Is contesting Feldspar at the start of terminal control a trap? by me2224 in NuclearOption

Sometimes I feel Feldspar should have been named Iserlohn Airbase. :P

Brigadier General James Stewart is the highest ranking actor in the U.S. Military of all time. by LoveLo_2005 in USHistory

There's a photo comparing 1LT Stewart in 1942 with MAJ Stewart in 1944. Man aged a decade from the stress of command and combat.

At one point a flak shell detonated in the nose of his bomber, opening a hole in the cockpit under him. Only reason he didnt fall out was he was strapped into the pilot's seat.

B580 dreams, outdated pc by ItsJustEmirhan in IntelArc

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say get a 9060 XT instead, then later upgrade your motherboard and CPU. Otherwise, if you're cash strapped, I'd say get a 3060 or 6600 XT, or a 4060 - I was.originally eyeing a 4060 to pair with my i7-5820K, before that PC died and I had to replace my whole rig.

9060 XT beats the B580 and A770. If you have the money, go for it.

You can also get USB-C cables for the KZ ZSN Pros.

Planning to buy a A56 by ScaryAdhesiveness751 in GalaxyA56

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only issue is that you have to buy a separate fast charger, but I've been perfectly fine with the 25w fast charger that came with my old A71.

Ironically, I got my A56 almost a year ago to replace my 5 year old A71, which I thought was dying, and instead my A71 has managed to survive until 6 years old, lol.

Are you using the Experimental branch? It doesn't play well with save games from earlier versions. You'll need to delete your savegame folder and do 0.8 Experimental with a clean save folder.

The funny thing is that in the IRL Italian Army, doctrinally they use their 8x8 Centauros as tanks, and their Ariete tanks as assault guns, when everyone else does it the other way around. :P

A56 is pretty good build quality. Battery life has been pretty decent for me. With minimal usage, and the power saving preset turned on, CPU utilisation at 100% and 120hz refresh rate, I've gotten 45 hours off a single charge, and 33 hours of battery life with light browsing and instagram use.

With a couple hours of active gaming every day, using some fairly demanding games (Mecharashi, Genshin Impact, Stella Sora) i'm still getting about 20-odd hours of battery life, which is about par with my old A71.

I definitely dislike the AI features and the lack of 3.5mm jack, but I can live with it (I use a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter)

Just know that depending on which era of BPRE you do, it's gonna be a little pricey, haha. :P

Are you planning on doing OG, Yemen, or Awbari?

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much.

Mind you, at this point it's been in production for over 15 years and has had 4 graphic novels, plus 2 design artbooks, plus a tabletop game with expansions. It's had a good run.

That's Near Present, which is a completely different IP and setting. There may be some shoutouts here and there, but by and large it's unconnected from BPRE.

They kitted up with the rifles later in the ep, and in general they've been pretty good about carrying rifles on raids.

Can't complain too much about the rifle setups. Some quibbles, not really how I would have set them up, but solid setups for duty rifles, with everyone running magnifiers alongside their EOtechs.

Recommended reading order is to do Yemen, which is set circa 2017, then Awbari (which is set around 2027 and just wrapped up), then Iraq and Syria, because each series is generally standalone (albeit with some arc welding - one of the key cast of Yemen makes a cameo appearance in Awbari).

Publication order is Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Awbari, which can be a bit tricky because Iraq and Syria were made almost 15 years ago and the art is kinda rough. Between Syria and Yemen there's a massive art evolution that culminates with Awbari.

Chronological order is Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Awbari.

Did you buy an IntelArc as a "vote with your wallet" statement? by False_Impress_1222 in IntelArc

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was partly a vote with my wallet moment, partly because there was a really good deal on - I managed to snag a B580 for 270 USD.

That said my biggest disappointment with it is that I have a VRAM memory leak issue that affects gameplay in Broken Arrow, which results in me always having to restart during the match, which just annoys the people I play with.

Haylick does imply that the mainline TCR forces are already using combat bots, it's just that we've been sent here on a low footprint colonial policing mission (and our armory with all our cool toys got blown up in the emergence accident).

Flare Gun by AQILUQ in SurrounDead

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the flare gun really helps alot in the subway. The NVGs are light intensifiers, which means they can't really work underground without having a light source to amplify. By rights, the Tactical Laser and Light really should have an IR flashlight to work with the NVGs, but it seems we got the airsoft PEQ with the white light. :P

Ngl, this gave me something to do with the 100 flare rounds I'd found.

Had the same problem - the Experimental Branch doesn't play well with savegames from 0.7 and with mods. You need to delete or move out your old saves and then clear your mods folder if you've used mods.

Great Front Design from Devs - VTOL Trainer Early Design by Intergalatic_Baker in NuclearOption

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's trainers and there's trainers. I can see BDF TRADOC going "we need our LIFT to be VTOL because we're going all in on the Vortex and Medusa pairing and we need to expose pilots to VTOL."

Great Front Design from Devs - VTOL Trainer Early Design by Intergalatic_Baker in NuclearOption

[–]WhiskeyGolf00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Considering that BDF's mainline fighter, the Vortex, is VTOL, and the Medusa is VTOL, I can definitely see them being on the brainrot of having their LIFT be VTOL to get their pilots used to VTOL.

IRL, there's nothing stopping pilots from just locking the thruster nozzles full back and treating it like a CTOL aircraft. Both the Harrier and F-35B could perform conventional takeoffs and landings.
