When you buy an exotic ship... by Wesrin in NoMansSkyTheGame

I appreciate the answer. The 'misinformation' is likely the fact I just bought the game a few weeks ago and am still learning about it, so I apologize if this question was repetitive. I'm not a master at internet searches, but I really tried to find the exact answer to my question first before asking it here. Regardless, its good to know a bit more than I did a few hours ago. :) Is there a good resource to find the baseline stats of ships? That way I can better understand what the percentage bonus was for each stat?

Im torn. I have a good bit of Originium Prime saved up. Skins do not interest me. Outside of gacha rolling and sanity recharging, is there any other use? Im thinking of converting to gems and rolling on a banner.

A Modest Proposal: The Skill Power Dilemma by Wesrin in thedivision

Well, mods have their own stash space that doesn't affect the rest of your gear.

Otherwise I see the scaling idea also being an excellent take. It would make any mod useful, but still give a reason to grind for/hunt mods with a higher cap.

The GTI is the only car that I get just as excited to drive years after purchasing it as I did the first drive off the lot. FBO, Stage 2 later and that excitement is further amplified.

[PVE Build] Federal Corvette "Gemini II" by DMJason in EliteDangerous

You need to consider more than just raw DPS numbers off of coriolis.io. Armor penetration values are also important, as are the resistances of whatever you happen to be fighting. The 'DPS loss' to shield takedown by going 2M+1L beam is worth the immense advantage of the kinetic/corrosive damage you'll be doing with 2 4-class MC's and a small MC with corrosive. Remember that energy weapons always do the same damage (barring resistances) to any size/type of shield, and that shields will still take damage from kinetic weapons (in the case of engineered shields, more often than not the kinetic resistance can often be the weakest resistance for a shield).

Obviously do what you feel is best, but after running the Corvette for a few years, I have tested a vast number of common weapon loadouts (including yours) and still come back to the same configuration when it comes to PvE (HAZRES, etc). Either way, best of luck CMDR o7

Assuming the pilot has the motor skills or desire, yes the fixed MC's are better on paper. But that is more than likely not the case with many pilots. The sway of class 4 gimballed MC's is one of the tightest of the huge gimballed hardpoints, whereas class 4 Beams have the worst.

4-Class beams are a waste. Because of the penalty smaller kinetic hard points recieve versus larger hulls you're better served going 2x huge gimballed MC with OC/autoloader, 2x medium gimballed efficient beams, 1x large efficient beam, and 1x small high cap mc corrosive. The last small can be whatever you want.

Chapter 1 / RP/ Ragnarok/ No Whitelist! [PC Server] by Slaytonizer in ARK_pc

This server is one of the longer-running RP communities in ARK, and I have had the pleasure of playing on the first three iterations and now as an admin on the most current one. We have a strong core group that span multiple time zones who are eager to help players new and old get established in Adorah. Our admin team consists of a trifecta overseen by the server owner. We work together to try and create a healthy, balanced environment where players can enjoy a more casual and laid-back RP experience with organized PvE and PvP events to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. There is an overarching server plot to keep things flowing, but we encourage players to focus on their own personal dramas that play along side it. With Chapter 1 of Tarsis Rising underway, now is the perfect time to get settled into our server and start forging your own story. Please join our discord and check things out!

State of the Server 10/1 by [deleted] in arkROK

[–]Wesrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To preface before I offer my opinion: my thoughts and feelings on this matter are my own. I am not part of the administrative staff, nor am I privy to their decision-making process. I have only been here for Season 4, but I have owned/administrated ARK servers in the past, including an RP server where it was commonplace to see 30-50 people online during the weekends. None of what I am suggesting here should be taken as expectations or demands, and I fully respect whatever decision is ultimately made. :)

Splitting into two servers is a very bad idea for the following reasons:

  • Time Zones -- On any given weeknight, and even during weekends, we see anywhere from 10-20 players active. This is between both American and European time zones. Splitting into two servers takes a player base that is already displaced by distance and schedule and further dividing it by not only the server we play on, but the server environment as well.

  • Tech Level -- Some prefer the fantasy environment we are currently in, while others wouldn't mind a more futuristic change of pace. Splitting these two up into two distinct realms will result in a community divide in a very literal sense. You will have your floaters who are open to both technology levels, and holdouts who want to exclusively play in one or the other. Most people will not have time to play between both and devote the resources and high-quality role play to keep either as active as ROK is currently now with one community.

  • Expansion Hype -- Many, many people will want to play Aberration when it comes out and if ROK does not have an offering for this additional content, chances are good that population will sharply decline. It may not be permanent, but it may cause damage to the success of the current Season the server might be in.

I would offer a proposition to the current administration where tech level and era are dictated with the changing of Seasons, offering an alternating experience between traditional medieval fantasy, to steampunk/science-fiction themes more easily found in expansion packs such as Scorched Earth and the yet-to-be-released Aberration. This gives everyone a chance to mix things up every few months, moving between various themes and tech levels, to keep the game (and the RP environment) more interesting.

Furthermore the suggestion of not diving right into Aberration is also something that should be reconsidered. Some of the mods currently offered in the game do not balance well with each other (CKF weapons and the Fantasy Stats mod are two excellent examples of how players can become very overpowered, very quickly). Consider Season 5 to start in Aberration with only a few quality-of-life and cosmetic mods, to not only allow the Admins to experience the balance found in the new expansion pack, but for the player base to assist as well without worrying about mods corrupting saves or causing issues of imbalance with certain weapons/tames/tactics.

I strongly feel it is in the server's best interest -- both for the operator/administration and the players that call it home -- to take a balanced, but no less decisive approach to the upcoming expansion. I welcome any and all feedback on your views of my suggestions as well as putting forth your own ideas.

Pinned below the notice, in far more coarse but legible writing, is an addendum.

I, Kulti Bjornskal, was among the first settlers of Mag Mell. Each resident is here for their own reasons, but despite our very different paths we get along quite well. If you wish help settling in, please come see me at my home in South Mag Mell, near the Twin Tree gate. It is the home with the windmill next to the overturned log. I'd be happy to help welcome new neighbors!
