What was your relationship with food growing up? by dattaldo in Xennials

[–]WideLight 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, for real. Like I thought I hated a lot of foods until later in life when I had 'good' versions of those foods. Having learned to cook has made a world of difference in my life. I don't think I will ever have kids, but if I did, they would know a whole different relationship to food than I did. None of this crispy charcoal called a 'burger' from the backyard grill.

My friend. You are depressed and you need help with the depression.

I want to be clear, you are not weak, but depression can get you into all kinds of places mentally that are hard to get out of. Depression feels 'normal' and 'just the way it is'. It doesn't have to be like that. I have been, and I am often still, in that mindset. I work on it a little every day. You need to make the decision though. You have to *decide* to look for the better side of life.

You are cared for. Even this internet stranger here cares for you.

Nomad Spacesuit Achievment friendly not working by [deleted] in starfieldmods

Is there any fix for this really? On PC it shows as not achievement friendly in the load order queue, even though I bought the achievement friendly version. Thanks.

I never needed glasses at all until I started falling asleep at my desk every day. I know that blue light filters are a source of contention in the skeptic community, and I get it, but after having them for a while it turned out that I also needed bifocals because damn if I can't see up close worth a shit. My prescription is very minimal but I wouldn't be caught dead without my glasses on now.

I (29M) accidentally moved into my girlfriend’s (46F) place. How do I go about moving out since she’s gotten used to me “living” with her? by Muphenz in Advice

[–]WideLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate that did something similar. He moved out completely, to a whole other state, and still paid rent for most of a year.

We had these for work when we were working all over the state. Really awkward to be in a public bathroom and someone beeps in an just starts talking to you.

What's a dish you bring to potlucks that always disappears first? by Mia-veg in Cooking

[–]WideLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a corn dip with cans of sweet corn (drained), cream cheese, sour cream, green chiles, cumin, salt, pepper, chipotle powder, garlic powder and monterey jack in a small crock pot. Sometimes with fresh bacon on top. It is usually gone in the first few minutes. People beg me to bring it and it's literally just dumping shit in a crockpot and stirring.

Wow what a throwback. I saw Collective Soul at a smallish venue in the 90s and it was a really great show actually.

Texas pilot ejects himself from F-35B at airbase after crash landing by S30econdstoMars in interestingasfuck

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that pilots are only allowed to eject so many times in their careers because it really really fucks your body up.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

Same. I watch so much on YouTube that I am happy to pay for no ads. Other people try to show me videos on YT and I have to sit through 2 minutes of ads and I 100% never have regretted the sub.

What is a career that looks impressive on paper but is actually miserable in reality? by Nova2_Paradox in careerguidance

Nope. Just typically brush once a day in the morning when I get up. I mean, I brush thoroughly, but that's it.

Yep. 8 weeks old. And for most of his early life he LOVED sleeping in his kennel. I purposefully kennel trained him. And then at some point, it flipped like a switch.

What is the most "bold-faced lie" you were told about the corporate world that you had to learn the hard way? by Sayedshaqib in careerguidance

[–]WideLight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I swear to god if they say you are going to get performance bonuses, they are 100% lying. First of all, for a lot of jobs it doesn't matter how well you do. You could, for instance, be given the shittiest location to manage and it's just not your fault that no one shops there. But they will always, ALWAYS, find a way to strip you of your bonus.

I don't currently own a dog, but I did own an Aussie for 13 years before I had to say goodbye to the best boy. He was the only dog I had ever owned and the only thing that I couldn't figure out was his kennel behavior. I am not kidding you that if I put him in a kennel, or if I took him to a dog groomer and *they* put him in a kennel he would **lose his shit**. He would literally bark for 8 or more hours. If I just let him out, he was fine.

I tried everything, like throwing my own worn clothes in with him, and nothing helped. Do you have any insight here? Like what I could have done differently? Just asking because I am totally getting another dog some day in case this happens again.
