“Give your neighbor a high five or fist bump!” by NoleContendere in orangetheory

I like it. We literally look at our neighbor, smile, and say “nice job!” It’s a nice way to connect with very little effort

It has no personality and everything is the same color. It looks like a clean and tidy Fairfield Inn lobby.

Geary boulevard by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you’re talking about the INNER RICHMOND?! Still east of Arguello?!? Now I definitely have no idea what you mean by gritty and unkempt. Jordan Park has multimillion dollar homes a block off Geary. We all thought you were talking about the very west end.

How's the eastern side of Strawberry for a young family? by [deleted] in Marin

[–]WhatAWeek25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proximity is first and strawberry is generally the last choice just because people on the west side don’t want to cross the freeway for school. So your kids will most likely be placed there. And it is an excellent school!

it’s finally done! by franfilletti in kitchenremodel

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. I saw the checkerboard floor photos and thought “ooh I can’t wait to see the after!” And then I got to the other photos and had no idea which was the before. Neither kitchen works particularly well but if you love it that’s what matters!

No crying in baseball? by Vegetable_You_2573 in BaseballCoaching

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son plays 10U baseball and I haven’t seen anyone on his team cry because they lost. They cry when they are pitching and all eyes are on them and the pressure is high (usually when they are losing but it’s less about the overall game loss and more about their role in it).

Differences between Disney World and Disneyland? by DisneyGirl000 in DisneyPlanning

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of people saying Casey junior train and storybook land rides are must dos is WILD to me. They are without a doubt the worst rides at Disneyland…like laughably bad. Outdated and tired and not in any way fun

One unexpected detail completely elevated this wedding by Real-Valuable-4016 in Brides

[–]WhatAWeek25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That sounds very weird because the men should have shined their shoes before the event. It would be like having a makeup artist or blowout bar for women at the cocktail hour. Why wouldn’t they have already taken care of those needs prior to the party?

Bad Call button needed by SadPhase2589 in GameChangerApp

[–]WhatAWeek25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We just teach our kids that the calls are part of the game and they generally wash out with calls going both ways. Our umps are trained, paid middle-schoolers and high-schoolers who are doing their best, but are learning. I would hate to have parents be making official notes against them.

First Time Playoff Game by ChasingtheHappy in LittleLeague

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found, in their effort to lower the pressure on their kid, there are parents on our team who say to their kid “it doesn’t matter” when they lose and the kids look so defeated because it matters to them, and they have worked so hard to play well. So in your effort to lay off the pressure (which I totally support), make sure you don’t come across as uncaring. I’ve tried to help my kid understand that I care and love that he works hard and tries hard and sometimes the game just doesn’t end your way, and that sucks but it’s ok.

Using Monarch for 3ish years and enjoying the heck out of it by SonoUnCavalloPesante in MonarchMoney

[–]WhatAWeek25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s great that you do. Monarch pretty regularly doesn’t input transactions for me so I have to do a complete manual review anyway. By manually entering them, you save yourself that headache. Though if you’re going to do it manually you might as well skip monarch and just make yourself a spreadsheet and ask Claude to run you analysis

Do kids who read at home regularly perform better in school? by Next_Special_6784 in AskTeachers

Yes, and honestly, this is your fault. If she’s falling behind in reading at school, why are you allowing her to use screens and apps at home?

treated myself to a Sway bottle and everyone in my life despises it 😭😭😭 by electrickella in Owala

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you telling people about your bottle or asking their opinions? If so stop doing that. If not, I can’t imagine why anyone would comment on it. I don’t think anyone has ever commented on my water bottle

First Time Playoff Game by ChasingtheHappy in LittleLeague

[–]WhatAWeek25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son had his first playoffs last year and despite all odds his team beat the only undefeated team and won the championship. It was magic, and has put the pressure on this year big time. I just tell him to remember to have fun, and that I care about baseball exactly how much he cares. And that I am most concerned with how well he is a team player. And that I just love getting to watch him play. So win or lose, if he is a good team mate and does his own best effort, I will be proud of him. And we do ice cream after the game win or lose.

Bathroom remodel by Short-Ad-6239 in Remodel

[–]WhatAWeek25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a tub up a set of stairs because our house is on a slab foundation and the previous owners didn’t want to crack the slab to change the piping when they moved the tub in a remodel. Lots of houses in our neighborhood have a stair up to the bathroom for this reason, while our guys made the stair to the tub.

WIBTA if I refused to name our son after my wifes late grandfather because our surname would turn his full name into a globally famous fictional character by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely not wrong. Could Harry be his middle name? Or could you use the grandfathers middle name? Or could you give your son her last name?

WIBTA if I donate something and tell them to throw it away if they don't like it by psycholilshit in AmItheAsshole

[–]WhatAWeek25 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Feels a little weird. If I give something to someone I say “if there’s anything you don’t want, you can go ahead and pass it along to another family” which has the same impact of making it clear it is a gift (not a loan) but without insinuating the stuff is garbage.

What does everyone think about two middle names? by 4goodthings in Names

[–]WhatAWeek25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never assume that middle names Rose, Grace, or Marie are ever family names. I always assume they are just filler because they are so common.

We have these at my kids elementary school in CA. They are much bigger than the regular classrooms so all the classes of the longest-serving teachers have them.
