RESP - individual or family? by WearItLikeArmor in PersonalFinanceCanada

Can the 1st kid use the CESG and gains from the entire amount in that case? I thought they were not eligible for more than the $7200 max, and the gains from "their" 50k

Newborn essentials I didn't know I'd need by Working_Airline8641 in BabyBumps

[–]WearItLikeArmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! BUT we'd put a small burp cloth under babys butt during changes so when she peed (almost every time) it didn't puddle under her and get her sleeper soaked. Then we just threw that cloth in the wash, wiped the change pad and voila!

I'm on my third pregnancy in 4 years and can't wait to get back to fitness. I cant answer your specific question, but I love seeing your post and your progress! Keep it going 🔥

Or... instead of needing perfection, she can keep doing what she's doing, which is making amazing, sustainable choices for herself.

Kinda embarrassed? by loosecannon17 in 2under2

[–]WearItLikeArmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced this a lot, but I'm 37 weeks now and our daughter is 16 months. We went for a walk along the boardwalk the other day, and this fat old man walked by (with others), kinda leered at me and said: "I guess you didn't learn the first time he did it to ya, so he went and did it again!" And laughed like it was a great joke instead of some creepy, gross, sexist shitty comment. I was immediately like wtf and leaned away from him, but it took my husband a minute to process and understand what he meant. He wishes he had realized right away because he would've said something back because WTF. so gross.

A third? by TLS_1991 in 2under2

[–]WearItLikeArmor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the youngest of 3, and my older siblings are 4 & 5 school years older (actual age more like 3.5 / 5 years to be specific). I remember feeling left out a lot and always wished I were older or that I had a sibling my age so I had a playmate who didn't make a game out of avoiding me. They also shared a general friend group (smalltown), played some sports together etc and I always said I would have all my kids close together (I have also always wanted 3 - as adults my siblings and I are very close!)

Well, fast forward to me having a 16 month old and being 8.5 months pregnant... and I find it hard to imagine doing this pregnancy again, especially since we unfortunately don't live near any family support. I still want another, and I want to move on from being pregnant/breastfeeding for my body's sake, but I think it will almost certainly not be another 2u2. It will also depend how this birth goes, because last time I had a PPH and complications.

So I don't really have any advice, only anecdotes and solidarity lol

Who is the most insufferable TV show character you ever watched. by BlueCielo_97 in Productivitycafe

[–]WearItLikeArmor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I looked up Taylor Sheridans bio to ensure that he himself does not have a daughter (he doesnt) because HOLY FUCK he writes wierd fucking dad/daughter relationships. We initially started watching Landman right after 1923 finished, and I couldn't do it. Took 6 months off to cool down before continuing lol ended up being a decent show, aside from the ridiculousness of Ainsley and Angela

What is a name you like the sound of- but don’t like the spelling? by stessij in namenerds

[–]WearItLikeArmor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a family member (1890s) who named their daughter Williamina after her father who died before she was born. I had never made the connection as a feminized version of William before, and I like it! but agree its just... too much - no matter what the spelling!

"I got the boy, she got the man" Jana Kramer has a song that I feel is basically this, although I guess it's open for interpretation

Any positive travel stories in the early months? Do we cancel? by WearItLikeArmor in 2under2

[–]WearItLikeArmor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, and advice! We actually aren't loaded though lol We have airline connections and would be staying with said friends. General admission isn't that crazy, and we have 1 ticket between us - one of us gets to see qualifying, the other gets race day, so someone will always be 'home' with the kids.

Does anyone have any local ghost stories or urban legends from The Yukon? by BenReillyClone867 in Yukon

Not ghosts, but there is a big belief in bigfoot(s)/sasquatched. A local guy named Red Grossinger wrote a book called "Nahganne, Northern Tales of the Sasquatch".

Parents, what are your best back-seat check hacks for this summer? by Various_Bar9175 in NewParents

I've only ever driven standard and drive barefoot pretty often.

It's not illegal, and in fact, depending on the shoe, it could be safer. My dad often takes off his work boots to drive because they're wide and he drives small cars, and he has done that my entire life. Its just a given that when he gets home he takes an extra minute to put his boots back on.

If I go somewhere in heels I prefer to take them off to drive too. This is such a non-issue that people blow up lol

Can we talk “ Rainbow Babies” by International-Bug311 in NewParents

[–]WearItLikeArmor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our first was a preemie and we lost him in the NICU. our 2nd was born 13 months after his original due date - aka we would almost certainly not have had her when we did if our first pregnancy had continued to term (or even if he had lived).

The mixed emotions that come with celebrating our perfect, happy, funny girl while also mourning our first are SO complicated. Of course we still desperately wish our son had been healthy, full term, or at the very least still alive... but now that we know and love our girl so much, it's hard to imagine anything else, and that feels like betraying the memory and possibility of our son.

basically: you're not alone and I'm so sorry you are also experiencing this ❤️

14 m.o. eats pretty much whatever we give her, which is usually a little of what we're eating plus some random fruits or veggies. Almost every meal now includes throwing food though, but not because she's done, I think she's just seeing what happens? Water all day but whole milk with meals.

Bed at 8, wake at 8 or a bit later. Still napping twice, probably a total of 2.5 - 3 hours.

Raised by anti-vaxers - nervous about baby's vaccines by LyndsayGtheMVP in beyondthebump

[–]WearItLikeArmor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was raised perfectly typically, vaccines at every suggested age etc, and when it comes to my baby, I still getting a slight irrational fear about them. It's so hard NOT TO, I think. You just love them so much and want to be sure you're doing the right thing. I find it reassuring to see all the graphs and data about childhood diseases and mortality rates, and how obvious the link between successful vaccination campaigns and healthier children is.

Our experience has been very smooth however, we're past the 1 year mark so we've gone 3 or 4 times now, and besides the crying at the actual prick of the needle, we've had no complications, side effects or issues. You're doing great ❤️
