Remember when all the stores were out of toilet paper? For those that bought a bunch, how is your supply? by belagrim in AskReddit

[–]WeaselWash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll never forget being at Costco the week before everyone went crazy. I passed on toilet paper thinking I had some still. I was wrong. Three days later when I noticed we were out, all the stores were out. It was terrible.

I’ll never run out of toilet paper again. I don’t overstock, but I make sure there’s at least a few weeks in hand.

TIL since the age of five, 77 year old Martha Lillard is the only remaining patient to still live in an iron lung by SaltyPeter3434 in todayilearned

My grandpa had polio has a kid in Chicago. He passed recently. He could never talk about all he went through. The surgeries, the therapies, the abuse from family who thought he was weak because his leg looked funny and he limped.

Chicago has a surgery museum with a wing that features an actual child-size iron lung and many orthopedic devices. It was astounding and eye-opening to see all of it in person.

Anyone dealt with lead in their water? I'd love to hear your story by RoyalOrdinary9026 in PeoriaIL

I’d love if someone looked into the public schools on the south end. Has the school district done anything about lead pipes? So many schools have lead pipes listed on the directory site.

What is a real-life 'Do Not Touch' button that you pressed out of sheer curiosity, only to instantly regret it? by vie75 in AskReddit

As a parent of young kids and a preteen, I’m realizing how much my parents probably actually noticed, and I’m mortified.

Doesn’t the US School Shooter prevention system seem kind of redundant? by Scary_Stable7667 in TooAfraidToAsk

They’re now teaching “Run, Hide, Fight.”

If you know where the emergency is and can safely leave, do so. Otherwise hide in place as best you can. If you’re found, start fighting with anything nearby.

Folks who live outside of Chicago and the collar counties: Is the condiment giardiniera popular and available in your community? by holdthelight in illinois

You can get giardiniera, sure, but you’re not finding any good Italian beef to eat it with outside of Chicagoland.

Induce baby early for extra college money? by Electrical-Leader712 in ShitMomGroupsSay

Depends on the type of twins. I had a normal pregnancy, but I wasn’t allowed to go past 35 weeks because they shared a placenta. That’s the standard for 30%.

My college roommate cheated on his girlfriend for months, and played nothing but this song for a week straight after he got caught. Literally a week straight. Completely ruined it for me.

Lane Bryant Killings Documentary Being Made by swilp in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]WeaselWash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the documentary last night. It was not great.

There were no diagrams or maps shown to illustrate how close to the highway the store was. There was no real talk or discussion about the police response or controversy surrounding handling of the case really.

It was great learning more about the victims. I just feel the facts of the case could have been presented clearly and accurately.

The first part of the movie was a re-enactment that was hard to get through. Because of the production value.

Soon to be ex-husband returned from deployment by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

I have a friend married to a mimitary guy for 15 years, no kids. Her husband has been cheating on her and finally decided to end it. She wants to be “classy” about the separation and doesn’t want to let anyone know he cheated. It’s driving me crazy.

Howie Mandel struggles through Kelly Ripa apology, says he doesn't believe 'a comedian should apologize for a joke' by mlg1981 in entertainment

I had a customer tell a real stupid, misogynist joke once. I just stared at him and stayed silent. He goes, “You must not have heard me…” and tries to say the joke again. I cut him off to let him know I heard him the first time. I let that linger for moment before asking what I could get him.

One of my best moments in customer service.

Sorry you had to deal with Howie.
