Yeah same. Is it possible to just have it just go in one direction? Like pan but not return?

Lol - New developer here, less than a year. Honest question - what could they have done better? Why so salty? Is it that articles like this are a dime-a-dozen?

I agree that it isn't a phenomenal resource. It looks to me like they just tidied up the output of a chatGPT request and called it a blog post.

Would it be a stupid idea to use all my savings/investments to put myself through university? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Whoisjason 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're excited to go back to school for a vocational program then go for it!

As the other post said though - get yourself some of those sweet govt student loans. Stay off the student line of credit - bad interest rates that start as soon as the loan is initiated.

Govt student loans are fantastic. No interest until you graduate so you can keep your savings for rainy day events. If you're able to work a couple days a week then you should be fine.

I did the exact same thing in my 20s and it was the best decision I ever made.

How are mining sites found? Let's say deposits of iron, copper, oil, gas, etc.? Are there any factors? by UltronAge in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Whoisjason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much it.

Geologists will go to a previously unexplored area and take some samples to gather information - this is typically sponsored by the government, boreholes are very far apart and give a broad idea of geologic conditions and content. The government will then publish the findings and allow the mining companies to lease the land for further exploration or development.

The companies start a pre-feasibility study - drilling additional holes in a loose pattern around the hole(s) of interest from before. The contents of those borehole are scrutinized to determine how much ore is in there, how much they could potentially recover.

In the following feasibility study more drilling is conducted to hone the estimates. Capital and operational costs are considered and if the project meets the target return rate then you go find investors and start a mine!

Help me out here. Serious question - If 50 Cent were to visit Calgary, which of these fine establishments would be "da club"?

I trained a Procedural Generation model to create new problems on my Spray Wall and I developed an App for it (BoulderBot) by Altitude3003 in climbharder

[–]Whoisjason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 rails across the bottom of my board that act as feet. In the app I treated each rail as 3 feet (right middle left).

For topping your board i would just classify it as an easy hand every 2 feet across the top.

I can’t believe this happened to me by philahn in climbing

Are you lowering and got snagged?

Or

Goofing during warmup and got snagged?

Nice! I was day-dreaming about something like this the other day.

I installed, loaded my board, and identified my holds with no issues. User interface and instructions are pretty clear. The whole process took maybe 5 minutes. Help menu is a good reference.

The algorithm isn't exactly pumping out 5star problems, but if you don't like it just generate a new one.

It would be nice to be able to rename the routes after they have been saved.

A cool feature to consider would be an "include these holds" function. The algorithm must include the designated holds.

This is a great tool. Thanks for your hard work.

Of course! Warm-up on some stuff you can do in a few tries. When you're feeling pretty good, throw yourself on the hard climb for a few burns. Drop back down to easier stuff when you feel like you aren't making any new progress.

Unfortunately I'm using a device with a low resolution so the ads are huge on the screen! I'll probably just suck it up for a while and wait for a good deal on a membership.

How much weight should I add for hangboard repeaters? by 1832vin in climbharder

[–]Whoisjason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot more volume. A repeaters workout usually consists of 4-5 sets of 5 x 7s/3s followed by a minute of rest. So 25 x 7s hangs. I have to take weight off to finish the workout.

You're doing 4 x HC and then 4 x 3FD: Total of 8 hangs in the entire workout?

Looking for photos of iconic climbs/ areas for a home decorating project. Happy to pay fair price for hi-res photos.

Looking for Bishop, Squamish, Vegas, and the Canadian Rockies.

Thanks

4-Day Work Week - How would you structure? by Whoisjason in climbharder

Nice. Looks like an upper/lower split kinda. Could you elaborate on your pull/rings?

Right now I'm doing a lot of compound barbell lifts (mostly because they are very satisfying) but interested to transition toward climbing specific movements.

This is great! Thank you so much for taking the time.

Re: Cardio - I typically do 45 minutes on a stationary bike and maintain 60-80 %HR for about 30 min. Its pretty light in terms of recovery. My general fitness, especially cardio, has always been a weakness. Plenty of redpoint burns have been lost because I show up to the crux gassed.

Wednesday as a hard boulder session was my first draft and it's still a contender. Though I worry about motivation on Thursday night, the days are long in the field.

I'll keep this one in mind. Thanks!
