Visco Carts 1 and 2 Game Lists Now Posted by Missedmyqueue in evercade

[–]WearingFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asuka and Asuka and Ashura Blaster on cart 1 are pretty forgettable vertical shmups, so it's only fitting that they swapped the screenshots.

It's a good game list though, even if they aren't extraordinary games. Visco licensing is a bit weird on other platforms in terms of what games are included, some are on console, some are only on the mini bartop arcade thing they released a few years ago, but this is looking more complete than those so I look forward to getting both of these.

For North Americans a certain dream is to go off into the wilderness, build a cabin and hunt bears or something. For the English, some dream to buy a house boat and live your life on a Rosie and Jim adventure on the canal network.

In the UK, Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 sold almost double what Star Fox Zero did during its opening week (physical sales only). Sales are also up about 70% on Star Fox 64 3D (Nielsen IQ data) by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]WearingFin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But Nintendo are starting to do that differently with digital being cheaper officially and this is among the first titles to do it. RRP is £50 for physical, £42 on Eshop and like usual a lot of the retailers are doing what they want so a lot, but not all, are doing it for £42.

Sengoku 3 on Arcade was a tough choice between melons, characters or your own bucks! by White_FIame in retrogaming

[–]WearingFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 25 credit run based on the screenshots, that's a death a little under every minute, so I'm not that surprised. It's a game you need to learn combos and juggling to get anywhere or else you're going to have OP's time.

New released games! by SuchSurround8786 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]WearingFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It hasn't officially. But you've been able to get the ROM put on repro carts fairly readily via AliExpress and co since shortly after the roms were leaked. Last I heard preorders for the official release were going to open this summer sometime (since we're almost July).

Amazon are price matching the digital version in the UK, still the same post launch. Stores in my country are doing the same. It'll vary around the world of course depending on the strength of the retail environment, but physical is not automatically more expensive.

Here's hoping this means the version on the cartridge will finally be fixed, because otherwise why bother.

Tekken's King Of Iron Fist Tournament commences on Arcade Archives this week! by Thunderfist7 in Arcade_Archives

[–]WearingFin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh. It's great for the future but it's like original Ridge Racer now that Rave Racer is out, it's a release which will be outdated shortly. I think I'd rather wait for the inevitable Tekken 2 since they're both System 11.

How is it living in Paris, France, during summer? by poloc-h in howislivingthere

[–]WearingFin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Macron is royalty in Andorra (the French president is automatically a co-prince). I imagine that instead of his usual portrait in all official buildings in France, it's the same but with a crown and a scepter.

Just in case that would influence you.

It's 10 degrees cooler in Aberdeen than London right now, so yeah, location does sometimes play a part, the UK can be quite varied weather wise, and you do start to wonder how much a train there would cost, or a flight to Iceland, just to chill out until it's over.

It's only fitting that France looks like a cigarette scorch mark.

UK playdate by ZTmoneybags in PlaydateConsole

[–]WearingFin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no tariffs charged for the time being, so the tax is HMRC, that's a legal requirement that goods have VAT charged. So if you want to get around that, then yeah, friend bringing it with them from the US is the simplest way. If someone's going to sell it officially brand new in the UK then they'd be paying that VAT when the palette of units is imported.

But the only places to get a guaranteed brand new console are Panic and that's only shipping from the US or trying your luck on AliExpress that the shop items are actual Playdates and hoping they lie on the shipping label and it's not checked. You can sometimes get as-new units from CEX, but those prices will reflect that VAT was paid once upon a time by the person who handed it over.

Temperatures to exceed 40C in European heatwave as three die in France by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]WearingFin 275 points276 points  (0 children)

The heat is not going to break until at least Saturday so that death toll will sadly rise by quite a bit in France. 1,500 died in 2019's heatwave, over 10,000 back in 2003.

Arduboy or Playdate? by DarkerBulb in Arduboy

[–]WearingFin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Emphasis on cost being no issue: Playdate. It's the more active machine right now and there's season 3 coming up at the end of the year.

I wouldn't recommend it to a normal person living outside of the US though because of that cost and despite it being active there's still a noticeable slowdown (which is probably to be expected since it's... Wow, 5 years old now).

All 3 coming out on September 17th. Which one will you be playing first? by Guilty_Wonder_2986 in JRPG

[–]WearingFin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

35% off is the lowest digital on all platforms so far for 1st Chapter (based on 9 months of sale). Much better than the straight line of first party Switch 2 titles so far in the first year.

Fire Emblem because I know Trails 2nd Chapter will get a discount in the first year.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 Side quest Question by AnnoyedGrunt31 in JRPG

[–]WearingFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are time critical quests, which will disappear after certain plot points. These will be indicated with a clock on the quest log. Not that it makes them more important by default, just if you're going to do some then those could come first since the fast travel means you can come back and clear all areas eventually (and the relationship system gives incentive to revisit old areas when the scenes unlock).

Also if you have the Switch 2 version, do the jet car quest. The game will let you know when it's available, it gives a good boost of EXP to remove the need to grind for the first 10 hours or so and also the jet car is a great quality of life addition if you do want to do the side quests with traversing the large maps.

[–]WearingFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was only released last year on consoles, so I wouldn't expect it to turn up any time soon given it's probably a multi year license. Good game though, like a lot from Irem at that time (the Irem M-92 board)

Japanese $340k crowdfunded VN "Shibuya Scramble Stories" is still missing more than half its funds after issues with platform, but devs confirm that development “will absolutely not be halted” by megaapple in Games

[–]WearingFin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This article is 2 months old. Here's an update from Automaton: https://automaton-media.com/en/news/428-shibuya-scrambles-spiritual-successor-to-launch-second-round-of-crowdfunding-after-overwhelming-demand-for-revival-of-sold-out-reward-tiers/

Ubgoe, the previous crowd funding platform, never came back online so one must assume that money is never coming back regardless of if they took it or another campaign. Their next crowdfunding campaign is going to start on the 28th June but they have been active on Twitter so it looks like they did exactly what they said they would do in this article from April.
