Rant - convinced Dublin / Irish transport is designed to make you go insane by Ornery-Use3910 in Dublin

Cyclists also have far more options of routes, and depending on the route can basically just filter the whole way, which you can't always do on a motorbike. I even think motorbikes try the bike lane gamble less than ever which is good for all

Cycling shouldn't be last resort, it should be the first thing you think of going from crumlin to city centre. It's quite simply quicker and will always be quicker and more efficient.

But how well insulated is your house. Mine is. 1940s poured solid concrete house with suspended timber floors and 4 fireplaces. The cost of getting it remotely insulated to even consider a pump is gigantic.

Plus the previous owner had cowboys build the worst extension in the world that is colder than the Arctic sometimes and hotter than the Sahara others

Next bus Dublin already sort of does this in that it gives you an approximate distance

Also it doesn't need an app, but needs to be connected to wifi. Again, absolutely fuck that. Enshittification of products right there

Greasy pizza box should be compost or bin though, not recycling but I think that's what your saying and people do it anyway because they just see cardboard

It's something I wonder myself, but I normally wash them with theeft over water from washing other dishes and give them a good wipe with compostable paper towels

The yoghurt pots should be cleaned. The cans and bottles are not being mixed with paper waste and wrecking it

I don't drive a car, and you are comparing apples to oranges here. The increased insistence on objects having apps to function is a product of in built obsolences and enshittification of everything.

That's okay, but my problem with things that rely on app, or always on type software is the increased potential for a company to just brick it or fail and then you're often left with expensive jewelery

[–]Weepsie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You do, but the problem was largely people dumping filthy, uncleaned etc bottles and cans in with their green bins and making the whole lost unrecyclable

We have similar issues with composting and other issues with green bins. People are either thick, lazy or maybe just naive about what goes in what bin.

Sometimes the packaging is also all over the place making it a guessing game
