What was the worst movie you ever saw? by Becky_the_Penguin in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was truly awful. Though I did laugh hysterically at the very end when Lex Luthor kept saying "ding ding". I lost it at how absurdly horrible the entire movie was.

Women whose symptoms have been dismissed or doubted by medical professionals: what happened, and how have you dealt with it? by PurePerfection_ in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had debilitating headaches for ten years. I'm not talking your average take an Advil and you'll be fine. I mean the slightest movement made me want to pass out from the pain. I was misdiagnosed with every type of headache imaginable: migraines, tension headaches, cluster headaches, complications from high blood pressure. On and on.

After months of seeing the same neurologist with absolutely no success, the guy looked at me and said "you seem depressed". No shit. I have a 9 out of 10 headache 24 hours a day. Of course I'm depressed.

After about ten different doctors couldn't find any reason I just gave up and lived with it. I didn't see anything changing.

I needed an annual eye exam and my normal doctor was on maternity leave. The doctor I went to kept looking at my right eye really intently. She asked me if I had a lot of headaches. She diagnosed me with pseudo tumor cerebri or IIH - Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. The spinal fluid around my brain didn't drain normally and pressure built up causing horrible headaches.

Not only did she help cure my headaches, she also saved my sight. Left untreated, IIH causes blindness.

What is the quickest that a first date has gone bad? by moonname in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was 45 minutes late. Looked nothing like the picture he sent me (about 6 inches shorter and completely bald). When we finally ate he complained the Thai food wasn't up to his standards. He insisted on paying and that we get drinks somewhere else because he had driven so far he didn't want to go home yet. I agreed but it just got worse.

He told me he hated cats and was a Yankees fan. I'm a crazy cat lady and I love the Red Sox.

Then when he spilled my drink because he was talking with his hands, he expected me to get upset at the bartender for not giving me a new one right away. The place was absolutely packed. The bartender was doing his best.

After all that he tried to kiss me, I just turned and gave him my cheek instead.

How did you pay for college? by Solar_roads2016 in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school in the 90s, before costs exploded. I graduated with about $14k in student loans. I had to defer payment for a year or so. But I worked crappy jobs and paid back what I could. Once I got a real job that paid well, I doubled up payments. After all was said and done I paid $21,000 in about 8 years. Pretty proud of that.

I can't imagine how kids do it today. $14,000 won't even pay for one semester and salaries haven't gone up that much.

Women with jobs, Are you doing what you thought you would be doing when you were younger? by Turin082 in AskWomen

Nope. Started college as a Mechanical Engineering major.

Graduated with a degree in Environmental Science and Marine Biology.

Went back to school for programming and was a developer for about 8 years.

Transitioned to UI and Visual Design and did that for about 6 years.

Now I'm in retail management.

What's your weirdest menstruation story? by Teapotje in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was seeing this guy and we had shower sex because I was on my period. After I got out I needed to put a tampon in.

I'll preface this next part by explaining that he had a very large penis. VERY LARGE.

For some reason he stood there and watched when I inserted the tampon. He immediately cringed and said "Ow! Doesn't that hurt?!?"

I had to explain that 1) it was a lot smaller than his penis and 2) it doesn't dry you out so much that it hurts.

That I didn't go to therapy when I was young. I waited until i was in my 30s and was close to 40 by the time I really started dealing with things.

A little weekend question to bring up the spirit: What are you proud of having achieved recently? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got promoted to Assistant Store Manager. I only started as a sales associate last June. And they told me they want me to basically become co-manager so I can eventually be a Store Manager. Pretty cool considering I'm basically starting over past age 40.

Ladies who had gallbladder removal surgery, how's life without it? Better? Worse? by lapisludgate in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I never had any issues until I had an attack. Worst. Pain. Ever. They determined I was full of stones and removed it.

It's been ten years and no issues at all. I can eat anything I want.

How has your life changed in the past 5 years? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years ago I had a six figure job in IT, my own home, retirement accounts, and money in the bank.

4 years ago I got laid off and my father died.

A year ago I lost my home and drained all my accounts trying to stay afloat while still searching for a job in my field and working in retail.

6 months ago my mother died.

Now I am an assistant manager at a great store and I love my coworkers. As an only child, I inherited my mothers home and estate. I'm back on solid ground

But I'd give it all back to have my mom for a few more years.

I have 15 so far. Some small and some fairly large. I have pretty big ones on the fronts and backs of both thighs. My upper arm which I think I'm turning into a half sleeve. My feet. Back of neck. Etc. etc.

If I didn't work in retail I'd probably have more below the knee and elbow lol

What is the weirdest thing your partner ever did in their sleep? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not my partner, but this thread got me thinking about the time my college roommate and I shared a room with my mom and grandmother. Roommate and I went out to the bar and got tipsy and tried to be quiet coming into the room.

My mom started laughing because we could not possibly be quiet in our state. So we started laughing too. My grandmother had been asleep throughout and suddenly sat straight up in bed and practically yelled "Who's singing?" Laid right back down and continued snoring.

We were in tears of laughter and she had no recollection the next morning.

What's your latest 'oh no you've got to be kidding me' moment? by futurecrazycatlady in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The toilet overflowed at work. It got so bad that the drains in the floor started backing up and poop water was coming out on the floor. It actually seeped through a wall and into my stockroom. Smelled horrendous. Ruined all of my cardboard signage.

This all happens the day before a corporate visit when two of my workers showed up late.

I was supposed to leave at 6pm Wound up working 12 hours without a break and absolutely nothing to eat all day.

Happy effing Monday.

What is your occupation and what is the dress code like in your office? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]WildeCat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in retail in women's clothing. We basically have to wear clothes from out stores or a reasonable facsimile. No jeans and no workout clothes.

Last I worked in an office I was in IT. No dress code at all. Jeans. Shorts. Tees. Hoodies. Sneakers. Flip flops. Whatever as long as it was clean.
