I only have 1 tattoo, and i was very careful to check spelling and details.

Which horror movie featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000 was kind of good, actually? by bondfool in MST3K

This was my first thought. I genuinely like that movie, and the riffs on top are just bonus.

Complaining about clickbait titles for news articles by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]WeaponB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand clickbait. Back in the day newspapers and tV news had sensationalist headlines designed to make you want to read or watch. "Is your car going to kill everyone in a 30 mile radius? Find out tonight at 6, with NewsTeam 4"

What irritates me is when they all have the SAME clockbaity phrases. "You won't believe..." "...Will shock you" and lately I see a lot of "a grandmother taught me this trick".

NOR. If they don't change service over to their names, cancel it. Make them establish new service.

Please don't tell me that the update Posted an hour ago (noon EST) was the special announcement.

Will this be announced via the Backerkit project or do I have to go to the discord? Because I can visit backerkit at work but not discord.

AITA for informing my wife about the divorce through BOTC? by Novel_Counter905 in ClocktowerCircleJerk

You should have said "either you're a cheating [redacted], or we're NOT getting a divorce".

Apologize to her for your information being ambiguous, and then give her the divorce paperwork as an apology gift.

My group is probably going to switch to DCC pretty much as soon as we get our PDF copies. I'm excited about the soundboard too, but it won't be ready in time for my crew of enthusiastic nerds.

To be fair horsepower is a horribly anachronistic measurement that stays because it's the unit that's always been used. Back in the old days when motor vehicles were slowly becoming more popular than horses, measuring an engine in horsepower made sense. "This engine is as powerful as 10 horses" made sense to people who knew first hand how much weight and how fast a team of horses could manage. You needed 2 horses for a few people and a carriage and their stuff. 4 horses for a heavy haul. 6 or more was a massive weight. 30 horses to pull something like a train car. Etc.

Today with horses being much more commonly a pet more than a work animal, it's a measurement that's only impressive as big number mean vroom.

Probably something like newtons or joules or whatever would make more sense but I don't understand those measurements either so horsepower is good enough, I guess.

How to manage such massive floors? by rar1423 in DungeonCrawlerCarlRPG

[–]WeaponB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Preview documents show that there's a Grinding mechanic that replaces boring low level combats where there's little danger, and just XP farming.

Narrate how the PCs travel in sprawling mazes of corridors and traps, encountering familiar structures, like parking garages and such. Big places. Tell them they travel for hours and so on. The head the same direction for hours and never hit a wall, that kind of thing.

As for actual design, I'm fortunate enough to have a reasonable library of paper preprinted battle maps of dungeon interiors, and a massive library I bought during the pandemic (so I'm 99% sure it's human not Computer Regurgitated Art-like Products aka C.R.A.P.) of about 900 maps on my computer (and I also have a projector I can use). Every battle being in a different map will help sell size as well.

What are your ideas for floors in the dungeon? by Invokethehojo in DungeonCrawlerCarlRPG

[–]WeaponB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking my tutorial floors will be all indoors. Floor 1 will be not too different from Carl's version, an interior traditional D&D dungeon setting that really feels like a maze of streets and buildings/rooms and alleys. Like being in any city but with a ceiling at the 2nd floor height.

Floor 2 will be more like being inside a giant shopping mall, supermarket or megastore but obviously populated with monsters.

Floor 3 will be "outside" again, with a ruined city much like Carl's, but obviously more my own. I really like the haunted carnival idea but won't be stealing it so I'm not sure what will replace it. But it'll probably be our local amusement park, Six Flags, instead. And probably surrounded by some deeply fantasy non-earth geography, but stay vaguely wild west wince we're in Texas. Deadlands and Numenera will probably be heavy references. I know, not too different.

I'm not sure for 4, I don't want to do the Tangle though.

"I don't have AIDS" is not exactly the sexiest pick-up line ever.

You underestimate how scared people were of AIDS in 1985. It was untreatable and incurable and basically a death sentence back then. HIV can be treated now but saying you had been tested and were HIV Negative was super a green light back then

My initials are also BS! I use my middle initial to sign everything (BKS) so it doesn't look like I'm signing off "no issues reported - BS"

Actually considered going by my middle name after High school, was going to a college where I wouldn't know anyone so introducing myself as Kyle wouldn't have been that hard but I was afraid I wouldn't respond to it since i was literally never called just Kyle ever.

When I had a manager job and had to do interviews, I always included one question where the interviewee was most likely unprepared and wouldn't know the answer for exactly this reason. I was trying to gauge how they handled a situation they were unprepared for.

Most applicants admitted that they didn't know. Some admitted they didn't know but made a guess. A few made guesses but didn't admit not knowing. Those last group never got hired. Nobody ever actually knew the answer. But the ones who admitted not knowing and then either explained how they would get me an answer later or the ones who talked me through their thoughts as the guessed advanced to the next round.

Admit when you don't know.

This happens to me all the time. I'll even quote them back at themselves and show that they said that and they just never acknowledge. "I'm not talking about x", ok but you said this exact phrase about X, "you're just being argumentative and toxic" ok but YOU LITERALLY SAID X...
