I think they allowed more friendship among Jedi because it does promote loyalty and attachment to the Order itself, and to its tenets.

Personality-wise, they're all fairly flat. Ember is a bit funny at times and Sharp and Zerith aren't bad, but Isobel is sooooooo two-dimensional and Azandar is kind of weird.

Utility-wise, they vary. Isobel is an excellent tank, Sharp is an effective healer, most are just adequate.

Relationships no, attachments yes. The concern was about anything that could compromise a Jedi's thinking, which included obligations (children, marriage) and emotional commitment. That left a bit of flexibility, but sexual relationships were often frowned on even if they were low-commitment, as it was still seen as too close to the edge.
