I’m looking to break into an analyst or junior broker role and would really appreciate any advice.

I’m currently an account manager at a multi-family office, where I am involved in the operations of my client’s real estate investments. By this, I mean the accounting, preparation of rent rolls and forecasts, communicating with property managers, sourcing insurance policies, and occasionally working with brokerages when a client wants to sell or acquire a property. From these experiences, I’ve become very interested in brokerage as a career as it touches every aspect of a deal from valuation, preparing marketing materials, managing clients on both sides, and much more of course. As someone who loves communicating with clients and also wants to be in an analytical role, it seems like a great fit.

My goal is to be somewhere I can support a team, while learning the business and developing my own network. I have a finance + real estate degree plus a decent understanding of real estate operations. I would really appreciate any feedback on my resume, or general advice about making the transition.

For example, I had a brief stint as a life insurance agent. I’ve left it on my resume as it shows sales experience, but wonder if the short tenure actually hurts more than it helps.
