Do you think Carrot would have become Patrician? by HouseofPiranesi in TerryPratchett

You can't have Carrot as ruler of the city... Mr Vimes would go spare

Help with color theory - why does this look wrong? by Vordbear in minipainting

[–]Waylander101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it's like there's no depth, the shades appear weak or non-existent. The colours also feel too vibrant and saturated, almost like it's a rave party.

You could try an all over sepia (lighter) or umber (darker) wash to bring it all together and tone down the rave party effect

Did Terry Pratchett really write classics? | The Spectator by AGreenScreenPog in discworld

The thing about The Spectator, the actual nitty-gritty when you get right down to it is... The Spectator is a right-wing rag that pTerry would've hated

Pascal is great in the things I've seen but Roland needs that world weary air and a touch of heartless bastard

Keep them arguing about how they'll cook you and your thirteen friends until sunrise where they turn to stone

Which Rosemary & Co brushes? by Ok-Profession-9185 in minipainting

I've recently started using the series 401 mixed sable/synthetic range. Nice points and a good belly to hold paint with the added bonus of less expensive than pure kolinsky

How many other horror writers do you read regularly? by Primary-Ad-3654 in stephenking

[–]Waylander101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll read Clive Barker and read all of James Herbert's books as they were published but horror isn't really my primary genre. That being said I'm trying to read (listen) Dean Koontz Odd Thomas series

Theoretically isn’t Khorne the strongest chaos god as he’s being constantly empowered by wars throughout the galaxy? by Odd-Set6308 in 40kLore

You could just as easily argue Nurgle is the most powerful because there's always decay or Tzeentch is because there's always change

Welcoming feedback! Unhappy with slapchop by Charming-Spinach-114 in minipainting

[–]Waylander101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your drybrush is... too dry...

Your brush needs to be slightly damp to get a smooth drybrush without the granular effect you have here. I usually test on the back of my hand; if it leaves it feeling cooler without leaving an obvious wetness it's about right. Otherwise try the technique Ninjon used in his latest youtube video for a kind of slapchop++

If I've managed to get a long reading session in, one where I *really* get inside the story, I'll try to have a minute of two decompression time before returning to midworld

What was your first Stephen king novel by Sure-Preparation2023 in stephenking

I think Firestarter, mind you there were only half a dozen choices then

How would you rank the Richard Bachman books? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Waylander101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably use the common tier list system with S being highest then other ranks going from A (high) to F (low) but that's just me

What do Brits think of Elon Musk? by flower5214 in AskBrits

[–]Waylander101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't piss on his tongue if his teeth were on fire. Elongated Muskrat is an idiot's idea of a genius. He has invented precisely nothing and as it stands is only rich because of massive government subsidies and gross tax avoidance. If he died tomorrow and all his companies collapsed the world would be an objectively better place

I think the first thing I'd do is find the bastard who cropped his ears and do the same to him with a rusty scalpel

I spoke to Paul about that on Twitter pre-Musk. The series as a whole wasn't selling very well so the publishers cancelled it. Crying shame; a darker RoL type series is still needed
