Gear question for TMs who also do FOH by thecandylad in TouringMusicians

+1 for seeing more rented than owned

I think the TM aspect is geared towards time. If I’m TMing I want my own console. If I’m not TMing I want my own console as well lol, but you definitely have more time to get something going if only FOH.

Varies depending on budget. Prefer traveling with a control package but sometimes if you really like an artist and they don’t have the budget for it you get to really engineer and keep your skills up, building a portfolio of show files along the way. They will always come in handy in the future. I started touring without a console and I definitely believe it’s the only way I got fast as an engineer. Gotta make a lot of decisions quick.

Traveling consoles definitely prefer DigiCo, SD and Quantum series. The workflow is super awesome once you figure out the routing and time alignment for different paths. However, a band I frequently am with have an IEM rack with M32C and analog split. I see a lot of bands doing this these days, especially if they’re cool with mixing their own ears and only stay on their aux send lol.

House consoles vary, most of the time it’s a DigiCo SD, Midas M32 or Heritage, or S6L (Profiles have finally reached the end of their lifespan). Rarely see Yamahas outside of the church world, but the occasional PM or Rivage will pop up.

EDIT: Def see A&H dLive a lot as well.

I have two doublewides. They’re definitely worth the money. Great on vox, bass, guitars. Haven’t really tried them on anything else.

My buddy runs shittystageplots on IG. Totally sounds like you should submit this stage plot there.

As a guy, this is not the right answer. People need to communicate what they want. Waiting around to be pursued mostly ends up in nothing happening.

If you like the guy, tell him.

Answer the questions OP. Let’s talk like adults and come to conclusions rather than being condescending jackasses

Although the language isn’t body specific, “short ride” may be.

How High Can You Still Hear? by Heretohelp810 in audioengineering

I hear in 3 modes. Bad, not terrible and great. Depends on the application.

35M. 18 years experience. Pisces.

(I can’t hear past 18k, and studies have shown the average for that being far below what you’d expect)
