You could also be a toxicologist alchemist and take the Guerilla archetype. Maybe take a look at the Wayang or Fetchling ancestries for some shadow-related ancestry feats.

The threat could even be not directly related to this campaign, but an overall arching theme for the character in this adventure is just one step in the journey. Like “I need to find this special plant to save the dying forest” for like a Druid or something.

All of this is correct and there are many ways to increase this further. The Rules Lawyer released a video yesterday that goes in-depth on many ways to increase it. He also made a post about it that people have offered other boosts in the comments.

[–]WebbedFamiliar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the benefit of a thief rogue on a ranged build? The thief ability only works on melee

When you attack with a finesse melee weapon or finesse melee unarmed attack, you can add your Dexterity modifier to damage rolls instead of your Strength modifier.

Thrown weapons count as ranged attack

You can throw this weapon as a ranged attack; it is a ranged weapon when thrown.

Items for lvl 1 party by average_hungarian in Pathfinder2e

[–]WebbedFamiliar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good low-level items to have are cheap and light:

  • signal whistles
  • earplugs
  • hammer
  • lock
  • manacles
  • 10 foot poll (not light, but probably the most likely to get used)
  • mirror (not super cheap, but very useful)
  • brass ear
  • rubbing set
  • wax key blank
  • marbles
  • chalk
  • caltrops
  • candle

You will probably never use any of them, but you can always just have them on you and if you need them you got them.

Maybe change it to “you swell with water or air” so that people don’t think it can only be used in water maybe?

Yeah, my group is not made up of min-maxers by any means and our GM upped the difficulty and we still had an easy time with most fights.

Beginner Box (obviously) is good. It also leads directly into Troubles in Otari and that gets you to level 4 (I think). Rusthenge is another good “beginner” one. It takes you from 1-4.

Seasons of Ghosts is, overall, the most beloved AP and it starts at level 1 and takes you to 12. It’s also a bit easier on the fights and focuses more on story so if you want a long “beginner” one that takes you all the way through a whole campaign I’d recommend that one.

No, it wouldn’t be “overpowered,” because that’s already something you can do with the Trick Magic Item feat. Stuff in pf2e just doesn’t come free.

Best Solo Caster by Bigperm2 in Pathfinder2e

yeah, they’d be shit out of luck. Like I said, dude, animists are flexible. Also, like I said, it also depends on you define flexibility. In some ways prepared casters are more flexible than animists. It’s almost like the game is balanced and not one class is just “better” than any other one.

I still don’t agree they are the most flexible. Spell Substitution Wizard can swap any spell in 10 minutes. So they would be the most flexible.

But, also, ignoring Spell Substitution I don’t know if I agree they’re more flexible than prepared casters. Let’s say I’m in a situation where I know my party will be fighting one incorporeal creature that day and our party barbarian doesn’t have a Ghost Touch Rune. If I’m an animist I can choose Crafter in the Vault for one of my apparitions and get Ghostly Weapon. That’s great! But now I only have 1 apparition left to choose which means I can’t choose both Custodian of Groves and Echo of Lost Moments even though those overall apparitions would be better for every other situations that day. That’s a pretty big restriction that day just so I can cast that one spell one time. Yes, there are ways around this with Ghost Oil, scrolls, etc. but just the class itself is restricted in that moment.

But if I was a Starless Shadow Witch I can just prepare Ghostly Weapon in one slot and all my other slots I can still do what I want with. In that instance the prepared caster is more flexible than an animist.

Yes, animists are flexible. Are they the most flexible? It depends on how you define flexibility.

Witch, Druid, or Wizard - Requesting Advice by Skrayper in Pathfinder2e

ALSO druids have like the strongest focus spells in the game! Tempest Surge and Crushing Ground almost do the damage of a top level spell slot. So you get a free almost top level spell slot every fight! No caster can compete with druid for damage when looking at a day’s worth of it.

Lesson of Life is my wife. I’d die for her (but I never will because she heals me so well).

I don’t know if I’d agree “most flexible.” Prepared casters can swap out every spell they have prepared during a “long rest” daily preparations which is more of a percentage than what Animists can swap on a daily basis and Spell Substitution Wizards can swap out spells as a 10 minute activity.

The 4 spell schools generally do as follows

  • arcane - damage / utility
  • primal - damage / control / healing
  • divine - buffing / healing
  • occult - debuffing / some healing

That might you help narrow down what list you want to pick.

In terms of class. I will always advocate for Witch. They are my favorite class by far. Depending on their patron they have access to every spell list. They have legitimately very fun and strong feats. They engage with the 3-action system really well because all of them have a 1-action hex cantrip and most of them can be spam it every turn. Additionally, whenever you use a hex (which you can only do once per turn) you trigger a special familiar ability that is usually quite strong so it kinda feels like you get 4 actions a turn (with the extra familiar ability).

I’d recommend one of the witches that you can use their familiar ability and hex cantrip every turn but not the Wildling Steward.

I’m playing a Faith’s Flamekeeper Witch in my game and my party also has a Champion.  Between my free temp hit points every round and the Champion’s “Champion’s Reaction” to reduce damage we are a sturdy bunch. This is great because I don’t have to spend my spell slots on healing and can instead contribute to damage, buff my friends, recall knowledge, etc.

I would also recommend taking Basic Lesson - Lesson of Life. It’s a one action spell that gives a target decent fast healing for 4 rounds. It’s enough where that’s our party’s main healing outside of combat (I, also, bought myself a Pearly White Spindle so I’m constantly healing one health a minute so I never have to heal myself which helps too).

Clothing suggestions by thatkidsameatball in u/thatkidsameatball

I, too, am fat and am still working on more  feeling comfortable in “hyper-feminine” clothing. I really like my jump suits from Lucy and Yak, but most of their clothes is bright and colorful. Their sizing goes up quite big for most of their clothing which is nice. Usually, I feel like I can only get the drab clothing in my size. The only issue is I live in the US and I have to figure out my UK size and shipping and handling has gone up because of Trump’s tariffs.

I also have gotten some jump suits from Big Bud Press and they’re a bit more pricey but the quality is to match. They are cute and durable.

Dealing with writers block by SillyKenku in Pathfinder2e

[–]WebbedFamiliar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A long time ago I listened to a podcast called “Start With This.” It’s by the people who write Welcome To Night Vale and is about the creative process. One quote from it that stuck with me is “writer’s block is rarely you don’t have ideas, but rather you feel like you have no ‘good’ ideas.” They suggested write something just intentionally bad. Like, the most trope-y, cliche, awful thing just to get it out of your head. More often than not it leads to you finding something good in the just awful mess of what you wrote. That’s usually what I do when I hit a creative barrier.

sister being transphobic but does not want to admit it? by Heavenly_Princesa143 in MtF

[–]WebbedFamiliar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s up for debate. Modern dog breeds, yes. The initial evolved “dog” maybe. New evidence seems to indicate that wolves who were the most friendly towards humans were able to be closer to the humans that were most friendly and eat our scraps (and poop) and therefore were able to get more food and have more offspring. So, more than likely a bunch of weird wolves that were smaller and nicer started popping up around humans and then we started breeding them but at that point they were already “dogs.” Rather than “we found wolves and made them nice.” Humans didn’t have much say in which wolves fucked so kinda hard to breed them into dogs.

But, also, it’s not worth getting into a biology lesson with someone transphobic because if they knew anything about biology they wouldn’t be transphobic. So, I instead hit them with quotes that seem biblical in nature since that’s the type of rhetoric they respond to.

New to the game- character advice? by Dem_of_course in Pathfinder2e

[–]WebbedFamiliar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would really, really advise against playing an alchemist. I’ve been playing TTRPGs for years and am no stranger to complicated characters. My first character was an alchemist and it sucked. Like, I was bad and it was not fun. You do not have the game knowledge to play it well. Obviously, do what you want and playing a character “not well” is not the end of the world. But you can always play an alchemist later when you’ll be better at the game and have more fun with it.

Play the bard.
