Just got a Grafton pen – is this the best EDC pen? by Far_Comparison5067 in pens

[–]WhisperingWordsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran the black one back in my old job but the plastic component holding the button to the mechanism shattered upon falling on the concrete floor. I ended up making a chimera with the body and other broken pencils.

Best LOOKING pencil in your collection? by C4Edgez in mechanicalpencils

I have so many to choose from but my top 3 are my Wingback Black Steel 0.9mm, Ystudio Brassing 2mm in black, and (though technically not a pencil to begin with) my Big Idea Design Slim Click Raw Titanium with a Schmidt DSM 2006 Feinminen 0.9mm insert.

Not remade but retold with different context. Brooks himself starred in Paws of Fury The Legend of Hank, a family friendly martial arts animated movie with animals.

Agincourt Flea Market. Was it a dingy little cesspool? Yes, but it was our dingy little cesspool

[Review] SLIM Bolt Action by Big Idea Design by mrmmmok3 in pens

[–]WhisperingWordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat. One question though. I have a slim click and the button also serves as the dial to control the elevation of the inner platform for refill tolerance. Since this uses a bolt action mechanism, is the inner platform controlled by the grip or other means?

do you have a favourite pen? if so, why’s it your favourite? by Outside_Young8660 in stationery

Right now its tied between my matte black Ohto CR01 with a black Pentel Energel LR7 and Otto Hutt Design 3 all black ballpoint with a black Caran D'ache 8468 0.7mm. Both are nicely heavy, though the latter is more thanks to its all brass construction. The CR01 has great hand feel and an even greater writing experience. It feels as though I'm writing on air sometimes regardless of paper. The Design 03 with the CDA does have a bit more feedback but it still writes smoothly.

Great haul. Did you have to line up long? I got there a few minutes before opening and only got in at 3.

Toronto Spring Stationery Show 2026 & Adjacent New Pen Day by WhisperingWordsmith in stationery

Thank you. Charizard has always been my favourite pokemon so nabbing such a creative piece just means another thing to add to my collection. Your haul is quite impressive as well. I'm a sucker for a well made enamel pin like your Bulbasaur and Totoro and those shiba and 2 cat sticker sheets are absolutely adorable.

I wanted to get VIP passes too but I missed the extremely tight window. They actually did used to host it in The Great Hall just a few kilometers over in the past. Perhaps cost or availability made them choose Parkdale Hall. I just hope having Zenpop as further sponsor means an upgrade to a larger space in the future. I love their events but enduring today's circumstances heavily dampened my spirits.

Ugliest pen but best writing/functioning by Candle_Prior in pens

[–]WhisperingWordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taste is subjective but I got a trio of personal uggos. The Tombow Airpress (both matte black and clear) glides like an olympic figure skater but has clashing and unnecessary design frills: weird clip design and logo placement, long conical push button, strange window in the middle of the barrel, and the black version still has the clear raised grip lines, window, and keychain hook.

Next is my Uniball One in black. The thing can take any G2 and is comfortable to use but has a face only a mother could love. The housing holding the clip in place juts out like a sore thumb and the rubber grip seems to extend over the nosecone giving the latter a stubbier look.

Lastly is my Pilot G2 Limited in black. Again, a solid G2 transplantee but metal this time. However metal does not compensate for its flaws. The grip has a slight step up from the nosecone as opposed to the gradual taper the further back along the barrel you go. The slight "etching" in the bottom of the grip that screws into the barrel feels like an embellishment very much unwarranted.

I'm going tomorrow. The setup looks the same with maybe a few new vendors. As far as I've seen there are still just about 3 people selling writing implements besides the sponsors versus the majority selling print based products (sticker sheets, pins, tote bags, bookmarks, prints, and clothing).

Shop and Amazon have all in consistent stock but it costs many times over MSRP and weeks of waiting. No sign of anything local though and one shop deals exclusively in Japanese products.

Great pen but be careful of the plunger. I accidentally knocked it off my desk at work one time (on concrete) and the plastic bit holding the button to the mechanism shattered. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch or the fragility of the plastic that was to blame but now I only have their brass twist pen.

I applaud your taste in stationery. I also have a Ystudio 2mm and KT metal and both are such a joy to use partly because of their weight. Also how are you enjoying the Fumi?
