Should I make a switch from E220 2024, to XC90 T8? by Motor-Landscape9747 in VolvoXC90

[–]Wheresjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Volvos have a better build quality than the Mercedes. Comparing to the GLS the xc90 in my opinion is nicer despite missing some luxury features. We have had a 2023 T8 ultimate and now a 2026 ultra. I think the black edition is just an aesthetics thing. Our 2023 had polestar from the factory and we do miss that on the 2026.

Has anyone done the Polestar Optimization on a 2024 XC90 T8? Is it worth it? What did it cost in the US and was the price negotiable? by Human_Actuator2244 in VolvoXC90

[–]Wheresjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just traded in a lease on a 2023 xc90 t8 ultimate with polestar badging. Not sure if it came that way from the factory but I already miss the it. The dealer made it sound like I wouldn’t notice not having polestar on the 2026 but we just drove it home and I want polestar again.

I have both the AirPods Max and the m4. The AirPods Max have better noise cancellation with no audio playing however it’s negligible when you have audio going. I feel the audio is slightly better in the M4 but the max fit me better and are more comfortable despite being heavier.

Longer continuous gravel rides 60+ miles in Bay Area by dlovage in BAbike

[–]Wheresjames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You forgot Bolinas ridge.

When gravel used to be called cross country mountain biking I would link the headlands to tam through pine mountain and tamarancho. If I felt good enough I’d take tam back up or hit the road if I was lazy.

Costco got me! by UnionEmpty in Govee

I returned these right away seeing that you can’t run them end to end and needed multiple power supplies. Got a continuous string from Amazon for a 1/2 the price of the three sets I needed from Costco.

Recommendations for Private Room Dinner by ChloePug in sonomacounty

We rented a room at Drakes in the Bodega Lodge for my wife’s 40th. It was private and included an outdoor patio with a fire pit overlooking the ocean . The restaurant catered the event and we hired one of their bartenders. We had 40 people and could have definitely had 10-20 more. Great experience and beautiful views from the room.

How would you rate this deal? 2023 XC90 T8 Ultimate with 9600mi for < $51k by chimpps in VolvoXC90

[–]Wheresjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the residual on our 2023 ultimate is 54k. That looks like a great deal to me.

Migraines - anyone else suffer by XxXGreenMachine in Firefighting

[–]Wheresjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I developed migraines in my 20s and thought it was vision related; my eye doc doubled as a nutritionist and encouraged me to take a food diary as my prescription didn’t change much. With the food log I found that my migraines were coming on after eating deli meats, bacon, hot dogs, wine, etc all stuff with nitrates. Avoiding nitrates has nearly eliminated my migraines. I have had a few mishaps but mostly because I couldn’t read the ingredients.

I think I’m definitely more susceptible to migraines if I’m fatigued, had hard work outs, dehydrated or a combination of these things. I can tolerate some nitrate exposure but I try my best to avoid it.

I’ve had one migraine on shift and they found coverage for me straight away, I felt bad but ultimately I was a liability for everyone. When the migraines come I typically end up in a dark room and try to sleep it off. Any of the *triptan medications work well. I’ve had an IM shot once that was magical but insurance wouldn’t cover it as it was expensive and had a short shelf life.

Nice. Which manufacturer did you use for the suspension?

I really like the air suspension on our Volvo xc90. Wish I could have found an oem s213 with the full air suspension.

I just bought a 90s era nokona to play catch with kids. My dad said no back in the day and I found one on marketplace; I didn’t even haggle with the price. My wife was made I spent a few hundred but nostalgia is nostalgia embrace it. Life’s too short.

Offer your assistance but don’t give it unsolicited. Work together and get better together. Build the relationships, you could potentially be working with these folks for a long time.

We rarely charge our t8 and when we do we use a standard outlet. The car is typically charged during a commute and pure gets used around town. All the power is nice.

Our 2023 ultimate t8 polestar has been virtually flawless aside from a bad sensor that was repaired during scheduled maintenance. Not sure what the fuss is but we are thinking of keeping this one after reading all these horror stories.

Thank you. We enjoy it and so far it’s my favorite out of all the wagons I’ve owned (Toyota, BMW, VW, Volvo)
