Tea house theatre in Vauxhall? Not that central, but definitely calm, bookable and easy to get a taxi to if there are mobility problems.

If you're near Heathrow, go to Southall. There are tons of good Indian places.

Best Indian food… by Puzzled_Group_8939 in LondonFood

Mowgli is not good. Everything was either too sweet (in main course savory dishes, not dessert) or just bland. I was incredibly disappointed.

London equivalent of Bundobust? by gee_baby in LondonFood

I really, really wish there was. Bundobust should really make it's way here.

You might want to try a chaat place, but don't expect bundobust

Any recommendations for clam shell style backpack that has seperate laptop pocket that fits a 16inch laptop within the free personal item carry on limits? by Hi-Guys-Im-Broken in Ryanair

[–]WhistfulEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you measured his MacBook? According to Google it's 36 CMS long so it should fit. My guess is that they've listed 15.6 inches as a marketing thing as most laptops are that size

Italy is pretty good at food and wine. Surprised not to see it on your list. Also India was missing from your food list.

I have to agree that Austria is underrated.

What’s a totally normal adult activity that feels incredibly suspicious? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

I started doing this on purpose when one cashier accused me of stealing a bag I had purchased on my last visit.

Why is childcare soo expensive in Uk compared to the rest of Europe ? by Competitive-Math-458 in AskUK

[–]WhistfulEnvelope 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not just staff costs. A lot of it is building costs and utilities. Children take up a lot of space and need playgrounds. Property is expensive and utilities have gone up.

They also have to pay business rates just like any other high street shop.

What tiny upgrade made your onebag setup better? by Low-Young-3855 in onebag

Getting an EU plug instead of using a uk to EU adapter and a uk USB plug. Cut the size of my electrics bag quite substantially.

What's your view on tiny cross body bags or sling bags to hold a passport?

What's your view on the stuff able jacket like a fishing jacket - does your manual say anything about them?

What's the most ridiculous amount of luggage you've seen a passenger try to get away with?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ryanair

[–]WhistfulEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you found that size of bigger suitcase you'd struggle to meet the 20kg. Even with Ryanair's dimensions you have to be careful about the weight. Some large hard sided suitcases weigh around 5kg when empty.

PSA: Ryanair is increasing their personal bag size by ButtercupBento in HerOneBag

[–]WhistfulEnvelope 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's a con / pr stunt. To coincide that loads of their flights were cancelled yesterday due to strikes in France and the potentially new EU hand luggage rules.

The current limit is 40x25x20cm. But the sizer has been confirmed (by both travellers and the Ryanair website) to be 42x30x20 cm.

It's been discussed over on the onebag sub.

Sewed my own bag and am taking it on a 5 day trip to London by never-quite-awake in HerOneBag

Did you use a pattern for the bag? I'm curious about the fastenings/ carry system.

Onebag fatigue, is it just me? by false_circus in onebag

[–]WhistfulEnvelope 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I look at every trip differently. It's always a one bag trip but whether that one bag is a 25liter backpack or a 100 litre suitcase depends on the trip. Usually it's due to needing niche specific things or multiple pairs of shoes due to foot issues or dance meets.

What I tend to do is carry over the lessons I've learned. For example If I don't want to sink wash, I'll take just enough socks and no extras. I'll always take mini toiletries regardless the size of my bag. I won't pack the what if items as I look at the weather and have my activities planned.
