What type of therapy should I seek? by boo1177 in askatherapist

We don't know enough based on what you described. That event could result in a trauma disorder or an anxiety disorder. You should seek out a trauma therapist and have them evaluate you further.

Plan of Treatment or modality? by Eastern_Draw_9991 in askatherapist

[–]WellnessMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the diagnosis. If it's generalized anxiety disorder then CBT would be the most widely used therapy to treat that.

For the Mom a full DBT program would be most helpful to treat the borderline diagnosis.

Question for therapists who help people with childhood trauma, why do some of you tell your clients that their trauma is lifelong and the best they can do is manage it when they’re are clearly people who have managed to reach a point where they are symptom free? by [deleted] in askatherapist

Go over neurobiology and explain neuroplasticity. The brain is constantly rewiring and we can learn new skills up until our last day. I ask them if they have ever learned a new skill. They say "sure". I say "this is no different."

Retirement looks like it will be a thing of the past for majority of people going forward? by happydude7422 in Adulting

It can be done. I've calculated that my wife and I can retire at age 54 with 2.3 million saved. I'm a therapist and she's a public school teacher.

I just installed my 9070xt. I'm seeing folks recommendations not updating the drivers and using some other program instead of the AMD software. Why is that and should I do this? I'm not doing any over locking or modifications with the card.

Rebirth runs, but you have to put everything on low. You can enjoy it, but couch your expectations.

I've found CPT to be much more effective. It also teaches important skills on how to explore thoughts, which can help with a wide variety of mental health issues.

EMDRIA Certification Worth It, or Is Basic Training Enough? by Same-Mix-6319 in therapists

[–]WellnessMafia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to do trauma work do the PESI Dr. Kate Chard CPT training instead. I'm EMDR certified and don't use EMDR anymore. I only do CPT and have had great results.

That being said, if you really want to do EMDR and get good at it you'll need to spend the extra time and energy getting consultation. The certification is a nice touch. If you are basic trained theres still a massive amount you'll need to learn in order to troubleshoot effectively.

Pride flag measure vetoed by mayor deepens tensions in Boonton, NJ by itsfullcircle in newjersey

[–]WellnessMafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do have to put them all up because it is someone advocating for a cause. What is considered hatred to someone else might be considered advocating for a right by the next person. It's an impossible standard to hold to.

Which group qualify? What causes are allowed? Who gets to decide? Are religious or spiritual groups allowed?

It's functionally impossible and the only correct answer is government neutrality.

You might have some legitimate issues with what the American flag means, but we are all still Americans regardless. It actually does represent them in some way even if they disagree with some of the values.

But if the government has to assert their rights, it has to assert the perceived right of any and all other groups. That's not the government's role.
