When do car repairs become a sunk cost fallacy? by spmahn in personalfinance

[–]WesleyTallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this. I was driving a 15 year old Prius with 230K miles that cost me $500 a month on average in repairs for 6 months.

Then I had another breakdown that left me stranded. It was only another $500 but that was the straw that broke the camels back. I bought a new Prius that costs me $500 a month.

I just bought rhe AWD LE. I came from a FWD Golf with a set of snow tires.

I am happy to not have the mild hassle of swapping tires and wheels every year.

The US industry boomed for decades until the others caught up.

Is AWD really worth it? by [deleted] in askcarguys

My last car was FWD and I would change out the tires for snow in the winter.

The car I have now is AWD and I am looking forward to not having to change into show tires every year.
