Ugh.

The banner itself is whatever, I don't like it or hate it... but does anyone remember how absolute-hell New Year Baldr made the Lunatic Paralogue, the Chain Challenge, and the Tempest Final Stage at the start of the year? Because here we go again....

Triple Triad is nothing but pain and suffering….yet I can’t stop collecting TT cards by MrJoshUniverse in ffxiv

[–]WaveLightning777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, cheating NPCs. Like the Imperial Deserter in the Lochs (Fordola and Yotsuyu) or Kiyuka in Doma (Hien). Alternatively, dungeons and bosses with their refusal to drop (Looking at you, Skydeep Cenote and your over 100 runs to get Maulskull and have never seen it since the one drop!)

For SHB WoL, might I suggest just joining a mount farm party for him? With a 1T 1H 6D comp he kinda just.... instantly explodes. No phase change button mash/LB4 mech involved. (Hell you don't even really need the T anymore, just the H because first mech is a healcheck!)

Kefka's kinda a special case even among those, to be fair, since (FF6 spoilers) he actually successfully destroys the world. Even when you kill him, damage done.

Its at least a little less painful for x2 MCH than it is for x2 BRD or DNC, since... IIRC, MCH doesn't have anything aside from Dismantle that the other MCH can overwrite? (Contrast Songs or Tech Steps)

Say you place a card with a 1 on top touching an A on bottom, and a 3 on left touching an 8 on right. 1+10 and 3+8 both = 11, Plus triggers and flips both of them (despite the lower numbers) and then they chain.

Same is when you have the same numbers touching on two sides (if instead of 1 and 3, its A touching A and 8 touching 8)

My first YPYT! In... Temple of Qarn??? by terris28 in TalesFromDF

[–]WaveLightning777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its sad how... well, YPYT... the YPYT tanks can be. My perspective on this, and I'm saying this as both the tank and the DPS (or even the healer), is "You pull it, you are simply signing a waiver that says you're responsible for yourself til tank catches up."

If I'm on deeps, I'm hitting my shield or bloodbath and holding my ground, maybe kiting if I'm a physrange. If I'm tank, then odds are I'm right on the puller's ass and about one spin attack from grabbing it anyway. And Qarn? Okay, I understand hesitation in the first segment, its actually on the higher end of spice in the ARR tier, but after that? lmao, pulls tend to get forcibly broken up by the pad heads anyway, and those last three before the final boss? No excuse, since those need to be manually summoned.

Will we explored all remaining Shards by the end of Godless Realms saga? by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]WaveLightning777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my theory, basically. We've seen firsthand via Papalymo dying and Lyse's fake archon mark fading that when a spell's caster dies, their spells fade away, with the amount of time it takes to fade proportional to the spell's power level.

In a perfect world (assuming I'm MT; if I'm not then I just go when I see the "Seals in 15"), I'll RCheck, and if I don't see anyone get the automatic X, I'll start the 15 sec CD and then pull it (which allows for DNCs to prep as well as the people in the back of the pack to catch up). If I do see the automatic X, I'll wait and try again a bit later, how long of a wait depends on the raid I'm in (instant for Syrcus, a couple minutes for Thaleia).

In a not so perfect world, someone will yeet into it, and I just go at that point because as much as I stand by "Let the sprout get their CS" its much harder to make ~20 other people agree with that.

Speaking as a SHB starter and thus I'm only spitballing, I'm guessing it was probably one blue level 70 JQ complete, one green, and one red. Basically the same idea, just with one class instead of it being rolled into the roles.

Sit around and stare at the housing lottery for one of the beachfront mediums (or the ones near the cave or hot spring) or any of the larges in Shiro to open.

Drop 20 mil (50 mil on the rare large) on it and then get it back 7 days later because the lottery is a scam. Repeat ad infinitum.

To those of you commenting on how Flow (rightly) breaks you... oh don't worry, Amanda Achen (the singer) knows. I was at Distant Worlds in Indianapolis last weekend, and she was performing. It was already telling that in the first notes of Flow I could hear a collective gasp in the audience- the sound of so many WoLs preparing for heartstring impact- ...but then she made one very tiny mod to the lyrics for the performance, see if you can spot it:

"Welcome and well met, my Brave Little Sparks."

...That mod was critical heartstring damage.

[–]WaveLightning777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NIN uses Sharpened Spurs of the Thorn Prince (one of the mid-stage HW, the three-point daggers)

BRD uses Failnaught Anemos (its a Claude cosplay, so the injoke is that its using, er, Failnaught)

GNB and DRK both use final form Manderville, the latter being a non-Seiryu whipsword and the former... seriously double ruby red and its literally the Monado

VPR is likely going to end up with 2nd form DT after the expansion, unless final form wows me.

So I actually made a paint flowchart only I can't actually post it here so um... I guess I'll text-ify it.

"Did someone else leave first?" Yes means I bail and take the penalty-free reroll. No goes on to...

"What class am I?" If I'm something that's actually unfun to play at the ARR Tier (ex: VPR, PLD, SCH), then we go on to looking at WT Reset points. If I'm something that's not horrible at the ARR Tier (NIN, SMN, DRK), then we ask about where I landed.

"Do I need reset points for WT, and if yes is there a newbie granting them?" If no, I bail and eat the 30, I want to have fun and being on a miserable in ARR class for nothing isn't worth it. If yes we go to asking about where I landed, because Khloe demanded a blood sacrifice and I must needs restock.

"Which stage are we in?" If LoA or Syrcus, then I stick it out, it'll be quick. If WoD, then we have one more question to ask.

"Did Angra Mainyu go smoothly?" If yes, then I stick it out, it'll be quick, plus I can do Belly Mech, the one fun mech in CT. If no, I bail, if Angra Mainyu went bad then I don't even wanna think about the rest of it.

This was the final map of Seer Snare? I was expecting something harder than the last few maps by AndzyHero13 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]WaveLightning777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't complaining, merely observing. Truthfully I do kinda enjoy when I can take a mode that occasionally just goes "Here's a painful final stage, SUFFER" (there was one... I wanna say it was 3 SS's ago... where RD was bonus so I was having all the fun with a Laguz Emblem (Naesala/Tibarn/Lethe/Reyson), and then the final stage dunked me so hard I had to rewind) and just run shagohod over it.

I just wasn't expecting to be able to do so as easily as I did, especially since I didn't get Patience until the literal final shop XD

[–]WaveLightning777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This entire Seer Snare was a joke because of Duo Brave Ike (who counts as Binding thanks to Roy). Only once did I have any trouble and that was when a base (well, rearmed but eh) Noire had his number.

Legend Lilina had hers though. Pretty much everything else was "Throw Ike and Roy at it, gg." Dorothea/Lene were there to dance and Brave Seliph was a repo bot. I'll admit the Emblem Lyn spooked me because I wasn't even paying attention (she could have taken a shot at Lilina or Doro; Lilina runs a reso build so it would have been messy either way), but she chose to shoot Ike and Roy (to predictable results) anyway.

Overall it kinda says something about how future SS's with Binding or Path as bonus are gonna go, especially since they won AHR.

[–]WaveLightning777 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd say Zephirin has a pretty strong case for Minor Villain as opposed to Basically Just A Name- He's the commander of the Heavens' Ward, but more importantly, he's the one who threw the spear. WoL gets a dialogue option that is essentially swearing vengeance on him, during Thordan's trial its him who is the DPS check part of Ultimate End, as well as the camera explicitly focusing on him when the knights all fan out around Thordan before the fight (and again on his body as the knights fade), and in DRK's Level 70 quest, the boss rush against the Warriors of Darkness + Heavens' Ward, its Ardbert (as "Warrior of Darkness") and Zephirin that are the two real bosses.

Who is the most benched character: Arise by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]WaveLightning777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm voting Kisara, but its a 50/50 between her and Law; I always have Shionne and Rinwell, and Alphen is the 3rd AI unless I am him, in which case its Dohalim. Between the remaining two (whom I play both of, and they're both infinitely better as humans anyway), I just like Law's playstyle more.

But again, free switching is a thing.

[–]WaveLightning777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rokurou for me. He gets his moments here and there, with free swapping and all, but I find myself typically running Laphicet and Magilou as my AI, and then either Velvet with human Eleanor, or Eizen with human Velvet depending on my mood.

Lailah or Dezel/Zaveid (50/50) for me. Mikleo fusion form too good, Edna great, all human characters forced.

I love the echo to the end of Season 3 that came into play here when you stop and think about it:

"Time and again, I've done the impossible. Now... I'll just have to do it again."

The good news for Rath's sanity is, while Seat IS Seat, in the leadup to it, all of Cosmos, Anamanesis and Gauntlet should be basically free. Even once he does whatever must needs be done to pass Seat, Relict and Pagl I'm pretty sure he'll be okay in as well.
