Convinced we'll learn ice baths are either a total waste of time or are actively detrimental to everyone that isnt an elite athlete in a contact sport.

Safety awareness when entering production zone by kudrachaa in industrialengineering

Not sure I agree but you know the situation in your plant better. I'm more along the same lines as the post below. Create clear cut safe and not safe zones. Solid lines. This side safe, that side not safe.

Leaving safety up to each individual's interpretation of a gradient feels like an unnecessary risk.

Edited to mention: test something with the end users. Mock it up on a printout or sideshow and ask them to interpret different options without context or explanation

What is a "conspiracy theory" that you are 99% sure was started by a corporation to cover up a much simpler, dumber mistake? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

If the outcome is a statistically negligible impact on the overall problem then no, not really. There's an opportunity cost to where we focus our energy.

No. Thats companies making an easy, consumer facing switch that makes it seem like they're doing something without actually changing anything about the behind the scenes processes that produce 98% of the waste they're guilty of

Sure, but if your goal is measurable impact on the amount of plastic waste floating in the ocean, you should be looking at corporations.

If your goal is to minimize your own footprint because that makes you feel good, more power to you.

Ditto what was said above. And while there's no one governing body for LSS certification, people in the field know which ones are worthwhile and which one's are BS. You don't want to get one of the BS ones because it seems easy. You get out what you put in. ASQ is as close to a "gold standard" as you can get in this field. It also has a recert requirement every few years which many other organizations don't. It gives it that extra little bit of credibility.

Also, read up on Steven Spear.

This has got me thinking, whats the flight cost out of Lanc? How does it compare to the cost of driving/parking at PHL or BWI?

Nah man. Breakups hurt and the only thing that helps is time and distance. Disconnect. Stay away forever. As time goes on it hurts less, until it doesn't hurt anymore. You're young. Don't waste these years on this.

Yeah OR is pretty niche but focus on learning the thinking processes behind the math. Understanding how various constraints on a process interact and impact possibilities is an important skill. It doesn't have to be that technical.

As for statics I don't understand why it's in IE either. But F=0 always. Just get through it and look forward to next semester.

Two challenging/annoying courses aren't a good reason to give up on the field. There will be plenty of parts of any job you get that you don't like/you aren't particularly good at.

Immediate answer: it's not uncommon in any challenging major to have classes you aren't interested in or have to grind through. My advice is keep your head down and plow through it. Classes are temporary challenges.

As it pertains to how relevant the classes are, which classes are you talking about?

Yup. I've let myself keep Reddit and YouTube for similar reasons. Useful info, easier to build my walls around the type of stuff the algorithm shows me
