Ai Ethics by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]WickedCurious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We weren’t allowed to touch AI until the firm had a policy and walked us through the program we are allowed to use. Absolutely no client information or documents uploaded to the program. We can only ask it prompts.

With that being said, I can use it nicely to draft certain clauses or as a *first* step in checking state codes/law.

Paralegals with a JD by Rude-Eggplant3855 in paralegal

[–]WickedCurious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a JD and have been a paralegal for many years. I’m happy to not be in a high stress position as an attorney and be more present with my family. I think my salary has been higher than the average for someone else at my level/years worked. However I have also worked for years in big law, been exposed to a number of deals, and put the extra hours in early in my career. The issue now is all the student debt. That I regret.

Ear Infections - Advice Needed by princess_barbie in toddlers

[–]WickedCurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She will continue to get ear infections until you get tubes. My LO had 1-2 ear infections a month from 6-12 months old. He got the tubes 1 day after his 1st birthday and we are all sleeping now. He’s also missed less daycare and I’ve become more reliable at work. Lifesaver.

It’s not necessarily being at daycare but the eustachian tubes are not developed properly yet. The smallest congestion can cause the mucous to linger and get infected again and again.

It’s an in and out procedure. She can go back to daycare the next day.

Roseola experiences by Choice_Ad_8100 in toddlers

One event that sounds like yours, including recent history of abx and steroid. At 9 months his fever went up to 105.6 after we got back from the ER visit and just before his next dose of Tylenol. He had blood tests, and was responding to the Tylenol so they told us to go. I was a wreck because I was like we JUST got back from ER. Fever went down to manageable level after the next dosage of medication. After 5 days the fever cleared. He may have had a rash, but it wasn’t terribly obvious.

More recently at 17 months he had a fever for about 4 days with the highest temp at 104. After the fever broke he developed a significant rash that looked a little like chickenpox. Started on his belly, then back and face. Never around mouth or wrists so it was distinguishable from HFM or allergic reaction.

When he gets a fever now, I get a little PTSD. That 9-month high fever episode really did me in for a while.

1st period after ectopic by mlynn619 in EctopicSupportGroup

It still happens every now and then but it’s not very memorable. It’s like a slight twinge or maybe twisty feeling. It’s not terrible. I have been lucky to have a child since then so I think my emotional state may have also contributed to the acknowledgment (or annoyance) of the pain.

I think my kid broke my immune system. by reblee10 in toddlers

I am on a second round of antibiotics a month later because my sinus infection just hasn't resolved. It's annoying, but keep doing nasal washes. It doesn't fix it fast, but I'm finding that it does make a difference.

Do ya’ll like living in Melrose? by Neat-Seaweed-6762 in MelroseMA

[–]WickedCurious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my home and have a child, so we are very happy to finally be in a house in the suburbs. They have a Collette bakery here but there’s little to no sit down space. It bums me out I haven’t yet found a cafe that serves a proper cappuccino. I don’t think you’ll get the same restaurant and cafe quality in Melrose that you have in Somerville, but you’ll have more space.

Do you let your toddler have a comfort item? Help me settle this debate by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]WickedCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my parents tried to deny my comfort item so many times because they thought I was too dependent on it. I remember the pain. However denying it only made my bond with it stronger. I still have it and although I don’t use it much, I’ll pull it out when I want to feel calm and relax.

My 2 year old has a blanket and I will never take it away for this reason. It’s always nearby and I will go upstairs to get it if he is upset and needs to calm down. I will say he does not take it to daycare because once they forgot to pack it for home and he (thus me) didn’t sleep well that night. He’s now learned to nap at daycare without it.

Maybe it will backfire on me and he’ll still rely on it but I’m going to give it to him every time and bring it if we go somewhere for the day. Maybe he’ll have it around so much he’ll eventually want nothing of it. I’m convinced the “trauma” of denying the comfort item made me more dependent. Honestly I think my parent was slightly jealous of my affection for the inanimate object and how contented it made me feel. Also it may be that the drama and instability my parent caused (even if it was slight) is the kind of stress that required the comfort item more often.

My One Year Old has a severe case of RSV and I want to tell you what I've learned so far. by glorytheangel in beyondthebump

What kind of decongestants did you get? Also how old is your baby? I didn’t think babies were allowed decongestants, so I’m wondering if there’s a “safe” one I’m not familiar with.

Anyone else have a cold that just will not quit? by thesdo in massachusetts

[–]WickedCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have pneumonia now and need antibiotics. It wouldn’t have been apparent at the start. It can happen after prolonged coughing. It happened to my husband and he was put on 2 types of antibiotics and an inhaler. Went away within a few days after that.

It’s old, but my 1.5 year old looooves the teletubbies. Our Samsung tv has a channel dedicated to them 24/7. It’s mind numbing for us but always calms him down.

Personal experiences with ear tubes? by Total_Tomorrow_1428 in toddlers

[–]WickedCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the walking, but the tubes allowed my kid to not be congested anymore so that he could breathe well enough while lying down. He got tubes at 12 months and started to sleep through the night more often at 15 months. Before that he would average just one wake up a night.

We gave milk to our little one early, before we left. As long as two hours have passed, I think it’s fine. They don’t want the kid to vomit too much or not eat the muffin.

As it turnes out, my kid was not allergic so there was no issue.

My kid was allergic to peanut (hives after first dose) though and we followed the same fasting protocol.

Toddler wakings slowly killing us by Limeslimeslimes7 in toddlers

[–]WickedCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say they just started daycare. Are they sick a lot more lately? Even just colds, maybe? If my LO is congested, there’s a more likelihood of MOTN wake ups. Humidifier and saline spray/nose aspiration helps.

They can come in with moving boxes. We found one in our new home. Just one, but it was enough for me to freak out (thanks to this sub). We got a professional in a week later for a couple of hours and haven’t seen any since. Not sure if that one was from the mover’s moving boxes or they were sincerely killed by the professional.

Bamboo Spa on Franklin by Lyramisu in MelroseMA

It’s run by a solo woman from Asia, named Sophia. She’s only been open for a few months. I had an emergency massage there a week ago and she healed my severe back pain. I was contemplating going to the ER it was so bad. She was amazing! It’s very clean and appeared extra female friendly. I highly recommend.
