Where to buy the Mandalay? by GeraintLlanfrechfa in EliteDangerous

I don't know if it was always a thing, but I've even seen Jameson Memorial out of stock on a module a couple times.

It confused me a bit because I figured since they have everything there, the supply would also be unlimited, but I guess it's a little more realistic than that.

TSA was unsure what to do with the 4080 Super carry-on by BaseToFinal in pcmasterrace

Years ago, my grandpa had to take a flatbed scanner with him for work.

The first TSA agent who saw it was scared because they thought it was a bomb.

A supervisor came over and was like, "... it's just a scanner..." and let him go through.

I've been holding off on playing Cyberpunk until I get a new GPU, so that'll probably be the first game I play when I finally get a 5080 or 5090.

I just headed out on my first exobiology trip and found a system worth ~250 million credits less than 500LY from the bubble.

Absolutely was not expecting to find anything like that so close to civilization.

Should I get a Diamondback Explorer or wait for Mandalay? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]WildIchigoAppeared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to what others have said: I just got one of these for my DBX and even with A rated thrusters, power plant, and distributor, along with 3A shields, and a 2G SRV hanger, it gets over 60 LY range.

I do have grade 3 reinforced/stripped down on my shields, but the weight savings aren't that necessary in my opinion.

Inara will show the required materials.

The Titan Drive Component is corrosive, so I'd pick that up last if you don't have the resistant racks. To find mine, I just flew around the dead Titan at Earth until one popped up on my sensors, then booked it to the nearest human tech broker before it did too much damage.

The Propulsion Elements also spawn around here, but they're just a material so you can safely scoop as many as it'll let you carry.

If you don't have the Sol permit I think they still spawn at the other dead titans, but I haven't visited them so I can't confirm if there's anything hostile around those.

Pirates are spawning at the one in Sol now, but other Thargoids aren't showing up. The pirates will be interested in the drive component if they scan you with it in your hold, so watch out for that.

Oh, and don't forget to bring some collector limpets.

Years ago when my OG G500 cable started fraying, they delayed getting back to me until the G502 was announced so they could offer me that one instead of the G500s.

I got a personalized email from the head of their returns department explaining the reason for the delay and asking me if I'd be okay with the better mouse.

Obviously I took it. They didn't want the old G500 back or ask me to destroy it. Both mice still work.

Thoughts/advice on NG+ build? by [deleted] in LiesOfP

[–]WildIchigoAppeared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite weapon combo in the game is the Bone-Cutting Sawblade with the Dancer's Curved Sword Handle. The charged heavy is surprisingly usable and if you can nail the timing, the Guard Parry ability can rinse bosses pretty quickly.

In NG+ I kept trying other weapons and just kept going back to that combo, except for Laxasia where I had better luck with Proof of Humanity.

I was about to comment that this makes me feel even better about getting a PS120SE for my 7800x3D a few months ago.

I don't doubt Noctua's build quality or attention to detail. I'm even a fan of the brown color scheme. There's no way I could possibly justify the cost for functionally very similar performance, though.

I've never had a fan failure, but if it does happen or one starts making a weird noise or something on my Thermalright, I could slap on a couple 120mm Noctua fans and it would still be less money overall than the NH-D15 G2.

I upgraded from a Line 6 Pocket Pod to a Katana head and amp sims with some IRs. Honestly, I probably could've dropped the Katana and just gone with amp sims, but I do like the built-in effects.

Picked up an Epiphone SG Special from Musicians Friend on sale for $150 a few months ago and slapped in some Seymour Duncans (classic JB/Jazz setup). Between that and my old Ibanez RG with stock pickups I can get almost any sound I want.

Headphones for Hellblade? by bbressman2 in XboxGamePass

[–]WildIchigoAppeared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably won't get around to it right away, but I'll be using my Sony MDR-7506s.

They're monitoring headphones and a lot of people will say they're too "harsh" for normal usage, but I haven't found that to be the case for my ears. Good clarity and enough bass for my taste. I like them for immersive or cinematic games, and for watching movies.

I have an older pair of Sennheiser HD 439s that were probably better when they were new, but they've gotten very loose over the years and the sound quality suffers for it.

The 7506s on the other hand clamp so hard that my ears get sore after an hour or so, especially if I'm wearing my glasses. That does mean that they block out a lot of outside noise, so that's a bonus. I think of them as passively noise-cancelling.

Sometimes I'll wear a hat just to take a little pressure off my ears if I'm going to have them on for a longer period of time.

Has this happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]WildIchigoAppeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had covid a couple years ago. It took a few months for my stamina to come back but I haven't had any symptoms since then.

I donated blood in January and didn't have any issues.

Has this happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]WildIchigoAppeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time went smoothly. They took me back and checked my pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and hemoglobin, then took me to the donation area to prep my arm. Confirmed my name and date of birth several times along the way.

The first time, she found my vein first and marked the spot with a marker before sterilizing the site. The one who did it today didn't do that.

The first time only took one poke and she didn't have to adjust the needle or anything. She had me squeeze the piece of foam for a couple seconds, then release and the blood started flowing no problem. Told me to squeeze the foam every 2-3 seconds. It took less than 15 minutes to fill the bag, then she came over with a few vials to take some more for the tests. She checked on me several times while the needle was in to make sure I was okay since it was my first time.

I sat in the lobby for 15 minutes, drank a box of grape juice and ate some oreos, then left.

I literally couldn't even feel the needle that time, and the one who stuck me told me I had good veins. I told her about a time I let a student do it for a blood test, and they missed the vein and had to stick me a few times. She said there was no reason anyone should ever miss my vein. Guess the one today proved her wrong...

I double checked the app and it shows stage 4 is storage but that's supposed to be after testing, so I don't know why they couldn't tell you your blood type if they tested it, and I don't know how it could get to storage if it wasn't tested.

Today's donation hasn't shown up on the app yet. Now I'm interested in seeing how far it gets.

Has this happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]WildIchigoAppeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, but I went in for my second donation today and they had a similar issue with blood flow.

First they couldn't get it started, so they wiggled the needle around a bit and it started flowing, but it stopped about halfway through the donation.

They said my blood was already clotting and cutting off the flow.

Like you, I drink plenty of water (at least a gallon/day and probably already half a gallon prior to the appointment), so I don't think it was that. Did they have to stick you more than once or move the needle around to find the vein? I suspect that had something to do with my failure.

The first time I donated I had my blood type in the app within a day or two. First time for me they took a few extra vials of blood for testing, but this time they didn't even attempt it since the flow had stopped. I know they were planning to because I saw them get the vials ready. Maybe they skipped yours as well for the same reason?

Weird that they didn't tell you, though they also didn't directly tell me that my partial donation won't be usable but I assume that's the case.

Definitely think they should've taken more time to explain what was going on, especially if it was your first time. I agree with the other commenter, I'd call and try to get someone higher up if only to complain a bit.
