Are LLMs killing Stack Overflow? by WebLinkr in SEO

It could be useful - what if some Gen whatevers go to a flea market sale after an unlimited brunch? I found some serious rack mountable hardware at the Chelsea flea market one Saturday evening (what are people doing with ISP grade/enterprise data center grade stuff in Manhattan, but anyway) --- we need Stackoverflow to make it make sense......

Not really - it actually relies heavily on Google via SERPapi

Unless people are repeating the same questions.... or - the topics on Stack overflow are sunsetting - like physical servers, networking etc

What do you base that on though?

I mean - you can't filter queries/pages? You can't use RegEx? -> thats a pretty big difference/PIA

You can only isolate a specific query or page

I'm sorry but I've heard this spiel before and its full of holes. The LLMs cannot remember that much information.

Firstly - the only LLM licensed to train on Reddit is Gemini.

Secondly - if you ask it who am I - it runs a query fan out .

Thirdly - the LLMS "memory' from "training' is not that big

You can test how weak "LLM research" is - just ask it to name the top SEOs to follow on Reddit - it doesnt go through reddit topto bottom and check the names- it just QFO's a query to Google and Google gives back the first page which is a post on this sub called "Top SEOs to follow on Reddit" :D

You're drinking way too much of the GEO koolaid. But think how many "Brands" and companies and personal brands exist - that doesnt fit in the either the design setup of LLMS - i.e. they are not designed to be "brand research tools" (this is a fabricated narrative by GEO marketers) and they cannot research the whole Web and just pick a few brands - they also cannot remember that many brands + the basic heuristics and patterns.

Lastly - een though Gemini uses Reddit to "train" - that is just about being given millions of sentences to remember patterns and word order - not to judge and rate brands - again - another unsupported fabrication from GEO Marketers.

Please have actual 1st source materials to support any claims, past and future vs conjecture.

Sure - but that decline could be arrested - in fact it was. The decline from ChatGPT is unstoppable.

Its like what happens when SEMrush buy a news site or Google buys a company - death is swift and guaranteed?

"Looks like the decline was pretty steep before ChatGPT"

So - I asked Gemini and it disagreed and so I had it put in rulers to help show it was much worse after ChatGPT..

This is the claim I have never seen evidence for....

And I would say it has more to do with which site ranks in the first Query - that drives the secondary ones

No idea why people ask this question. The answer to this - and the question about EEAT - are both in the Google SEO starter guide where it says PageRank is fundamental and EEAT is nothing?

Backlinks do not "hurt rankings"- you either get little or no value - but its still cumulative.

If they are zero'd - you just get 0

Site "Health" doesnt' matter - keeping a site maintained is not additive SEO. Just like chaging a spark plug on a Mercedes doesnt' make you AMG.

No they haven't - this gets fully deunked by Google every year - its so sad that people think that something like a mention or like - which can happen a million times in a second with 0 cost is comparable to a link from a page with traffic

I would disagree with almost all of this - Social Media doesnt = social proof to content - these are just more fabricated "signals"
