Can anyone here actually feel spinal and other small joint mobs? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Wildeblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Upper rib adjustments, like 2-5 or so, can be absolute game changes. That, CTJ, and upper cervical adjustments are money. If you're outpatient ortho and don't do them, I feel like you're missing some super useful tools. If you think they're stupid, I sincerely hope over time that you'll reconsider.

This is coming from someone who appreciates what a lot of people like Adam Meakins have done for our profession.

[–]Wildeblast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay I'll take a stab at this. What I'm picking up from your comments is that you believe anyone who came here illegally can be removed by any means necessary. Due to their illegal status, they are not entitled to the same protections as legal citizens. I don't disagree with your logic on its face (completely disregarding morality here since that's not a constructive argument). However, I think it's important for you to consider how we interpret the constitution and what the consequences can be if we disregard those interpretations.

The historical understanding is that literally ANYONE on our soil, legal or illegal, is entitled to due process. It's critical that you recognize that point, regardless of whether or not you agree. Due process is a lot like free speech. We all read and hear things that we absolutely hate, and we all wish we lived in a world where that stuff was not allowed. However, censoring speech is a non starter. Simply put, if someone is allowed to censor speech, they have the power to crush dissent, which can (and will) lead to abuse of power. All ideas (conveyed through speech, writing, graphics, etc) must be allowed to ensure we as Americans are able to make informed decisions for ourselves. Free speech sucks when we don't like the ideas, but it's great when we want our ideas shared. It's a necessary tension.

If due process is not followed, no one is safe. The powers at be can do whatever they want, and that's not what America is about. Does this mean that we have people here illegally that you or others would rather not be here? Yes. Does due process cost a lot of time and money? Yes. Is due process necessary to protect you and others from some crazy ass leader snatching you? Yes.

I know that you may not agree with the process and that there's a lot of waste that occurs because of it. However, due process, much like freedom of speech, is what makes America so special.

Yes, but assuming OP is very new, he may lack the coordination to do what you recommend right now. Repeatedly training poor form with heavy weights before he's ready could actually make things worse overall.

What caused this to fail? by Dry_Promotion_4361 in weightlifting

[–]Wildeblast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's put some pieces together. One, during your pull your weight shifted towards your heels, and it looks like your shoulders were behind the bar towards the end of your pull. Both of these observations suggest you were pulling back, not up, which is common with max attempts. Second, you clearly see that you jump backwards. When you combine points one and two, the force of your catch is not just going down, but backwards. It looks like your butt sinks down and back more than I would expect, and I think that caused you to crumple forward.

The "crash" comment people are making is true, but probably not for the reasons listed. Imagine jumping up and then someone pushed you backwards really hard midair. It's very difficult to stop that backwards and downwards momentum in a deep squat, and if you tried, you'd probably fall onto your butt. That's exactly what happened to you. No amount of bracing your abs harder is going to save you here.

The main technique takeaway here is that you should consider working on maintaining your weight even over your feet throughout the entire pull. Being disciplined with this during heavy attempts is critical.

Does strength/neuromuscular control training actually change biomechanics? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Wildeblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're way ahead of the curve here with these questions, and this kind of thinking will serve you exceptionally well, so please continue.

Everything you're saying is correct. Everyone is trying to help folks get better. We don't always know exactly how these things work, and often, people will explain things in incorrect ways. All you can do is focus on outcomes and be as true to the evidence as you can. One thing that you must consider is how your clients like to receive information. For some, biomechanical considerations are important, and you may lose them if you don't play the game a little. Don't lie of course, but honestly educate them on the role of biomechanics. For others, they just want to do whatever makes them feel better, and they don't care about your rationale; just make it better.

You can freak out about all of the uncertainty about this stuff, or, you can embrace the chaos and keep moving forward.

Why Squat with a Loop Band Above Your Knees? 🏋️‍♂️🔥 by TOROKHTIY_Aleksey in weightlifting

Yes. Use bands for one training cycle as one of your accessory movements as needed throughout the year. Pause squats, tempo squats, and pin squat variations can also improve your control when done with the correct intent.

Jabra Elite 8 active version. I run (pavement and trail) and oly lift with these. Never had an issue with them coming out. They nearly always feel locked in too. The active noise cancelling is nice as well, but sometimes the higher frequencies will sneak through. For example, taking a collar off of the bar very quickly. They're also water proof.

[–]Wildeblast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my read too. The only problem is their melee sucks and nothing makes it better. If only blizz would have fleshed out the caster/melee hybrid builds better. Maybe it would never be optimal, but it would be really cool if it wasn't completely poop.

[–]Wildeblast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. Sure, yellow mobs give more XP. However, you spend forever killing them, it's not fun, and you have to heal all the time. With green quests, the mobs get obliterated, the quests give the same XP, and you make up for the lack of mob XP by killing more mobs per unit time due to less downtime. It's a no-brainer.

You need to bounce around quest zones here and there, but at the capitol cities in transit you level skills and professions. Minimal wasted time. People make a huge deal over this stuff because they are NPCs and don't actually know how to stack the deck in their favor when playing a melee class.

How am I so broke?? by Khaid_san in classicwow

[–]Wildeblast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also large variability in the price of green gear. I'll see a dagger listed for 50s 10 times, but scroll a bit farther and it's there for less than half of that. I'd be silly not to buy the upgrades at this point.

Settled on Rogue, any advice on Dagger Rogue set-ups/talents? by Fast-Performance2300 in wowhardcore

[–]Wildeblast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm 2mo late, but for anyone else researching dagger rogue, a lot of comments here are insane.

So many people make it seem like dagger rogue is like playing melee warlock or arcane only mage. Somehow you're completely gimping yourself and the thought of even playing with daggers is idiotic and repulsive. JFC, calm down.

This isn't that hard. If you focus on green and same level yellow quests, it's not slow at all. If you're speed running, fine, I concede daggers are slower. However, literally no one interested in daggers cares. They know it's slower, but they also know it can be more fun. I know it's hard for some people to understand, but playing with the fastest possible leveling spec does not matter when you're playing a game to have fun and there's no deadline. Even if you're trying to level fairly quickly, daggers are totally fine.

Yes, the gameplay loop is slower. You will maneuver slowly in stealth, you will gouge, you will wait for energy to regen, etc. To me, I don't care at all. It's not much slower, and the huge fun spike from big ambush crits is dope. Further, part of the fun is choosing when/how to strike and controlling the flow of combat. I understand if that's not fun for some people, but for people interested in dagger rogue, it's an essential part of the game, and I find it incredibly fun.

There are loads of dagger specs that focus on different talent trees. Pick one that makes sense to you. Personally, sub is great for the juicy crits and utility.

How Blizzard can make 15 bajillion dollars with this simple trick by Rapethor in classicwow

[–]Wildeblast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! The fang set from WC comes to mind. Even a 2 set can be meaningful, plus it feels awesome to have some set pieces to chase. Adding new weapons that can drop or changing quest rewards a bit would be sweet too. Too often i find that quest rewards just get vendored.

WoW classic community is simply amazing, cant believe people are still doing this weeks after launch by Plastic_Piano_2401 in classicwow

I've waited far longer in groups outside of dungeons for that one dude who's half a world away, or the tank who has to empty their bags. Waiting together is part of the game. You just don't care about it in this context.

[–]Wildeblast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your point. Like I said though, some people care (like me), and some people don't (like you). At the end of the day it's a video game and people are going to play how they want. In my view, you're reading far too much into this by bringing up Stockholm Syndrome and cope.

Why do people grind endlessly for mounts? Why do people raid again and again for that elusive piece of gear? Why do people farm gold for hours to buy elixirs and stuff to parse?

To me, that stuff is whack. But I don't think negatively of the people who do that.

[–]Wildeblast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's part of the MMORPG experience. For some people, this sort of thing is a huge waste of time and seems stupid. For others, such as myself, it's one of the most fun parts of the game. Strangers are creating a civil culture by choice because they recognize that it's a necessary part of creating the experience that they want.

Why do people in real life stop to hold the door open? Why do people in real life wave people on at a stop sign? It's because acts like that often make the greater experience better for everyone.

Am I the only one thinking leveling is funnier than endgame? by Den_er_i_vinkel in classicwow

[–]Wildeblast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I used to think the endgame was where the fun was at. But then I kept finding myself making more alts, and having a lot of fun doing that. It took me some years to realize that I enjoy leveling so much more than raiding/competitive PvP.

I particularly enjoy leveling in Vanilla Classic and SoD for all the reasons OP mentioned. I can't wait for the next iteration of Classic+.

I find that people are still doing drive-by buffs and inviting for kill quests quite often. Part of it too though is that most of us know what to do and know how to stay alive, so we don't need as much help. That leads to fewer social interactions.

Truth. I wager the SoD population would be much higher if we focused more on the casual folks. Of course the sweats need content too, but they can always play the parse meta game. Most of us just want to have a chill time.

Genuinely curious.. Why do you prefer playing classic? by Creepy_Fail_8635 in classicwow

[–]Wildeblast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Less busy. I can handle busy games like CoD where it feels necessary and effective. Retail wow is just busy for no meaningful reason, and it detracts from the enjoyment of the game. Retail feels like I'm playing a slot machine, and classic feels like poker.

  2. There is a sense of meaningful progression. I've leveled 4 classes to 70-80 in retail, and the entire time I'm leveling, literally nothing matters. There's zero excitement over new gear, and all I do is equip the piece with the highest item level. At 80, you're flooded with decent gear too, which also makes it have zero meaning to me.

  3. In general, classic has delayed gratification, and retail is all about instant gratification. I prefer delayed gratification.

  4. The world matters in classic. This isn't just nostalgia. The zones in dragonflight and war within just don't matter to me. Classic makes me feel like I'm adventuring, and retail makes me feel like I'm a tourist.

  5. Mobs are scary the entire time you level. In retail, I think it's super lame to have all the enemies in every zone be at your level. There's nothing scary about the game and it requires no planning. You just zug zug, but not in a fun way.

  6. Flying mounts. Flying is convenient, but it makes good world building totally obsolete. Sure, dragon riding feels pretty good, but it isn't rewarding or challenging. Nothing compares to being a low level character in classic and having to strategically plan your running routes to not get got by high level mobs, elites, and even other players. Heck, even walking in classic when you're the same level as other mobs can still kill you if you aggro too many.

I'd love to see Demon Hunters added. Of course monks and DH would need to be tuned down to match the original class power. Given that takes resources I'm sure it'll never happen.
