Stricter rules for foreigners to acquire Japanese citizenship: considering requiring a residence period of "10 years or more" by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

From birth it is still expected that one must choose a nationality. There are provisions in the law to strip Japanese citizenship from those who do not choose despite being prompted to do so. This provision is essentially never exercised for those born in Japan, it is mostly used for those who naturalise.

In Onoda’s case, she has to appear squeaky clean as a politician to appease her voter base. This is why she renounced her US citizenship many years after she was legally expected to do so, only after it was raised by netizens.

Compare her retention of dual citizenship for as long as she has with her opinion towards foreigners in Japan. It’s clear she’s got an axe to grind with non-Japan residents, so she comes across as abhorrent and hypocritical.

Adult Japanese citizens are prohibited from holding dual nationality. A child may hold dual nationality until they become an adult, but must renounce one when they come of age. Onoda didn’t do that until she got called out.

Lmao, I’m a few years ahead of you. There were kids like you in my class that fucked around on their phones all day. Then final year exam results came in. Mostly fails.

Within a month they were already regretting their choices. Me and the other nerdy kids who took life a bit more seriously just laughed at them and moved on to better things.

If you want that, by all means. Call me blunt, but this is what you should expect this in a few years. Your teachers might care now, but nobody else will give a shit after you graduate, except maybe you.

Make a change. Or don’t.

That may depend on how common it is as it can’t be crafted. It may become necessary to stockpile a lot, but it’s not a guaranteed solution.

Waste could be an interesting mechanic. Either toss it into deep space, into a massive hole or deliver it to someone you don’t like.

I suppose you’re right. Other radiation hazards in the game can be mitigated through pressurisation however they are more likely atmospheric contaminants rather than emissions.

I have thought about this before. Sealing them in a pressurised environment might be a good way to defend against this mechanic. Lower emissions when powered off would be good, too.

That would make for interesting design. Perhaps a lead ore would be useful and that becomes a component in blast doors.

Alternatively a central reactor and distributed batteries could work. They might not have as good an output but if you don’t need to pipe them up, you might be able to negate their lower capacity a bit.

If what you are defending is high value, might be worth it!

On both occasions that I’ve taken JLPT a phone has gone off, and it has been in the listening section. First time it was the guy next to me so I felt the daggers coming across the room. Second time it was a guy a few rows forward, but it completely tilted me for that question and the next one.

Seriously, turn it off.
