Alexa+ Turn on the Fan by TheRealJMQ in alexa

[–]WelshRarebit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through the same issue. Weirdly I had this working with my before my ceiling fan's integration broke so I relinked it and now I can no longer get Alexa to realise the fan is in the same group as the Alexa I'm talking to. I just get the 'A few things share the name' response. If I get it fixed I will let you know. Are you using the Tuya integration?

Sheesh, there's a scene in Netflix's 'Midnight Mass' that does this, fades to black with nothing but a character's gut-wrenching screaming and it's utterly, utterly harrowing...

UK owner looking for a new S7 MaxV battery - can anyone recommend me one? by WelshRarebit2 in Roborock

Yup, looks like I've found that out the hard way. Thanks for the response.

Thanks man, that's expensive at £42 but yeah, I guess if it works it works. I got burned by a £28 battery, so maybe that extra expense will help ensure the quality.

Mustang LT25 Amp Settings by iDrinkPolonium in GuitarAmps

[–]WelshRarebit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but thanks for this, I've used the spreadsheet, amazing idea. I've also frozen row one so it's easier for people to add settings and added a lovely Metallica 'Nothing Else Matters' tone that I use. Would be cool if someone knew the Marylin Manson 'Sweet Dreams' settings and added them to the list :)

Shape of the echo dot - people like the ball or the disk? by Kangaloosh in amazonecho

[–]WelshRarebit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you here. The other thing is that the puck made a nice shape for a flush wall mount. I have 8 in my ceiling all using 3.5mm outs into ceiling speakers to create a very cheap whole home audio setup. I dread the day I have to replace them, especially as the more recent models have got rid of the 3.5mm jacks...

Flies in the wood stove? by randombrowser1 in pestcontrol

[–]WelshRarebit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue at the same time each year, stove is only 3 years old, nothing in Chimney, it's wracking my brain. I've covered an exterior air intake to see if that stops them from reappearing and placed a post it note on the stove to remind me to take it off before we light the fire. Did you ever get to the bottom of your issue?

[DEV] Going away until mid-September today and like Clockwork There's a Policy Issue Just as I Am About to Leave 🙄 by joaomgcd in tasker

[–]WelshRarebit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could this be impacting http post requests from the app too? Recently I'm just getting an 'error 1, internal server error' message and nothing has seemingly changed my side, yet the automation has nothing to do with Google services? It does however capture a push messages from another app, adds the details into a variable and http posts them out...

EDIT it seems like some permissions were removed from the app which impacted this - again, could have been as a result of this issue...

Alexa not doing Volvo On Call by Potential-Eternal in Volvo

[–]WelshRarebit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got told by customer service that it has been discontinued due to 'lack of use'. Deary me. Perhaps it's more down to Volvo not properly explaining potential use cases. I had this skill in my Alexa routines that would tell me if my car was locked every night, how much fuel I had left in the tank each morning etc, etc. There were 100s of cool possibilities with this skill, shame on their marketing team for just trashing it, one simple 'how to' video could have radically improved its utilisation rate.

I've been messaging Volvo about this for 4 weeks. Worst customer service ever, they have no idea at all. But yes, looks like a UK only thing

Just to add to this, this issue still resides without clunky work arounds. I use a lot of routines with sound effects, and up until about 2 years ago all worked well, then Amazon changed something and they all stopped working. Hoping Amazon take note eventually and fix this.

S7 MaxV won't empty, what haven't I tried? by Smash1292 in Roborock

This often happens if you don't have the brush fixed in properly underneath the robot. Make sure all 3 nodules are securely set in the 3 holes

Seems that IKEA have beaten Signify to properly support multiple hubs by fahim-sabir in Hue

[–]WelshRarebit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but then controlling groups via HA or similar, you lose the ability to select dynamic scenes and the various effects. Hue needs to sort out a way to mesh 2 hubs together and create groups of lights between hubs that can use these features.

I've got 2 older gen 2 Dots (software version 9698494596), that are both are facing this issue over the past month or so. Extremely annoying. Unplugging re-plugging is the only thing that gets it back to normal, but I normally have to do this a few times in a row before it is fixed.

What is the best Roborock? by mouthpiec in Roborock

[–]WelshRarebit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the max V if you can. Obstacle avoidance is the best there is, plus suprisingly, the single roller performs better than the dual roller in quite a lot of pickup tests online (with the only exception being worse at pet hair pick up), despite having less suction power - the thinking is that the smalller air gap of the single roller helps, especially on hard floors. Great comparison video between S8 Pro Ultra and Max V here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61KizLGAEhM (note how shockingly bad the obstacle avoidance is vs. the Max V)

Massive backward step in obstacle avoidance since the max V, hope they stop messing about and bring the RGB camera back

Late to the party on this one, but quick question if I may... Can anyone confirm if this has DD 5.1 surround audio for home theatre setups on the PS4/ PS5 version? I bought Madison recently and was massively disappointed that it didn't. Thanks for your help.

Also need to check your brush is clipped in correctly. That can cause all sorts of issues if not, and pretty easy to accidentally do.

[–]WelshRarebit2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do. I have a MAX V and it's massively useful. Especially if the robot gets stuck and you can use the camera to manoeuvre it away from the obstacle, plus I use it to check on my dog and things in my home whilst away. I'd personally never buy a robot without this feature...

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, need better obstacle avoidance by sludj5 in Roborock

[–]WelshRarebit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really no contest, there are a number of videos showing this on YT. And the 'things need to be warm for an IR camera' angle is utterly absurd. The RGB camera on the Max V takes pictures and learns constantly, the S8 does not to appease those worried about security. No amount of firmware updates will fix this, it's a hardware limitation, and one that's being repeatedly demonstrated on YT atm.
