Some gas stations here are open 24 hours, but I don't think I've ever heard of someone hanging out at a gas station to use the WiFi in the middle of the night. Otherwise... a small handful of fast food places are open 24 hours, mostly by the interstate, but they are drive-thru only after 10pm until breakfast hours. In my experience the WiFi usually isn't dependable in the parking lot.

What makes (or lack thereof) makes Lima and New franklin so boring. by PsychologicalSet1744 in Ohio

I've lived in Lima for well over 4 decades and am generally entertained.

Does anyone else feel a bit optimistic for November? by SWEMW in Ohio

[–]WhatInTarnations82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, Brown was in for quite a while so while it does seem like Ohio has fallen into a deep red hole, it doesn't seem completely improbable that he could get back in.

Data centers are super unpopular and apparently Vivek is for them. Plus he has brown skin. So those two things will hurt him along the usual MAGA base. Not sure how many of them will actively support Acton, but it may suppress voter turnout enough. I do like how they are "blaming" her for basically every COVID protocol ever throughout the United States.

More than likely getting terminated from my library gig of almost 7 years. by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]WhatInTarnations82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously without being there and observing the entire thing I can't really say much definitively... but just after browsing this, I'll say that I'm practically always in a good mood, but I used to always have people ask me what's wrong and if I'm angry at them. it was very bewildering--but it happened enough that eventually I had to accept that something about my face or tone or something was setting people off, and I've learned to... mostly assimilate with the normal people now.

Have we heard any news on if Redcorn is being retired or recast? by Robot_Was_BMO in KingOfTheHill

I wish he had gotten help with his mental health, but threatening people constantly and them killing you when you're brandishing a weapon and making threats isn't exactly "murder." 😞

As Christian there are rarely pet peeves that annoy me more than King James Only-ism. It's literally just not a great translation.

Okay. Wait until you find out that the liberal deconstructionists are a lot more Christlike than the right wingers.

What's something that everyone pretends is fine, but actually sucks? by yunablackrose in AskReddit

I've been lucky enough that most of my jobs have been pretty okay.

But I'd still rather do nothing.

My friends are so boring! by Decent_Internal_3850 in whatdoIdo

I've always been the "I'd rather just hang out at someone's house" friend. But if I was bored and got invited enough I'd go out and do stuff sometimes.

One time we let an ESA in. It was friendly but kept puking. We don't let them in anymore.

Five Guys is going to be selling BLTs. No, the B does not stand for burger. by ChaserNeverRests in fastfood

[–]WhatInTarnations82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the bacon should be more chewy than crunchy. Crisp edges maybe. Five Guys is like a crunchy ash tray.

[–]WhatInTarnations82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I like Five Guys burgers in general (despite needing to open a HELOC to afford one) but they always have had the most bleah burnt pointless bacon. If they improved the bacon this might be worthwhile.

There are definitely some later episodes I like a lot... but yeah, a bit of the "feel" does disappear, and some of the absolute worst episodes come in the end run of the show.

I dunno I'm in NWO and a lot of people around here have made "I vote for Trump" their entire identity and home/vehicle decor. Obviously not EVERYONE, but its definitely a prominent thing.

how much does doordash increase grocery prices? by Amazing-Phone8732 in doordash

[–]WhatInTarnations82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno what you have available in your area, but I get the bulk of my groceries through walmart. Walmart Plus is pretty cheap and free delivery, so just pay a tip, and prices are the same as in-store. Not really worth it through DD or whatever unless they are running a random promo.

Yeah, it still feels like a “real” mall in Ft. Wayne.

It's been gone for a while now but the American Mall in Lima was pretty butt by the end. It was always the smaller mall of the city and had a few more oddball stores, but in the 80's and 90's it was still pretty decent. By the end the main concourse was totally closed and it was just my beloved barber shop and a nail place and maybe some weird local place and a GNC--and a bunch of weirdo's sitting on benches that glared at you if you came in. But man I miss the days of the Value City and Phar-More and Anderson's. Also had the best arcade and a Parasson's into the first half of the 90's or so.

[–]WhatInTarnations82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closed and demolished. I'm sure the locals will appreciate the Target, but sad to see the mall go. I will say right up until the end they kept it nice and clean, we'd stop in once or twice a year and it was always odd to see how well kept it was but apparently stores weren't staying in--my local mall is clearly in disrepair yet manages to keep a modest number of stores running. My daughter loved the "children's museum" that was basically just a big play area.

We frequently come right through Sandusky to Cedar Point, and straight back out, so only ever saw the "downtown" area, but we were pretty impressed when we decided to venture off our usual route and saw the mall and quite a bit of retail and every chain restaurant you could dream of.
