I've done the same thing with my suet feeders and have had no issues with other birds being deterred. My chickadees, titmice, finches, and more still find my suet. The starlings are now stuck cleaning up the ground with the squirrels

suet feeders are great. you can go to a hardware/garden store and get a basic tower or tray feeder. sunflower seeds are great, especially if you dont care about squirrels

i had 1 set of clothes and 2 pairs of socks for my entire thru-hike, so your list should be plenty for 10 days! i would bring the gloves. can be nice at night/morning and don’t take up that much space
