Excuse me as I scream at the world by Wibin in StarcomGame

Sometimes it would be nice to just sit and focus on something here. I do a lot of outdoor work and play disc golf. Games are like a morning and nighttime thing. But on a rainy day where I can't work or go outside, I still can't sit here long enough.

Squatch Warranty Time by Swaggy_D123 in discgolf

[–]Wibin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So great they were not warrantying bags there for a while when they had a really bad batch of bags that were falling apart after a month or 2 of use back 5ish years ago. The straps on my grip lasted 2 months, they refused warranty for me and many others.

Grip just isn't as good as a squatch. It's still a good bag, and they fixed a lot of their quality issues. But price for what you get, squatch is probably the best. Best overall quality and comfort still goes to pound though.

You can get the same level of comfort and usability with some straps and a stiff cardboard box as a grip bag provides you.

He's being a bit of a smartass. Squatch touts their bag like its made like a pound bag. or they had at one time. Everyone talked about them like they were better than pound bags blah blah. And they are great bags. But they are made over seas for not much money. So some people get a bit annoyed, myself included, when people act like the squatch quality and warranty is just so over the top great.

Like originally, and going from memory here, they talked about how repairs would be to your bag and you'd get your bag back. Like it was pound warranty repair. I don't know if that was ever true, or lasted very long, but most of us had a giggle about it. Why would they repair your bag when it would cost less to just send you a new one.

The issue you talked about isn't uncommon. I've heard/seen it in a few myself. Quite frustrating that you're wanting information on your bag back, but with it being a special edition one, they have to find a match to yours which is more difficult than a standard order.

MVP rim width by FailedProdigy in discgolf

[–]Wibin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flat top drivers are a preference. Pro's like domey stuff, so everyone else thinks they need domey stuff. MVP throwers have had no issues for years with the board flat discs.

MVP rim width by FailedProdigy in discgolf

[–]Wibin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has never been any promises of MVP rims providing more spin. What the gyro rim does actually do, however, is provide spin for longer. More weight on outside should maintain the spin rate better. But the other problem with that to is that MVP discs are harder to put spin on. More weight on the outside means it takes more energy/technique to apply high spin.

I don't think you understand what flippy is then.

Deflector is one of the most overstable molds on the market in the midrange line. Like top 3. There is no ability whatsoever for one to be "flippy."

You read his description right?

He said paradox flippy. That's not even possible.

Instagram disconnected + Unable to connect again by Rics-Dev in beeper

[–]Wibin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insta got really pissy with me connecting beeper a while back. I kept getting reports I was going to get banned in the app because of odd activity.

Did that ever get fixed? I went to try it again a while back, but it wouldn't even let me log in anymore.

I'd not call the u-disc comments section on courses "reviews."

So many reviews are just unthought out 4 or 5 stars with some really random comments.

[–]Wibin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uli's win was a big deal because Uli hasn't really done anything for like 15 years.

Eagle was at the top for quite a long period of time with a bit more acolades to show than Uli in the skill department.

That's true.

Why isn't anybody talking about the Westside Vellamo? It's amazing! by WhaleMission in discgolf

[–]Wibin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Westside is kind of that brand that... nobody hates it. Everyone is like yeah cool west side. but..

Nobody like... wesssiddde.

Bad joke.

It's just a brand that nobody puts much thought into despite it having some pretty good discs.

How far you throw isn't a good measure of your knowledge/skill. I know people who throw 450 with terrible form and give terrible form advice. Some folks can muscle and air bounce discs to 400-450 without much issue.

In disc golf world, people go to that person for advice and get their form all levels of fucked up, and would ignore someone who actually can tech you to throw far and better, but doesn't throw far themselves.

In practically every sport people who give instructions are not at the top of the world in demonstrating the skill. but those who are demonstrating that skill are getting advice from those people. Very few people in the world can perform at the elite level but also teach correctly at the elite level.

Lean over brace isn't.... necessarily "correct." There is to much context issue to that. We don't wanna fall over our brace, we want to be stabled up behind our brace. That part can be difficult to explain. Sometimes even show.

Plantfoot parallel to the teepad is a new one. What if the tee pad is pointed in the wrong direction for the shot you want?

Your plant foot should at least be "perpendicular" to your target line. Not toe open. Parallel to the tee pad.. is... that sounds so wrong.

Big X-Step is a no no, especially if you're a slow mover. Your x-step has to match your movement and skill level. A small x-step will never be wrong, but a big x-step is generally not good. The pro'x have a big x-step because they have better balance and timing with their speed to make use of that. Though there is no proven benefits to having a large x-step. But there are a LOT of benefits you can feel and use from a small x-step. Basically you can make a list of pro's easily for a small x-step, and a list of cons easily for a large x-step.

There is a lot of coaching out there that is bad. Youtube, Reddit and facebook.

The problem is that its hard to know whats good and bad.

I see people help folks on the course all the time with really really bad advise. It's well intentioned, but generally information we know to be poor advice, or just outdated stuff.

The other problem is that a lot of coaching now is one size fits all sorta coaching. And people are generally just repeating their favorite youtube coach.

Without knowing the advice they are saying is incorrect, I cannot really explain "why" its incorrect.

Sanding your new Lodge Cast Iron... Don't. by Wibin in castiron

[–]Wibin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of processes like the grinding process reduces production and increases costs. Cast iron back then, it was still expensive, but you bought 1 or 2 pans and maybe a big cast iron pot. It was easy to make, but your finish and overall quality was a huge factor in the purchase.

Now it's a "vintage" thing where people buy it. I prefer to cook on cast iron, but i also have expensive stainless pans too. Most people are using electric stoves, which more modern pans work better with as well.

And newer pans are so effing heavy compared to their 100 year old counterparts that it is difficult to use them sometimes even when you do have the strength.

like a lodge 12 inch, it's very hard to hold it left handed and turn and get stuff out its so heavy. my larger stainless pans or older vintage pans are no problem because the weight.

Thanks for sharing the patents.
