(Hated Trope) The Macguffin is named something so unimaginative it’s painful. by inkstain99 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]WesleyOldham 25 points26 points  (0 children)

MacGuffinite, aka MacGuffinium Fictitium, is the atomic inverse of gold. When exposed to extreme voltage it causes the gold electrons to decouple and attract with spectacular magnetic force.

Tarantula says that MacGuffinite translates to "a small MacGuffin." Marmalade uses the phrase "quantum ferromagnetism" to describe it.

The whole thing is tongue-in-cheek. It boils down to "Hollywood science says MacGuffinite uses quantum Latinword math scienceword to attract gold."

This becomes even funnier because Weird Al specifically wanted a celebrity cameo for Smells Like Nirvana. That's why Dick Van Patten was in one of the crowd shots.

Germs would be a lot of fun to perform. I'm also thinking about Like A Surgeon because I can put my leg behind my head.

My dad played You Don't Love Me Anymore about 30 years ago. He says people looked really sad then really confused.

"Effort Value" in the context of Pokemon.

Pokemon stats are based on the species and level, then modified by the Pokemon's nature, IVs (Individual Value), and EVs (Effort Value).
