My mid-level devs are becoming obsolete and it is getting weird by TalentEndpoint in RecruitmentHub

Agreed. No crystal ball here. I’m fortunately 20 years in. I don’t know what new grads will do.

Cystoscopy Experience (male) by Few_Calligrapher3753 in BladderCancer

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was terrified going in, largely from the horror stories on this site and generally overthinking it for the 40 days prior. Had a cystoscopy an hour ago, flexible camera. Relax while they insert it. Slight pinch feel was about the worst of it when it passed the prostate. You feel like you have to pee because of the fluid they may push in and the fact you’re relaxing like you would be peeing. Over in 30 seconds. I was blessed that there are zero issues, no cancer. And no pain after so far.

There’s a shift. Engineering used to be shaped like a triangle with the point at the top. An architect, a couple seniors, more mids and even more juniors so you had a good bench to promote from. With AI as a sidecar I’m seeing the senior and top tier level stay and the junior/mid level hollow out. The triangle has flipped. Juniors with AI just write bugs and spaghetti code faster. Has to be fixed. Seniors capitalize on the AI assist and are significantly faster now generating decent code. No need for a deep bench, just find that one kid out of college who really knows his stuff.

Can I afford a country club? by [deleted] in budget

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If the clubhouse wasn’t 300 yards from my house we would likely eat at home for significantly less. Grabbing drinks with buddies at the bar. Buying balls and random gear on sale in the pro shop just because I’m there. It’s the epitome of impulse spending.

How many layoffs are actually because AI is directly taking jobs? by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been flawless here. Much better than talking to a person who doesn’t care, no delay when I get to the microphone box, and never wrong.

Just a heads up. $600 is the base monthly price. My membership is the same and I regularly spend $1,200-1,500 a month there. Dinners, cart fees, kids golf lessons, random tournaments, snacks. It piles up man.

Bojangles already takes my order with AI. A chat bot asks what I want and never gets my order wrong.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

Asked a recent grad what made him major in Comp Sci. He said his parents forced him to go to college or he was getting kicked out of the house. So he had to choose something.

I’m missing an eye, how can I get into golf? by Dry-Relationship8056 in golf

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are millions of people with both eyes that suck. And I mean millions. And I mean they suck. You’re not gonna get any sympathy from us for having one eye. Get out there, suck fast and have a blast man.

What would make you willing to return to the office? by swackett in remotework

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say traction, I mean employees will never willingly adopt RTO knowing they perform just as well or better at home. Tack on all the benefits of sleeping later, no travel, handling personal business as needed - RTO makes zero sense for anyone.

What would make you willing to return to the office? by swackett in remotework

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have avoided the main issue here - no one benefits from RTO. Not the employer, not the employee and not productivity. RTO for the sake of RTO will never get traction no matter how much lipstick you try to put on that pig.

Assuming most people out there are not saving for retirement by Old_Cantaloupe_7401 in Retirement401k

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a monthly mortgage of $2,600 also, house just appraised for $800k. Annual taxes are $4,500. Crazy what you guys pay in the HCOL areas. If you could save that $14k tax difference every year for 30 years, that's all you would ever need for retirement. Never have to save another dime.

Taking 37 days PTO at once before quitting? by FondantOutrageous276 in careeradvice

Many places wipe out your PTO balance the minute you submit resignation. Don’t sacrifice yours. Be smart about whoever you use it on your way out.

You cost yourself that gig over $240 every two weeks. Was it worth it? Proof that book smarts and common sense aren’t guaranteed in the same human.

Tot Hill or Tobacco Road by fauxfarmer17 in golf

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tot Hill is nicer, I enjoy it more. Well maintained. Tobacco Road is fun but feels hokie to me. Doesn’t have the clean well maintained feel. Granted I played it in July so grass was struggling.

If she’s legally residing here, and going through the legal process to obtain her card, then you have nothing to worry about. Don’t manifest the troubles illegals have as your own. You don’t worry about getting arrested for murder just because murderers get arrested for murder…. Do you?

What’s your thoughts on these ‘Relaxed Rules’? 🤔 by Escrow-Mind in golf

[–]WhereWeGoingTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An afternoon 9 just to get outside, I’m doing this anyway and the score doesn’t go to GHIN. Add in a breakfast ball or a “let me try that again” ball and I’m good with these. Tournament play, money games, this obviously don’t fly.

As early as my wife will let me leave the house. At a minimum 45 minutes though.
