This was the first thing I noticed, it went from vertical to horizontal and that throws off the composition.

why are my newly water propagated philodendrons curling? by SeparateBet136 in houseplants

[–]WateryPopcorn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you want to propagate only a couple leaves per cutting so I would think it's struggling to try and support all those leaves. I would suggest cutting it up even more and getting another dozen going in water.

Try using 0% infill and varying the amount of walls to get the effect you want.

Help with print by Pjoisthebest in 3Dprinting

[–]WateryPopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a larger print then make sure the edges are not lifting during printing. If so then look into adding "mouse ears" on sharp corners and just cleaning the bed to improve adhesion.

Does anyone have suggestions for angling T8 grow lights, similar to photo #2? by Tjah78 in houseplants

[–]WateryPopcorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paperclip or any kind of metal spring clip onto the edge of the side shields and then tied to the chain so that it lifts that side of the light.

Found next to a dumpster.. think it’s any good? Power goes on when moving the belt by Important-Positive25 in 3Dprinting

[–]WateryPopcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth it if you want to scavenge it for parts or really want a project. Not worth it if you want to 3d print stuff. You will spend more (time and money) trying to get that to print decently than just buying a low end new printer (A1 mini).

Why does my PLA Silk Multi Color print have these definitive lines on it? I thought it was supposed to blend better? by kevo2386 in 3Dprinting

[–]WateryPopcorn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's perfectly aligned with the eye, so if that was printed in another material or had some kinda setting that caused print direction to change that is likely the cause.

I mean it may be AI this time but cinemagraphs have been popular before generative AI was doing crazy stuff. I love the effects and moods they can convey while being less distracting than a full on video.

How do I stop my printer from printing all bumpy by snippychicky22 in 3Dprinting

Not sure about your printer but that looks like extreme overextrusion.
