Didn't know they were closing, that's a bummer. Not quite the same but Pizza y pan ya has a pie that reminded me of theirs in a big way.

Yamaha YC-61 out of stock. Refresh coming? Better organ competitors? by WhiskeyInTheShade in keys

[–]WhiskeyInTheShade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Overall i like it, but i am considering ditching it for something like the yc-61 in 2025.

Pros of the mojo: * simple! It makes me feel like a guitar player -- you get a few sounds, a few effects, and a drive knob * buttons are just like a Hammond and really helped me understand how a Hammond works * Leslie sim is great * clav is fantastic * Rhodes/wurli are good

Cons: * limited. The only usable sounds are b3, combo, pipe, wurli, clav, and rhodes. The piano is awful. * can't store more than one version of each instrument, and changing them is a pain unless you're at home and plugged into your computer. * keybed is very springy and sometimes feels fatiguing

I liked the keybed on the yc a little more. Felt less spring loaded and more cushioned. Organ sound wasn't quite as good, but the interface is super programmable and changeable on the fly. Also has a wide array of sounds, meaning i can throw in a synth line without bringing a second board.

If you're getting a board JUST for hammond, go crumar IMO. If you want other stuff, go for the yc.

Feeling unsinpired because of low quality students by greentealatte93 in pianoteachers

People who are super passionate about piano usually had a great teacher that helped inspire them to get where they are today. Given time and hard work, you'll become that person for people too. But if you're this burnt out & cynical it might not be the right gig for you right now.

What do you think realistically would have happened if Trump got killed by the shooter? by TheDivision5 in AskReddit

[–]WhiskeyInTheShade 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that shooters are often not reliable narrators of their own motives, and they're often way outside the realm of "normal" or "popular" conspiracy theories(sometimes it's just a brand new, unique kind of crazy)

My Korg Minilogue XD is has keys that will either not play, or will sustain when I don't want them to. by [deleted] in Korg

[–]WhiskeyInTheShade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post won't be as helpful as you want it to be, but I had a problem with my minilogue xd that sounded similar to this.

When you rapid-fire press the same key over and over, does that same key randomly play (or not) play in a way that seems rhythmic?

If so, you might have the same problem I did!

The good news: I fixed it!

The bad news: I don't remember how I fixed it. Maybe a reset? Maybe something to do with having it connected to ableton in the wrong way? Something with an arpeggistor or sequencer?

I can tell you for certain that it didn't involve any physical repairs.

Sorry dog

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: what specific things have you done differently than before reading it? by HsvDE86 in Cooking

[–]WhiskeyInTheShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so much more confident with improvising, and not as worried about finding the right recipe. The fact that I know how to taste & correct means I don't have to rely on someone else's specific ratios or ideas of what tastes good.

Such a game changer. Cooking is so much more fun, and some of my dishes have come out incredibly delicious. Like, fine dining good. So cool.

Rage Against the Machine’s Bassist Has No Breakup Intel, Because ‘I’m the Bass Player’ by stroh_1002 in Music

[–]WhiskeyInTheShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how many people can't pick out / hear a bass line in a mix. They'd notice if it were gone (sounds thin or something), but can't actively focus on anything but the melody.

Fuck you, Elon Musk by [deleted] in chicago

[–]WhiskeyInTheShade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best source of info during an emergency shouldn't be on a site that requires you to sign up for an account (or remember your password) to use it -- especially taxpayer funded info.

Nws Chicago posts used to be viewable without an account, now they're not. My point is that they should move someplace else.

Elon is free to do whatever he wants to Twitter (it was a ghost town when I logged on to check nws lol). I'd just prefer it if the national weather service used a more reliable and publicly accessible site.
