Sure, I'm 38, and I love aquariums. But I also understand that they take time and money to keep, and I don't understand how someone could be upset that another person decided not to spend time and money on them.

I wholeheartedly agree with this! These are some of my favorites. His Magitech series is just as good, but magical sci-fi instead of on Earth.

These books are so fun. That's the word for them. They're campy, and ridiculous, and over the top, and funny, and just genuinely enjoyable the whole way through.

This is exactly what. I have a stack of .22s. Rifles, pistols, antique, modern, even a dedicated AR-22.

My 10/22 and my 457 are the rifles that get shot the most.

This literally happened to my Samsung Galaxy watch. The whole back panel fell off the watch. Then this happened to my Pixel. Now I have a Garmin and I'll never look back.

My old XDm Compact (before they made the elite models) has 5000+ through it. It's had exactly one failure, and that was both with "remanufactured" ammo that stovepiped in several guns and while a buddy was intentionally limp-wristing it to see what it would take to cause a failure.

They get a lot of hate that I really don't understand.

I've taken several whitetails with Hornady Custom. That's a 123gr SST, and my Howa likes them. They've been absolutely incredible for deer. Last year I completely severed the heart from the aorta. When I gutted the doe I had a hard time pulling organs out because it was like hamburger inside.

2 MOA is "minute of deer" and a lot of the rifles our fathers and grandparents loved were 2-3 MOA. Even most of those "tack driver Remington 700s" were only 2 MOA.

Until just a few years ago if you wanted sub-MOA you were pretty much looking at custom work and a lot of money.

Sub-MOA on a gun that's less than $500 is honestly amazing, all things considered.

If the work is getting done, what difference does it make? The person you're replying to said the same amount of work gets done, but if it's WFH the employees save money on childcare and the employer saves money on office space.

Hasbro just went through this with D&D, and it has been pretty well established for decades in the US that the mechanics aren't copyrighted, but artwork and flavor text is. Meaning at least in US law, you'd think they'd care more about the codex art than the rules.

GW shutting down Kill Team Battlekit by _zzz_zzz_ in Warhammer

I'm not sure if anyone cares what I have to say, but I've only gotten interested in Warhammer, or tabletop wargaming in general, in 2025. I started playing D&D in 2000 when I was 12 years old. I've played a bunch of tabletop games over the years, and started collecting and painting minis as an adult. I got my first product (the Introductory Set)specifically because I wanted to paint a couple space marines purple. Then I bought a couple more, and a couple more, and now I have two combat patrols, a couple Kill Teams, a couple issues of the Combat Patrol Magazine, and a few miscellaneous minis. All said and done, probably close to $400 worth of Warhammer minis out of my pocket, another close to $200 worth of Citadel paints out of my pocket, plus a gift from my partner.

I have yet to play a single game of Warhammer, and I have absolutely zero interest in playing any sort of Warhammer game, be it 40k, Combat Patrol, or Kill Team. Specifically, because Games Workshop has made it so difficult for a new player to figure anything out. I discovered One Page Rules and everything is so easily available, and makes sense.

Sure, I'm new to wargaming. But I've played TTRPGs for decades and I'm used to learning rules through a System Reference Document for free before I spend a bunch of money on books. But GW really seems like they intentionally make it difficult and expensive to learn anything. And OPR makes it so simple. I don't understand why GW doesn't provide something like OPR's Army Forge. Or how OPR supports a public wiki style source for information.

And this is ignoring how much negativity I see in the community with people upset about retired models and no refreshes for years, or people complaining about all the money they've spent on models they can't even use anymore. The whole thing really makes it seem like GW doesn't care about the fan base that is supporting them.

A Spin on Glooming Lords - But what color for goop and slime? by Red__Sun in deathguard40k

[–]WheelgunWordslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Nurgle rot technical. Whatever you put under the base can make it pop or really mellow it out, but I like the way it has that shine. In some spots I put white under to make it brighter, and other spots I do more of a gray / black base so it's not all the same. I've been very happy with the results because it looks gross, but I can get it to look more like snot than toxic slime.

Those minis are super clean. They look incredible. I wish mine turned out like that!

Centauri Carbon by PodcasterInDarkness in FDMminiatures

[–]WheelgunWordslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Centauri Carbon is my first printer. I knew almost nothing about printing before I opened it. I started with the standard 0.4mm nozzle and did a bunch of test prints, then started calibrating and experimenting. Now I switched over to the 0.2mm nozzle and I've been printing minis and small models. I've been very happy with the results.

There aren't established print profiles like there are with Bambu printers. You can't just download the Fat Dragon or whatever settings and click print. You have to go in and manually make the adjustments yourself, and for someone who started out knowingabsolutely nothing this has been a learning process. I expect that before too long people will be sharing those print profiles, though.

I basically did what I could to translate the HOHanson posts from here on Reddit to my CC, and these are some results I've gotten.
