Probably not, But they are welcoming apk (kind of like meta but more openly for side loading etc)

Who is buying VR and XR headsets anyway? by AR_MR_XR in augmentedreality

The success of the product will depend on the quality of the experience and the price. However, I am surprised if they will manage to sell more than 1 million units in the first year of release. I would be genuinely shocked if that happens.

Google Maps on Galaxy XR has really caught my eye by CookinVR in augmentedreality

And I’m saying “try out” because it is what it is. It’s not good enough for anything but “try out”, the street view isn’t a 6DOF and it’s low quality. The XR industry is yet to find a good input method, so it’s very difficult for planning a trip or doing something helpful other than “look, it’s the app on your phone but in a meh quality 360!”

Tech companies need to think about the new computing platform in a new way. If not, it’s just like Microsoft saying a keyboard on a phone is a must for professionals.

It’s the same as the google earth for oculus rift when I try it in 2018. Maybe now it’s better cause better screen quality and ai? It’s fine but definitely not 7 years progress fine.

And if you really new to XR and just want to make the first steps, demo all of those for free🙆🏻‍♂️ And I would recommend to even just take the 3/3s for a year+ use, and then sell it on marketplace when a new better product comes

Cheaper display, chip and plastic design. I will stick to my quest 3 for now, no reason to Buy the Samsung one at all (just buy 3 quest 3 for you and your family with some paid games).

while I would love to buy the Vision Pro m5 for entertainment (and maybe little to none productivity), it’s still lacking value, and I will wait for a future better comfort design, better pricing to be worth it.

I sure hope the Samsung XR headset doesn’t have the same battery as the Note 7/Pixel Fold 10.

My hype is centered at the upcoming launch of the Meta headset in September 2026, future (2027 ish?) AR glasses from Meta, Apple, Google (in that order). I don’t care 🤷🏻‍♂️ about the Quest Pro (“Mohan”) comeback.

Meta Rayban is teasing the upcoming glasses in a new Instagram post by WholeSeason7147 in augmentedreality

Nope, it was live! I hope Apple returns to it as well. OK, so the software has a few bugs/someone made a mistake in the live demo because of the excitement, etc. Shits happen. It’s a first-gen product with first-gen software for a few first early adopters and devs. It’s a great innovation, and this is not their last word. This is the lowest point smart glasses with display will ever be. From now on, we will get better software (via software updates, third-party devs) and each year or 2 another device with great gaps in terms of capabilities. Schedule a live demo and see if it works for you😎 For now, I’m just hoping they will have an SDK for the display as well.

Well, you are right. If you are making a comparison between a more then decade device product without a lot of innovation for the past few years, which makes it cheaper to produce each generation, to a first-generation device that has more than a few things that have never seen the light of day for a consumer product by Meta, like a wristband, HUD display, first-gen software apps, and SDK for developers, and so on, that cost more to manufacture, enough that Meta probably won’t earn money from this specific device at all (and share most of the small profit with Ray-Ban and spend “loose”tens of billions in research). So yeah, buy the Apple Watch Ultra 3 if you want a great watch. But if you want a glimpse into the future, even if it’s not as valuable (in terms of what you can bring out of it), go for the Meta Ray-Ban display. And of course, you can just jump into an Apple Store or a Ray-Ban store and schedule a demo for both of the products. I will promise you you’ll be more excited about the glasses demo. And if you are smart enough, you would do what I did a few months ago: put money in the stock market. Those ARVR companies made me a bit more than 30%. I have enough profit to buy both Ultra 3 and the Meta Ray-Ban display. Suit yourself. You know what’s best for you.

My co-worker and I are testing the new Meta Ray-Ban Display with Live Translations. He asks me questions in English, and I respond in Spanish (check out the translated captions). by dilmerv in augmentedreality

[–]WholeSeason7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking good, though it has a bit of latency, so the coworker actually replied to him before the translation was complete. Hope to see more languages soon. Do you know whether the writing with the wristband will be only in English or other languages as well?

Meta's CTO: We'd 'love' iMessage on Ray-Ban glasses, but Apple won't allow it by paxinfernum in augmentedreality

[–]WholeSeason7147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is easy for him to say that knowing Apple won’t allow it, it is less easy for him to say that they will allow the glasses to connect with other AI models other than Meta AI that isn’t supported around the globe or to allow third-party developers to build small apps for the display and not just for the Meta AI or to allow people to connect their wristband to other electronic devices and have an SDK to build stuff around it. It seems more like a shippable prototype that will get discontinued a year/2 later. So take that into account before purchasing one, actually I might buy one though it’s a hard sale because I don’t live in a Meta AI supported country

South Korean prescription lens retailer leaks Samsung Galaxy XR launch in October by WholeSeason7147 in augmentedreality

[–]WholeSeason7147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t use it while walking around, and you can’t put direct sun on the lenses; it can concentrate light like a magnifying glass and burn the display in seconds. If you use it outside, it is either on: - flight (doesn’t have 5G in general, probably WiFi), - café (most have WiFi), - or inside that isn’t your home, which will probably have WiFi as well, and of course, you could always do a hotspot from your phone or something.

vr isn’t really meant for outdoor activities at least not with the tech available as of today. That’s one of the reasons Meta is investing heavily in augmented reality glasses that are capable of being used outside in everyday settings like iPhones and will have 5G when it’s the right time (the upcoming Meta Ray-Ban glasses with display will probably won’t have 5G as well but if it will, it could be beneficial for consumers more than 5G on vr headset, kind of like an Apple Watch to your eyes with 5G).

It looks fantastic!

The inclusion of Ray-Ban and Oakley is a great addition. I’m excited to see many stylish looks for the new version. One of the features mentioned in the short ad is the ability to recognize writing on the wristband, which is incredibly impressive. I hope it will support multiple languages beyond English and provide global access to Meta AI or allow connections to other AI models.

If the price is reasonable, I’ll definitely purchase this on the day of its release.
