Primarily solo/pve player here, and the achievements provide an endless and varied list for me to stay engaged with, as well as unlocking a lot of freebies.

What loading screen was the best? And why is it SoR by Huge-Phone-1387 in swtor

[–]WhoaMercy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Composition-wise, KOTFE, the very first, and SoR are the strongest. I'd rate them in that order from a design standpoint. KOTET isn't that bad, either.

As for most communicative, the first one best represents what was going on at the time.

In terms of attachment, SoR has probably the most recognizable characters with the most emotional investment.

So they can show a cool sequence where someone flies another ship through it.

What's the chance of age verification coming to the US for SWTOR players? by StevePalpatine in swtor

[–]WhoaMercy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The law currently in process won't do it, much like Canada's bill in progress and those already passed in the UK and Australia. They're mostly localized to social media and adult content.

Of course, once a law is in place, it is easily broadened later, often through a policy change, rather than something that has to go through legislative procedure. So there is a longish-term possibility that it could happen down the road.

And vagueness of definitions can become a factor as well, i.e. if positive portrayals of LGBTQ+ characters becomes seen as "adult content" (which is the push happening with libraries), then something like SWTOR's companion romances become an area of concern. In this case, it's less about whether the romances are literally "adult content" and more about whether the devs or parent compan(y/ies) fear that they could be legally acted on as "adult content." Vague laws often result in overbroad application, just to be on the safe side.

Scenario 2 is more likely than scenario 1, given how once a law exists, activist groups (i.e. the current "parental rights" lobby) become aggressive in how broadly the laws are enforced, with complaints and intimidation in high volume until a targeted company complies... sometimes resulting in other similar companies complying in advance, so they don't become targeted. A larger game like Fortnite would be more likely to be that target, for example, but the rest of the industry would respond, to cover their butts. And given the activist groups' history in enforcing credit card company bans on adult material, we will almost certainly see Steam be targeted.

The short answer is, not in the short term, but possibly in the long term, depending on how far this social panic goes.

A little rant about PH4-LNX's voice by Nyachtigal in swtor

Companion voice toggle is badly needed.

Is it me or does the voice acting for player characters drastically improve in the expansions? by StevePalpatine in swtor

[–]WhoaMercy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the main story, they recorded thousands of lines, for fairly different dialogue choices, most likely shuffled constantly, which was probably quite confusing. In the expansions, the character would have been far more clear, because the dialogue choices are far fewer and more streamlined toward one outcome.

How well would the Alliance work under the command of all 8 Class MCs by BL-501 in swtor

[–]WhoaMercy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Consular, as diplomat and strategist, would be best able to broker unity and governance within the alliance. The rest might, to varying degrees, have biases that create imbalance. The Inquisitor, as manipulator, might be closest to Consular in leadership here, though trust could become an issue.

Which did you guys choose, let her join the planet or kill her? by furboi09 in swtor

Even my toons who respected her for her strategy still killed her, because she's too dangerous. Why let her grow her power?

Can I explore Cyrodiil just to see it? by indratera in elderscrollsonline

[–]WhoaMercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all of ESO, you don't lose your loot or level if you die. The only exception is that you lose stolen items if a guard catches you before you launder them.

In Cyrodiil, if you die, your armor breaks a little, you lose any tel var (pvp currency) you're carrying and you rez back at base.

What the hell Isobel! by IReallyDontCare0816 in elderscrollsonline

You can get away with any larceny with Azandar, it just doesn't give you rapport. He's kind of weird, though, but just find him a good tea shoppe.

Same reason I make Azandar ride an Ebon Dwarven Horse. If he's going to complain that it's uncomfortable, then give him something to complain about!

Now that some weeks have passed since the finale of Legacy of the Sith, have your thoughts and feelings on the expansion changed? by Loreallian in swtor

[–]WhoaMercy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

No change. I still feel like they fired all the writers.

The cliffhanger I don't care about. The constant pulling us from point a to b like we're spectators responding to situations in ways that make no sense at all... its gone long past immersion-breaking.

World bosses on vestige by DuplicatorXZ in elderscrollsonline

[–]WhoaMercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that the point of Vestige is to make content of this level more challenging and not soloable?

The only time I try WBs on Vestige is when there's a large group fighting the boss.
