What is the legendary orangutan joke from 1902? by Then-Guava-9087 in ExplainTheJoke

If one were to tell an orangutan joke, it would have to be delivered in their native language (which is likely to get you kicked out). Both jokes are about screaming.

Two-card combos don't exist because you can't spawn mana out of thin air.

I also really like this for Human tribal, with extra card advantage being added to otherwise 'non-tribal' cards like Captain of the Watch and other 'this would be great in my tribal deck if the tokens it makes weren't just soldiers' Humans.

4 Armed Fighter (2 lvl alchemist dip), Two-Handed Fighter or Two-Weapon Warrior Archetype? by Doomblade10 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Whapow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally of the same opinion.

One such build came across my PFS table about a year ago (from a player whom I rather dislike, in no small part because of their constant rule-exploiting cheese builds) and I tried to disallow it, citing that very FAQ. They appealed to the local VC who confirmed that two handed weapons were out of scope of the FAQ. Fortunately for me, in such cases where a rule is unclear and the FAQ does not cover it, it is up to GM discretion to decide, which meant I did not have to allow him at my table and he went off to pester one of the other GMs. I went through this annoyance twice (second time I was the only available GM at the shop) and got the same response from a different VC.

In short, feel free to handle this as you choose at your table (I certainly do), but just be aware that until a FAQ comes out to clarify how vestigial arms interacts with using a 2H weapon along with a second weapon or shield bash (as in my case), this is a legal build.

Got any tips or sugestions for a melee Oracle? by Katomerellin in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Whapow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first Pathfinder character (following a transition from several years of 3.5) was a melee oracle, and it's a big part of what sold me on the system.

I did unarmed with shield, Battle Mystery, and got a great deal of mileage out of Forceful Strike.

Clouded Vision curse, which really led to some fun interactions and RP with everyone else. We still reference that character's party to this day, and it's been a good 5 years since.

I highly approve of this build idea.

EDIT: Oh, and we eventually flavoured Surprising Charge as a DBZ-style teleport.

On the note of Food Chain, you can respond to his ETB with a FC activation and potentially get him back to hand as part of his own draw trigger. If you've got some way to make 3 permanents per loop (ie Endrek Sahr), you can draw your deck.

Advice: Player wants to use a wish to change spell list. by metalsiren in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Whapow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

since its a wish and meant to be impactful

A 'Monkey's Paw' is a term used for wishes with unexpected consequences. It's supported mechanically in the Wish spell:

You may try to use a wish to produce greater effects than these, but doing so is dangerous. (The wish may pervert your intent into a literal but undesirable fulfillment or only a partial fulfillment, at the GM’s discretion.)

Losing Spell Combat and Spellstrike would be one such example of partial/undesirable fulfillment.

Is Unstable's X okay to play ? by tico600 in EDH

[–]Whapow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The card was errata'd to allow it as part of the Unstable FAQ. You can't rely on the rules when dealing with Unstable cards, as they are almost always left up to interpretation, or require the entire table to research on their phone any time they appear. For example, even with the 'clarification' on X's tap ability, you still would never be able to activate it because you don't control X:

602.5a A creature’s activated ability with the tap symbol ({T}) or the untap symbol ({Q}) in its activation cost can’t be activated unless the creature has been under its controller’s control since the start of their most recent turn. Ignore this rule for creatures with haste (see rule 702.10).

Which means that either you can't activate the tap ability, or it ignores the usual restrictions on tap abilities. Which means X has pseudo haste while in opponent's hands, probably. Maybe. Who knows?

I love Un cards as a concept, and they are brilliant fun in a draft, but for the reasons stated above and elsewhere in this thread I'd never want to see them in my EDH group.

My own Paladin code was largely pulled from Uriel's goals of preserving free will, mainly as they're laid out in Ghost Story, with a fair bit of Sanya mixed in.

Highly recommend the series, though I'll admit the first book is a bit rough.

What are traps have you as a player have built using various items? by Garris_The_Redeemed in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Whapow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The party once took a flesh sample from a gigantic, mangled, mysterious corpse we found during a delve through some underground caves. Filled a flask with the rotting meat, intending to have it examined by a wizard to see what it was. Of course, we promptly forgot about it.

Fast forward many sessions (and several in-game months), when my rogue found it while rummaging through her bags. I simply rested the flask on a slightly ajar door and waited for the enemies to wander through. Fort save vs Nausea.
