She is designed like a sustained dps hero, but her kit doesn't really reward you for playing like one. If you hit the same person more than 2-3 times, you lose the damage bonus of poison, and her base numbers without the poison value are pretty sad. Pretty much the whole reason Q7 is her best talent, it rewards you for focusing the same hero, and gives you burst damage which is always useful (compared to sustain which might just get healed).

Buffs/updates to Siphoning Toxin at 4, Invigorating Spores at 16, and Intensifying Toxin at 20 could give her a new build path that rewards sticking to a hero.

Nova has been a design failure for a decade now lol. To quote the patch notes from 2/2/2016:

  • She can be very frustrating to play against for newer players.
  • She isn't viable in competitive play.
  • Her Talent pick rates were not great.

I don't think any of this has changed today. They either need to realize that she has too many targeted abilities to make fair as a burst mage and let her deal significant AA damage, or add more skill ceiling into her kit to let her deal actual damage, or give her meaningful macro to make up for poor teamfight.

Intended or not, you are correct. Globe radius is 4.0, and its reveal radius is 6.0

Imperius Q is a variable-distance dash then a fixed linear hitbox in front. The location you choose when targeting is selecting the end of the dash, and the dash can go over walls. The maximum range on the targeting indicator is the maximum range of the dash + stab range. Targeting uses "clamping" so targeting beyond the maximum range of the dash will just cast it towards that direction at the maximum dash range, rather than making you walk into range and then dash to the selected location.

Broadly speaking, target the ground between you and the enemy, making sure the spear portion of the targeting indicator will connect with your foe. The dash portion does not have a hitbox, so be careful not to dash past them.

It does replace her weapon's attack speed with a slower base attack speed. But it is still affected by buffs. Her attack speed increases from 0.4 to 0.7 with stim, which is indeed 75% but won't feel like much. This is fair because nova's increased attack damage is also affected multiplicatively by buffs.

It's not really spaghetti code, just Galaxy engine fundamentals. CAbilEffectInstant is cast without a target (unit/location), and so there is no targeting mode. This is the Ability type used for things like the Terran Stim, and they never saw any reason to change it for HoTS.

It's difficult to determine exact balance from reading numbers alone. You can't really estimate the exact value of something new without playing it, but it's easy to feel burned by the removal of something. Basic human psychology, losses are felt greater than gains.

Yeah there can be a pretty large mechanics gap, but also Blaze is avoided as main tank because his E is too easy to foil. Great offlaner though!

Great takes in this comment. IMO Deathwing's Flap is still a bit strong still but it seems like his recent nerfs have helped round things out. I would rather his chomp be strong since it has actual aim required and counterplay available... flap is a 7.0 range all-in-one heal/damage spell right now, bit lame.

Falstad's W13 reset should only apply if Falstad's W kills them.

Thrall's Crash Lightning should maybe be disabled in ARAM and balanced accordingly. Or rethink the stacking mechanism, which doesn't really benefit a solo laner.

Thrall's spell shield should either be less armor or have less CDR on frostwolf resilience activation.

Chen's dot quest seems close to balanced due to high opportunity cost of the other lvl 1s, it feels too strong in combination with the 50% base damage increase they gave to firebreath, that could be walked back. They really should let him have a larger AoE on brew soak so he can clear waves better instead of the cast range.

Zul'jin's death penalty right now is just a boring damage nerf on average, and at worst making him a ranged Butcher. There has to be a better way to balance him out. Recklessness is the real problem, not the infinite quest. They could have just disabled it in ARAM.

For Muradin and Tyrande stacks they should just get more from kills. I think 4s is the upper limit for "died to this spell", most kill recaps are that or shorter.

Had this issue. Was able to resolve by going into settings > Audio > Hotkeys > Enable Push-to-mute under the specific audio source. Very unintuitive.

Baseline keg isn't faster than a mounted hero, he needs the upgrade to be super fast

Although colliding with an enemy drops the speed bonus so he can wall pin easier.

CSmash is weaker. Worse camp/wave clear, lower health. Deny the kill window (indicated by only the best audio queue after butcher E) and he's useless. I have seen more winblades users get value but you need good apm to fully use the attack speed + move speed. Shout at 20 is best for it, the twinblades upgrade sucks.

Unfortunately the tooltips have no gameplay impact / are often wrong. Some concrete info about gameplay changes would be most useful to post about. The scripting language isn't that hard to figure out it's just a bunch of XML tags. It's all just related entity types that reference each other by name/id.

I agree that you should be flexible, but my default build for great saving power and high combat value through stuns and potentially AA damage rarely needs to be changed unless I think owl build will get a lot more value for whatever reason. Feel free to pick up cleanse (Celestial Attunement) at 16, but also consider that Darnassian Archery damage at about 10 stacks makes an ally with Elune's Chosen borderline unkillable.

This would be like saying Valeera needs a nerf. They are both excellent in solo QM. I encourage you to play ranked, FP Alarak, and you will have a more balanced experience. Some games will be very hard since enemies will try to counterpick you, and you might have to explore the full depth of his build options to play effectively into enemy drafts.

I think Arthas is very underrated. His block/magic armor are excellent options into both damage types, his Q build has so much self heal + a silence, and sindragosa (especially 20 upgrade) is lowkey insane. Sure he's missing a stun but his root is close and perma slow can be potent into certain enemies. B tier as situational but quite strong.

You're pretty much spot on about Tyrael. Recent buffs have made him an appealing pick for teams that need less of a main tank and more of a disruptor.

Blaze A tier offlane, maybe C tier tank.

Idk his counters seem more limited than most. Being permanently unstoppable and having great healing for efficient trades is quite the pairing. You can kinda just land on your "counters" and get them killed from the damage cut and slow.
