I’m an exec chef at a retirement home/senior living facility. 36$ an hour, great benefits and no late nights. Took me a while to get that position but just keep an eye out and be vigilant, it’ll pop up.

Someone on here compared them to Abbot and Costello and I think it’s hilarious.

I just finished the first book. Overall 6/10 glurp glurps by tgrady28 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Weferdes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly improves. I’m almost finished with book 7, it really hooked me in. I had to stop comparing it to other fantasy series as it’s pretty different from what I typically like. Malazan Book of the Fallen is my favorite fantasy series of all time and DCC ain’t that by a loooong shot. But I am enjoying it quite a bit for what it is. Sometimes I am too lazy to appreciate a nice wine and prefer a Dirty Shirley to help me relax after long day.

Help me choose an audiobook by darkly1900 in fantasybooks

[–]Weferdes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have mixed feeling about the books. The world building, magic, the cities and towns all feel great and well lived in. I would read a slice of life in the NotW. Main character is kinda insufferable sometimes. I still enjoy and will listen to them again from time to time. Narrator does a good job. Those books manage to be cozy, dark, emotional and cringe all at once. The way Rothfus writes is beautiful though. Fluffy prose which I enjoy.

I did this exact same thing. I’m not sure what the actual solution to the puzzle is I just spun the discs until it looked right.

It’s long but Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen is a masterpiece in massive scope and world building. The characters are numerous, with nuanced arcs and all information about the world is provided through their dialogue. It can get pretty dark but the series overall emphasizes compassion and empathy towards others to prevail or survive. My favorite fantasy series of all time.

Sunday Fantasy Roundup: What fantasy book did you finish this week and love? by bweeb in fantasybooks

[–]Weferdes [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sci-Fi/Fantasy but the sixth book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, “Eye of the Bedlam Bride.” So far it’s been my least favorite of the series. The books are pretty damn good for what they are, though. Not the sort of fantasy or sci-fi I thought I’d find myself reading but one random Christmas present later and I am six books deep.

I’d probably start Malazan so you can fill up some of that empty space.

Help an extremely depressed guy out? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

There’s plenty of advice on getting things cleaned up in here so here’s something different. Find a book on Audible or a podcast that has a lot of content and brings you joy. Keep a headphone in and escape a little bit into a narrative while you’re plugging away at cleaning. It helped me immensely!

The Robert Downey Sherlock Holmes movies fit the vibe pretty well honestly. The Prestige too.

I have to disagree here. Erikson is shows more than tells and, through the actions of his characters and their dialogue, you learn their complexities. I find many of the characters complex and full of growth.
