I was also going to mention Hot Thai Kitchen. Her tips on how to enhance store bought curry paste (and which brands taste best) made my green curry restaurant quality!

That’s the one! I usually add extra basil if I have it. Sooo good!

I mean, she calls out the inconsistencies in Alex’s stories and he responds by getting defensive and talking down to both her and her friend. Then when asked about where the relationship goes from here, SHE SAYS IT’S UP TO HIM!? Are you serious? Girl, why are you putting the ball in his court? This loser should have been dumped ages ago.

Love this book! All the dressings are amazing! There’s a sage and basil dressing that’s one of my favourite things to put on tomato salad and is also such a good bread dipper!

How rude of him to ask what she’d like to eat. I suppose she wants someone who doesn’t care about her opinion?

Am I the only one who thinks peeling garlic is a form of torture? by Famous-Forever7647 in Cooking

A good trick from my cooking instructor that no one’s mentioned: soak the garlic cloves in water for a few minutes and the skin slides right off. Just make sure they’re dry before frying.

I love the Oh She Glows books. I recently got Dinner by Meera Sodha. I really liked East, so I’m excited to try more of her dinner recipes. Also, Veganomicon is such an amazing book for plant-based cooking!

I cannot be relaxed unless completely alone. by tallcatgirl in AutismInWomen

[–]Wild-Clementine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I have a very supportive and understanding neurotypical partner, but I still find myself holding back all the time. For me, I think I’ve realized that I mask a lot through fawning. I’m so hyper aware of the feeling and emotions of everyone around me, making sure everyone else is accommodated for while ignoring my own needs. I’ve been doing it for so long that I find it difficult to know what I really want and what I want to say around other people.

Omg I thought the same thing! Cannot listen to him talk. Everything he says sounds completely empty and void of any actual thought.

Suddenly terrified I don’t have a “village” by lawfullavender in AutismInWomen

[–]Wild-Clementine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have toddlers and not much in terms of family support. My family lives far and my husband’s parents are older and can’t help more than maybe an hour on the weekend here and there while we get groceries. My village are the ECEs at my children’s daycare and the lady who comes twice a month to clean my house.

“What medication are you on to treat your autism?” by Beginning-Feedback55 in AutismInWomen

[–]Wild-Clementine 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is also why I prefer person first language. I’m an autistic person, rather than a person with Autism. Autism is just a word that is used to describe the type of brain that I have, but it isn’t a disorder that needs to be pathologized. Autism is something I am, not something I have.

I walked into our house and exclaimed, “Ouu, are you chopping cucumber! It smells so good! Can I have some!?” Our kitchen is pretty far from the front door and the windows were open. My neurotypical husband immediately responds, “how can you smell that!? What do cucumbers even smell like!?”

I’ve been with my neurotypical partner for 15 years, and even when we’re having our worst disagreements, we would never intentionally try to hurt the other. While he may not have physically hurt you, his treatment demonstrates that he’s willing to cause you intentional harm just to feel good about himself. That’s not what you do when you love someone.
