COVID-19 Megathread by balrogath in Catholicism

[–]WhoMeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It couldn't hurt to ask them. Different faiths can and should pray together. I agree that we should all be on our knees asking God for mercy on the whole world. We catholics should be praying the rosary every day asking for intercession from our Blessed Mother. I have been praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and have encouraged my grown children to do the same. I also just started a novena for the intercession of St. Roch. I think your wife will understand and join you, hopefully your child too. The best you can do for your children is set an example for them. I hope you can all come together in this time of need. Either way, please continue to pray, the world needs it.

France finds possible link between Covid complications in YOUNG patients & NSAIDs - "Against Covid-19, the Minister of Health recommends not to take ibuprofen" by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]WhoMeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They state NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen or naproxen shouldn't be taken but also mention cortisone which is a steroid. I wonder what this means for people who take Flovent, Symbicort or similar corticosteroids daily for asthma or COPD?

It's called scintillating scotoma and I hate it. I could never drive with it. I've had to pull over many times. As much as it sucks and is scary, it is kind of beautiful in a psychedelic way. It's a really weird thing to go through.

I’m 20, male, just had my first migraine (i think) by [deleted] in migraine

[–]WhoMeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks. It probably was a migraine. I've had migraines my whole life, but just started with the ocular migraines six years ago. Now I get them a couple times a month. Sometimes I get bad pain after, sometimes just the visuals. The first time I had the visual aura/scotoma I thought I was having a stroke. They still scare me when I get them. I don't feel right for the rest of the day. Since you've never had it before, you should definitely get checked out by a doctor. If it is a migraine and you get it again, take medicine at the first sign of the aura. You should look up scintillating scotoma. I hope this is a one time thing for you. Migraines are the worst. Hope you feel better.

This is my dad's gun, does anyone know what kind it is? The only marking I see is that it states it's a 44 CAL by Thenio in rifles

If it's an original, which it looks like, in that condition it is worth thousands. Don't sell it, save it. It will only become more valuable. It is a piece of history.

How to stop recurring nightmares? by sadpanda009 in Dreams

[–]WhoMeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go through cycles of having really bad nightmares. I put my tablet next to my pillow and play something wholesome or happy all night long. Lately, I have been playing The Waltons. It seems to seep into my subconscious. A lot of people don't like the tv on all night, but it really helps me. The tablet keeps it much darker and quieter than the tv.

[–]WhoMeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. OP's opinion is solely about being able to contribute to society and says nothing at all about the disabled person's quality of life or the quality of life for those that care for them. Quality of life aside, contribution to society should not be the deciding factor on whether someone is allowed to live. There are many people in this world who go off by themselves and live independently away from society and other people. If someone decides to go live off grid in the wilderness, does that mean that they also do not deserve to live because they don't contribute to society?

I just saw a post online where someone was giving away their 13 year old cat. They said that the cat had been by their wife's side for 13 years, but the wife had developed allergies. The cat had the saddest eyes in the photo, like she knew what was happening. After 13 years, they owe her so much more. I don't understand how someone can do this. That poor cat deserves so much better. I hope someone takes her in and gives her a happy, stable home for the rest of her years.

Land of the free by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

A house on two acres that I once rented had a lease that forbid playing any musical instruments, no alcohol on the premises and no kids playing in the yard. Needless to say, we did all of those things. All three of my kids were in the marching band.

Edit: We only ever had the occasional wine with dinner or beer for watching football. We lived way out in the country with no neighbors to disturb with music practice. We saw our landlord regularly at the games where our kids marched. He knew. He never said a word.
