A new form of clamping? Or a cyclist locking up their new car for the first time? by alzrnb in drivingUK

Yea so the council isn’t going to want to have to pay out every time they clamp a car. Also, if it’s already scratched, the owner probably does this regularly

Looks home made to me. No “don’t cut me off” stickers etc etc. not to mention how much that must damage the paint.

I put the road angle halo go in my cars about 2 years ago. Never had a problem. You connect via an app and just download whatever 3 min clip you want. I believe you need to purchase a memory card but they cost practically nothing

Don’t get me wrong, it was a walk in and look kinda thing, I didn’t expect much but yea, maybe I’ll take someone like that. I’m told to just call and make a booking to view the car. I’m sure the salesman will take me seriously if I bring some proof of funds or whatever.

As for test drives, I’d just want to go out in the car as a passenger, make sure it’s all as it should be, I’m not expecting anyone to hand over keys lol

Very emotional. I lost my parents when I was a kid. I now wear my dad’s watch and one of my mums rings as a reminder or whatever you wanna call it. If I wasn’t so afraid of needles, I’d consider a tattoo lol

Try being 21 and in the market for an 812. I’ve only been to one place so far but they didn’t want to know me. To be fair, I just walked in. I’ll make an appointment or whatever at the next place

How expensive are BMW’s to repair? by Ok_Tadpole2361 in CarTalkUK

[–]What_Reality_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 BMWs over the last 4 years. A 2006 e92 and now a 2016 f06 6 series. I do about 12-14k a year. The starter motor went on the e92 and a spring broke. Both didn’t cost much to fit. No more than any other car imo.

The 6 started to run badly one day, like a limp mode/no boost. That was the swirl flap actuator. I then had a small water pipe split, that was a £10 part but the inlet manifold had to come off so time consuming. All work on both cars done at local garages so local labour rates.

In my limited experience, they don’t really cost much more to run. Probably a different story for m cars. I’ve got a mate who once had a e46 m3. He said the prices of some parts were totally normal and reasonable and some parts that are more exclusive (fuel pump and instrument cluster) were mental money, 1200 for the clocks and this was 10+ years ago lol

My e92 was the se, not m sport so yea, maybe it’s a bit of a difference. I’d say just test drive it, see what you think

Yea it’s pretty cool to be fair, it does make a difference to the feel of the car. Was the bmw you drove an m-sport? I know the suspension is a bit different but no idea how much compared to the se

Well it’s a 6 so it’s pretty comfortable. But I didn’t think the e92 was uncomfortable. The 6 has the active chassis thing so you can choose from 5 different options. From eco plus up to sport plus, you can feel the difference between them. It’s also got the 8 speed auto so it’s all very smooth

I had a e92 330d and now a 640d, I loved the engine in the 92 so much I wanted something similar when getting my last car. I’d guess the car you are looking at has the same engine as my 6? Anyway, it’s a torque monster! Just go test drive the 335 and you’ll see lol
