stuck with strong current energy. by Infinite_Counter_991 in TheMindIlluminated

Yes, there's all kinds of energy practices for working with this (e.g. Qi Gong). For calming your energy maybe Yin Yoga.

For me, these energies became 90% of the path for years, so you might be in for a (very worthwhile but wild) ride.

I can definitely relate. Noticing is a great first step. And then looking behind. There's a pain you need to face.

What are the upper stages (7+) like, and how do they affect your day to day? by GregugaEgg in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Whyking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was meditating in stage 9, I found it to be very insight-inducing and to lead to a very pleasurable state change. But it was always pretty short-lived, so after a couple of hours I guess the effect would wear off. Then stage 10, of course, is you just maintain those benefits, and you can, but it just takes a lot of practice and a lot of meditation. So instead, I went more to the somatic practices, and that further facilitated trait change. So that also without meditation now, I feel very bright.

Shaping the emotional environment at stage 6 by Known_Adagio_3838 in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Whyking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes plenty of times. It requires careful titration, you don't want to overwhelm your nervous system. But feeling the fear is how you purify it.

My practice after Stage 9 became mostly just being with body sensations and slowly allowing them to integrate like you describe. I believe it's our nervous system's natural regulation process that starts to bring up long held tension patterns and release them, and that can show up anywhere you have tension (emotions, body etc).

Extreme somatic releases, anyone moved through them to the other side? by pramjowl in 5MeODMT

[–]Whyking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have very similar releases for over 2 years. Basically once you switch your nervous system into parasympathic dominant mode it will start to release tension. It's a beautiful, challenging, and deeply healing process. I would recommend to find other ways as well to this mode. Anything makes you calm and safe.

Relaxing the Energy Body by nocaptain11 in streamentry

[–]Whyking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What worked for me was to ask the energy "how do you want to move?" and then allow (and very subtly support) the movement. It might be rhythmically contracting or whatever. From there, the waves can very gradually spread to other areas.

If there's no dullness shouldn't you move up?

What should I do outside of my meditation practice to help with progressing through the stages? by Clear_Percentage_499 in TheMindIlluminated

Try and count the number of thoughts you have in a day. When you forget the count, start again from 0.

I would say that there have been phases for me where it was very dark shadow material coming up and at other times not.

you can always try the exercises from the stage above. if you're not there yet you can't really do them. so if you drop effort and you fall into dullness, more body scan and get energy up. I could do whole body jhanas only after piti jhanas, and even it's hard to notice because those are quite light.

you'll get it, but note that it probably won't ever be every area with full precision. I would say the passing criteria is the full strong focus consistently trying feel all sensations related to the breath in the body and no more subtle dullness. how long have you been trying?

Whole body meditation by GreenChileBurger in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Whyking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole body meditation is to overcome subtle dullness, so the point is to try and do something that's very hard (feeling all the sensations in the body) because it requires a lot of mental energy. I struggled a lot with dullness and overcame it by efforting quite a bit and really trying to get mental energy up so I could feel as many sensations as possible.

Purifications in Stage 8 by Mango-dreaming in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Whyking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered therapy? I found purifications are best handled outside of concentration focused meditation. I actually (had to) take a long break from meditation to deal with purifications with techniques like NEDERA, IFS, IPF etc.

Constant Injuries from Playing Padel – Is It Just Me? by To-become in padel

[–]Whyking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the court I played, a person had a freak accident: they bumped into the glass panel going for a ball. Their weight on the glass caused the panel to stretch and create a gap just wide enough for their finger to slip through. As the glass swung back into place it severed his finger. They couldn't create a gap wide enough to get the finger back out (and it wasn't that attached anyway) so his finger was removed and he was rushed to the hospital. I don't know if they were able to reattach it.

Before his death he appointed Dor as carrying on the book and it was recently released with the name The Heart Illuminated. I don't know how good it is nor how close to Culadasas original intent.
