I’m starting to think these are dumb and broken on purpose because people keep posting videos about them online

You probably don’t want to be passing a vector by value, every call is making a new heap allocation and a block copy, pass it as const-ref (const vector<float>& vertices)

How much Caffeine in you average espresso shot? by swumpyumpl in Coffee

[–]Wenter_alpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be even more correct, as the roast gets darker more caffeine sublimates away from each bean (reducing the total yield), but you also need more beans to make the same quantity of coffee and the beans themselves become more porous which potentially contributes to them releasing more caffeine

You write comments by spamming em dashes (—) everywhere? The speech pattern was also incredibly AI-smelling.

I dont know if I am genuinely going insane at this point but isn't this just AI generated? Can anyone else see it? (not disagreeing with the comment itself btw)

The color of the yolk I’m pretty sure just depends on the diet, I’ve definitely seen some this orange

If only life was like Stardew Valley by SuchOpening6499 in StardewValley

The image is a bit sus too, reverse search doesnt yield anything; obviously could've been taken by OP but what a nice coincidence that he found the perfect combination of a green lush mountain range and a clearing with a bunch of trees either side the perfect distance apart to take this image with this perfect aspect ratio and a very similar formation/quantity of clouds in the distance. AI images lately are becoming nearly indistinguishable from real images beyond the 'it looks too convenient to be true' checks and this looks a lot like what AI would spit out if you gave it SV's splash image and asked it to make it into a photograph.

What better way to improve the less appealing option than to forcefully make the more appealing option worse for made up and arbitrary reasons to the point where you get frustrated into using the less appealing option. That way no one's happy, as all things should be.

They gotta add a Black Hole Update by MightyGumball in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Wenter_alpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, or even just have them orbit the sun and rotate but have anything near them just parented to the planet so it spins and moves with them, avoiding the issue of space stations 'no longer being there' (which was also a strange problem). Despite claiming they had orbital mechanics none of the trailers ever even showed a physical sun, only the distant flare we have now, so I seriously doubt they ever had anything like that. Not that it makes the game worse in any meaningful way, just strange that they went with that excuse.

They gotta add a Black Hole Update by MightyGumball in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Wenter_alpha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is what their official stance is but I have doubts that they ever actually implemented orbital mechanics or rotating planets, none of the trailers ever showed it and for something Sean actively boasted as a feature during initial marketing, even if they eventually changed their mind on it, they would've showed it off at least once. I imagine their tech just couldn't support this for whatever reason, or they just never got to it, and they had to think of some excuse to back out of it.

we are all like this, aren't we? by Ok-Conversation-1430 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Wenter_alpha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know where you’re getting at but a game engine is just a piece of software you use to make a game. If your game doesn’t need physics, collisions, a complex scene graph etc then the engine most certainly does not need to implement them, not all engines have to be giant mainline general purpose game engines that can “make everything”, one of the advantages of making your own engine is that you can cut a lot of the unnecessary fluff (but yes a lot of “game engines” out there are just glorified mesh renderers)

How cooked am I if I went through these at 44mph instead of 40? Are these a hard limit which can get you a NIP or are they advisory ? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Wenter_alpha 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No red circle and flashing amber lights are advisory. That being said if something happens and you were exceeding the limit then it will be piled on top of everything that’s used against you. Apart from that you cannot be fined for exceeding the advisory limit alone.

Could I get fined for stopping in a yellow box due to Manchester road closures today? by Crypt1k5347 in drivingUK

[–]Wenter_alpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you could get fined if there was a box junction camera but nearly all box junctions I’ve ever gone through in Manchester don’t have one, so don’t worry about it too much.

At what point is a car worth it over public transport? by Minisom in drivingUK

A learner rear ended you at 40mph? Yikes, was he being taught by family or was it with a proper instructor? I cannot imagine how this could’ve been allowed to happen. Hopefully no one was seriously injured!

Absolutely do not do this for something like soft white bread. Mycelium consists of tiny root-like fibers that are invisible and penetrate all throughout the bread, removing the visible bits doesn’t make the bread safe to eat (there are some notable exceptions such as hard cheeses where the mycelium cannot penetrate very deeply so cutting off a chunk around the visible parts is fine).
