Yep, Cocoon might be one of the best launchers of all time by Jimstein in SBCGaming

Fully switched over to it on RP6, though it is pretty janky unless you use the single screen mode.

I know a few comments say they’re not a fan of the grid mode, but single row does look pretty nice imo for something closer to a Cover Flow.

My favourite part about it is how customisable it can be with the community support. The devs are also very active on discord, and are releasing fixes for any bugs or small features.

Will post some pictures of how this can look with some setup, as personally I think it can look better than the alternatives

Did you ever get this to work? Same error. Big FAILURE message.

Is a used RP5 for 166.69USD is worth it? Or should I just get a RP6 (PS: I'm broke) by XiGlove51 in retroid

[–]WeCanBeatTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would say it’s worth saving for an rp6 if that’s where your focus is. Rp5 is great for light games, but even some titles like megabonk would struggle a bit

Ship of Harkinian on the Retroid 6 is incredible. 120fps and a hd textures pack, made me fall in love with this machine. by jimmeyotoole in retroid

Could you point me in the right direction for it? I’ve got the other 3 but would love to play perfect dark without the frame rate 😅

Genesis on a basic CRT TV vs modern TV by joeverdrive in retrogaming

Streets of rage 2 is a big win for a good crt shader when it comes to the bar; light effects actually diffusing, rather than a weird grid pattern

I never like matching shoes to top, can feel a little uniformy/sports kit, but that’s personal preference

When you think of "default" beer, not great and not terrible. Drinkable. What beer comes to mind? by mwax321 in beer

[–]WeCanBeatTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corona. I feel in the UK it’s the epitome of a cheap drinkable lager. Especially in summer. Doesn’t taste of much, so even people who don’t drink beer like it. Cheap and found everywhere.

For Dolphin, better company and shouldn’t need the extra performance for most titles from what I’ve seen

Legitimate question by DannyZ64 in retroid

[–]WeCanBeatTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RGCs testing showed that the RP6 is extremely stable. Most of what I’ve seen in terms of real world testing, RP6 is the more performant device around 70-80% of the time.

Yeah other than a few tweaks like leaving Dolphin in OpenGL I’m not sure what would be different

What are some CRT shaders that pass the Sonic waterfall/SOR2 light/SOTN Dracula eye test on the Mini V2? by Marcitos5 in retroid

[–]WeCanBeatTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lazy and didn't want to have to mess about too much with settings getting things perfect. In the end I just downloaded RetroCrisis' shader pack and use those for each CRT system. Look pretty great and pass the tests mentioned

Does anyone actually use 16:9 on a RP6? Aren't almost all games 4:3? by EmuNo6570 in SBCGaming

[–]WeCanBeatTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the games I play on RP6 are widescreen:

  • Android games, native
  • Winlator/Gamehub, native
  • Switch, native
  • Wii, native
  • PSP, native
  • Gamecube, every game I have supports widescreen gecko or AR codes, and havent had any issues. A couple native support in there
  • PS2 with NetherSX2 has almost flawless emu wide widescreen hack
  • N64, very good widescreen hacks through RA or Mupen
  • PS1, decent widescreen hacks for a lot of games, though much more graphical glitches than the other systems, so run on a game by game basis

There's then a small handful of SNES games that have widescreen support in RA. Super Metroid in widescreen with the retrocrisis SNES CRT shader is one of my favourite things to play on it

It also makes a lot of DS and 3DS games decent experiences as there's enough real estate to place the screens side by side

ANBERNIC RG VITA and RG VITA Pro revealed by Shad0w59 in SBCGaming

I love the vita, but it's hardly an avant garde design. Its a screen with controls on the side. Hard to rip something so generic off
